Hey Yinzers
Alanna and I are making the trip to Hanover on Friday afternoon to play the Codorus Autumn Open on Saturday. It's a small entry fee but usually a big turnout. So my question is Who's Coming With Me? - other than Alanna.
It is Jay G. tournament and he sorta help win you know what from you know where, even though he wasn't on my team.

I'm planning to go as well as the Olcott Bros.
I've never played CSP, but I've hear good things about the courses and the park itself. :) Where are y'all staying?

I talked to Jay G. last night. He said we could stay at his place but i don't want to intrude. If you and the Olcott Bros. want to split a hotel room that would be a cheap way. I'll call you later

Outstanding.
That would be one word which can easily describe the overall experience at Codorus State Park. This place is a disc golf mecca with 54 golf holes and a permanently installed miniature basket course! I couldn't begin to tell you what my favorite hole is on the complex because there are too many to choose from!
The red course is more open with potential for OB on several holes, however, the variety of hole design is wonderful and the views of the lake are spectacular! Expect wind to be a major factor when playing this layout. The blue course is more wooded and technical, but wow!......there are some absolutely fantastic golf holes carved out of those trees and hillsides! The eighteen hole red course has an additional nine holes labeled as the Cross Country nine. Likewise, the blue course has an additional nine labeled as the X course. I thought these two nine-hole additions were the most challenging as a whole. Good stuff.
For the tournament, Jay created a 20-hole layout for each course which included some great combo holes (i.e. 11's tee to 12's basket, etc) as well as an island green on the red course which was quite tricky in that Codorus breeze! Multiple tees on nearly every hole adds to the flavor of this place and I thought the pro and amateur tee positions were designed appropriately for every single hole. In addition, the majority of the tees have either rubber or asphalt pads and there are plans to install more. It's easy to find your way around the course due to the directional arrows and tee markers.

My recommendation is that you add Codorus State Park to your list of courses to play! Look for spring and fall PDGA tournaments, however, don't let sanctioned events keep you away from this hidden gem in Pennsylvania. Who knows....maybe you'll get lucky like we did and see the pair of bald eagles who are currently nesting in park!

I would like to add that we found out that the State Park System paid for the rubber tee mats, which were made from recycled tires. This might be a possbility for Moraine. According to Jay G. they were simple to install, easy to maintain, and don't get slippery when wet.
I would hope that the PFDS explores this possibility.
