The 2007 Cross-State Doubles will be hosted by the Western North Carolina Disc Golf Club this year and we are all very excited about this years event. The dates are Nov. 3 and 4. The courses used will be, in order, Fossil Hill, Warriors Path, Mars Hill and the NEW Richmond Hill! Quite a line-up, in my opinion.
The gauntlet has officially been thrown down. The challenge has been issued. Who will step up? Two days of top notch disc golf at four great courses. Why not find a partner and come out for doubles, Cross-State style?
Fossil Hill, hidden gem of the disc golfing world. Great variety of woods and open holes. Three great finishing holes, all with creek O.B. Beautiful piece of land. This course has no weak links. 18 holes with concrete tees and Mach 5 baskets.
Warriors Path, the oldest course in the rotation. Newly (2006) re-designed sporting a much tougher edge. The all-long set up is much harder than your fathers' Warriors Path. Four totally new holes that are worth the drive. Last years best score on all-longs was -17. Not quite the -23's of years past. 24 holes with concrete tees and Mach 2 and 3 baskets.
Mars Hill, if you've not played this course, you are missing out! Very tough with wicked elevation changes and very fast greens. By far the toughest of the four courses, as past scores will show. Hole 18 is one of the most beautiful pieces of land I have seen (especially in the fall with autumn colors!). 18 holes with concrete tees and Mach 5 baskets.
The NEW Richmond Hill, oh baby! Well worth the wait! Classic wooded course that uses the terrain very well. This will be the first Cross-State for the NEW Richmond Hill. It takes it's place in the clean-up spot this year and what red blooded disc golfer could pass it up? 18 holes with the coolest astro-turf tees (excellent in ALL weather conditions) and Innova Discatcher baskets.
Ok, now you know. What's stopping you? I know you know someone who would make a great partner. Ask him/her. Divisions offered include Pro Open, Pro Masters, Adv., Adv. Masters, Intermediate. There has been some interest in an Am. Mixed Doubles and we would love to see that!
Entry fees have yet to be finalized but Open will be no more than $80 per team and probably a $10 step down to the next division. I'm just waiting on the flyer from NC and then I will post it here. Til then, you can call me at 423-366-9186 or email me at [email protected] .
Best shot dubs the whole way. No worst shot/alt. shot.
This tourney is not just for TN and NC teams. Yo, VA, GA, SC, KY, everybody within a 4-5 hour drive, you're invited!
20+ years can't be wrong.
