The 2007 Cross-State Doubles will be hosted by the Western North Carolina Disc Golf Club this year and we are all very excited about this years event. The dates are Nov. 3 and 4. The courses used will be, in order, Fossil Hill, Warriors Path, Mars Hill and the NEW Richmond Hill! Quite a line-up, in my opinion.

The gauntlet has officially been thrown down. The challenge has been issued. Who will step up? Two days of top notch disc golf at four great courses. Why not find a partner and come out for doubles, Cross-State style?

Fossil Hill, hidden gem of the disc golfing world. Great variety of woods and open holes. Three great finishing holes, all with creek O.B. Beautiful piece of land. This course has no weak links. 18 holes with concrete tees and Mach 5 baskets.

Warriors Path, the oldest course in the rotation. Newly (2006) re-designed sporting a much tougher edge. The all-long set up is much harder than your fathers' Warriors Path. Four totally new holes that are worth the drive. Last years best score on all-longs was -17. Not quite the -23's of years past. 24 holes with concrete tees and Mach 2 and 3 baskets.

Mars Hill, if you've not played this course, you are missing out! Very tough with wicked elevation changes and very fast greens. By far the toughest of the four courses, as past scores will show. Hole 18 is one of the most beautiful pieces of land I have seen (especially in the fall with autumn colors!). 18 holes with concrete tees and Mach 5 baskets.

The NEW Richmond Hill, oh baby! Well worth the wait! Classic wooded course that uses the terrain very well. This will be the first Cross-State for the NEW Richmond Hill. It takes it's place in the clean-up spot this year and what red blooded disc golfer could pass it up? 18 holes with the coolest astro-turf tees (excellent in ALL weather conditions) and Innova Discatcher baskets.

Ok, now you know. What's stopping you? I know you know someone who would make a great partner. Ask him/her. Divisions offered include Pro Open, Pro Masters, Adv., Adv. Masters, Intermediate. There has been some interest in an Am. Mixed Doubles and we would love to see that!

Entry fees have yet to be finalized but Open will be no more than $80 per team and probably a $10 step down to the next division. I'm just waiting on the flyer from NC and then I will post it here. Til then, you can call me at 423-366-9186 or email me at [email protected] .

Best shot dubs the whole way. No worst shot/alt. shot.

This tourney is not just for TN and NC teams. Yo, VA, GA, SC, KY, everybody within a 4-5 hour drive, you're invited!

20+ years can't be wrong.

Tac and J are not teaming up this year. Rumors abound on who they will pick but no confirmed partners yet. At least none that I am aware of.

Pro teams have no excuse anymore.

Sounds like fun.Too bad you have to run this event the same weekend as the Upstate Classic in Greenville SC.This event has always been the First weekend of November. Sorry you guys have to pick this weekend. It probably will hurt attendance at both events. Hope you all have a great time.

It is too bad about scheduling conflicts but this year it was out if my hands. This problem will only get worse. There are too many events and not enough weekends.

Oh, young master Smif, with age comes a perk or two every now and then. I'll be playing with Will Lewis from Richmond and we will decide based on numbers where we will play. Not sure if Jerry will play or who with and Vic will probably play with Paul. If we get a solid pro turnout, say 10 -12 teams (wishful thinking), I'm sure Will and I will play Open. If there are more masters teams than open, well, you get the picture. It is nice to have options.

I just hope there's more then 3 Pro teams this year or it will be my last X State. So glad the New Richmond is available because I wasn't a big fan of temp course especially watching Birdtic kill it.

They have a couple of large trees that fell on 14 and 17 and other smaller things that need work. Played 2 rounds there today and man was it beautiful! Hopefully fall colors will be peaking that weekend. The new pin position on 13 makes that hole one of the best golf holes around. But don't take my word for it, register up and see for yourself.

Played a round tonight at Fossil Hill with Tim and the shortest hole (#13) with the OB short is going to be passed over and a temp between 15 & 16 [down that long walk hill] has been added.
Also there is a 100% smoking ban at this course this year because of exceptional drought.
No open flame whatsoever. Really folks PLEASE don't let my world burn up because you just had to have a smoke and dropped a spark!

Same info as posted above.

It is so dry that I voted to use the course at Winged Deer this year and then back here next year. I really did not want to take any chance, that is why I'm pleading with folks to respect my wishes, since I lost the vote. I'm not going to play so I can keep an eye on things, both during play and check the place as soon after everyone leaves to go to Warrior's.

I remember the near catastrophic disaster at your course and have used that as an example of fire danger.

Entrys are coming in, don't be left out! Confirmed with James today on am players packs (disc and shirt) and pro players pack (shirt). Looks good! Can't wait!

Fossil Hill has a new temp hole that is BIG air. 429 downhill and wide open. Two tons o' fun! The dreaded double mando will NOT be in effect this year and we will skip hole 13 (short 151 ft.) and will play the temp hole after hole 15. The tee is directly to the right of pin high on 15 about 100 ft. over the electric fence and shoots downhill to the open field just before crossing the creek to 16's tee.

Mars Hill has undergone a slight lengthening. Holes 13 and 15 are longer. 13 is a classic. Awesome hole. 15 will be tougher than nails.

Shaping up nicely.

I'm looking for an adv. partner that can PUTT. As you can tell from my handle, 2 putts need not apply. I'm a good driver but need a putter/partner to finish.;)

I have played all 4 courses and can shoot under par at Warriors and Richmond Hill. The other Hills are harder on me. Give me a shout and maybe we can work something out - 276.783.4321

I have to agree with Riverdog and Fossil. The burn ban is still in effect due to dry fall conditions. Folks just think if it were your property at risk of being destroyed. Due onto others....

See ya this weekend!

shamelessly trying to keep this thread relevant. this years open div. is seriously up for grabs. i know a lot of good pros who need to be in this event. heard through the knoxville grapevine that k.o. is out and will schusterick needs a partner. anybody?

all the courses are looking great! i have played them all in the last 2 weeks and they are primed and ready. i'll be at warriors on fri evening signing up teams and fossil hill on sat morn early (7:30-8:30)

i think it will take a -9 at fossil, a -15 at warriors, a -8 at mars and a -10 at richmond to win open, but we'll see. can your team shoot that?

only one way to find out.......
