Looking for something lightweight but durable. I had a 3 legged stool but it only lasted one tournament
I'm not a big guy but I want something that will last and I dont want to spend alot on it.

You'll need to pay a little bit more if you want it to last. This one (http://www.rei.com/product/608803) has lasted me quite a while (and still going strong). It is also really light (1 lb 8 oz)

MACE ordered mine, but for the price (~$35), my 4-legger with folding back is AWESOME!
Soooo comfortable I sat on it at our music~fest for hours on end...and super lightweight.
Keep the folding back 'down' and you've got a square seat...which is sturdier than a 3 legger, and makes a great DG bag stand.
I've had it for at least 4 years now, and it's still going strong...and I'm 215 lbs.
EDIT: By hitting krupicka's link, look at the "first" related items..."Roll-a-Chair" - $38

I'd recommend the Quick-e-seat from GCI Outdoor
http://www.gcioutdoor.com/products_quikeseat.htm
The back is strong and really helps with long days.
They actaully have a lifetime warranty, and I've gotten a replacement back for my chair by calling them. The top corners of the back started to rip after 4 years of leaning back into it heavily to stretch my back. It was still usable, but when I told them about it, they sent out a replacement.
They are a little expensive, but well worth it. I would still be using my first one had someone not walked off with it.

The Quik-E-Seat (http://sunkingdiscs.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1528) is the best in my opinion as well; the slick fold up action, padded back and with a lifetime guarantee, you can't go wrong. We also carry the
Pack Seat (http://sunkingdiscs.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1527) as well.
We stopped carrying the Camp Time products because of several reasons including shipping (from the Northwest to Florida) and overall availability.

I just feel like this topic is overlooked even though alot of us use some sort of portable chairs, at least us old farts. I understand that durability = price just want to know whats gonna last...

I'm 24 and probably use my stool more than most grandmasters (no pun intended). I'll agree that the roll-a-stool is the best bang for the buck. Get one from huklab or Twisted Flyer and support DG while getting a great product.

I'll gladly match the REI price...let's try to keep the money within our sport - I'm not sure the last time REI sponsored a disc golf event. Call the store at 352.397.3257 to get the discount.

As more and more retailers (note: most disc golf retailers do not actively promote disc golf) jump in the fray of selling discs, we are considering a new price structure, but I probably wouldn't let you order from me without adding a $20 "I really have no clue about the dynamics within the sport of disc golf" fee...
I'm sorry you didn't like the fact that we like to maximize our fundraising efforts with our limited availability fundraiser discs (selling them for $19.99 vs. the $15.95 that DGV does). I did receive several e-mails on this subject after our previous conversation (some from other retailers), with all agreeing that DGV has a distinct, unfair advantage than other retailers and thus reinforcing my belief.
With the chairs, unfortunately we don't have the purchasing power of REI, nor does any other disc golf retailer that I'm aware of, but I don't see you calling out REI on their Star discs being $17 or why they don't sponsor disc golf events. Instead you blast our pricing which may be $1 or $2 more than some retailers, but is equivalent to or better than ZoneDriven, where's your rip on them?
Punch a donkey, or whatever it is you do on myspace, or get a clue and then get back to me...or better yet, organize, sponsor or run a disc golf event for kids or beginners and put your time into something positive instead of knit picking; life's too short brother.
Can you dig it?

Did you read my post?
Simple question.....no blasting. No need to jump on your soap box and have such animosity towards me.
A simple "no" would've sufficed.....but way to be an [censored].

Of course I read your post, thus my answer.
I didn't "blast" you (you'll know when I do). It's not my fault you read my post in an angry tone, because I didn't write in an angry tone...your the one requiring censorship.
When necessary, I do have a soapbox and it's also known as standing up for something you believe in and I believe that you don't know all the facts, but yet you pass judgement with haste. I will gladly continue this conversation over the phone so you can hear my tone and my position; I don't want anymore misinformation being passed about, as it always tends to destroy credibility.
So do you want a chair or not?
paul
Oct 05 2007, 11:51 PM
I need 2 chairs. I will buy them from you. The wife will use the other one when we attend our kids' sporting events.
I also need 5 super glow wizards heavy, 6 predators (1 - z 160ish, 2 z heavy 3 flx heavy) 6 star destroyers -- heavy. Let me know if you have and want to work some sort of package deal with the chairs I'm going to buy from you anyway.
I recently bought some stuff from you that was/is great -- thanks. Sold most of it, throwing the rest of it. (I'm not throwing these chairs -- I'm not from Indiana /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif)
I'm loving the Orion LS .. . . why I'm the only one -- I dunno. . . .?? Yes -- the LF is much more predictable but the LS is fun -- it's understable but very fast and accurate.

FYI ... they just (partially) sponsored a B tier here in Charlotte in April and are starting to carry discs here as well

This may be the opposite end of the spectrum that people are looking for, but I'll post anyway.
When dollar general has their summer stuff out, you can get a 3 legged stool for $3. It isn't the most durable piece of furniture I have ever bought, but it might still be the best one for the price. I weigh 200 lbs, and it didn't break on me all summer - it is still going strong. I did have to superglue one of the plastic screws in, but you get what you pay for.
I figured I could buy a good chair for $20 and it last a while. But even if I had to buy 6 dollar general chairs to last as long as 1 $20 chair, money wise I still come out ahead.
Also, when dollar general put their summer stuff on sale, that chair dropped down to $1.50. I sold my chair at a tournament for $6 and then went and bought me a new one at the reduced price.

It is this kind of thinking why disc golf is not bigger! Support your retailers who SUPPORT THE SPORT!!! Like Michael said, do these people who sell with the cheapest price sponsor EVENTS? 99.9% that's a big NO. If you shop with Disc Golf retailers who give back to events you get your money back in a round about way. If you give it to Dollar General it's gone.

True, but only if that extra $2 is worth the hassle of having to buy a chair 6 times (and do repairs on them in between). Like you said, you get what you pay for. The more expensive ones dont just last longer- they are generally lighter, sturdier, and more comfortable.

Chris,
As much as I see your point on the "buy from your dealer" perspective, I would look at the bigger economic picture. In a demand driven economy, the percieved value of an item is sometimes more important than the ideal that you are presenting. Quite frankly, if I understand the true differences and can see the long term benefit (whether it is tangible or not) of a more expensive product versus a very cheap product, I will purchase the more expensive product, regardless of the provider.
Otherwise, I will be paying the 18 dollars (assuming the other $2.00 is in gas cost and super glue :D) to replace the product 5 times.
That is basic economics. I suggest that one do not rip on others, just so that someone can pad their (or anyones) pockets.

Mike,
Lighter and sturdier may be the case, however more comfortable is a relative value.
Thank you,
