Billy Crump has informed me that the first 500 have sold already, to buy yours:
http://zonedriven.com/

By purchasing this DVD, you are supporting the vision that we have to feature our games top players in a way that may be attractive to television producers and outside the sport advertising in the future. This is the first of the Clash series, they will only get better and better, the next two have been shot and are under way.
Thanks,
TG

just watched it...

it shows pretty much the entire round.

there are lots of holes in the woods that don't have a lot of room to film so its hard to see some of the shots.

I've played like 25 rounds on the gold course and the shots those dudes are throwing are just unreal.

The shots (besides the throw in) that really stood out as really incredible that don't look that amazing unless you've played the course...

Barry's and Dave's drives on 2
Kenny's Drive on 3
Timmy's approach on 4 (hardest par 4 I've ever played hands down)
Barry's 2nd shot on 13
Dave and Barry's drive on 14 ( 540 pure hyzer par 4 and they are both within the circle)

It also shows the other courses in Charlotte and features the best local player Mike Johansen playing a -18 (40) round on the original course at Renny.

I can assure you that it was a nice editing trick as the best round I know of is 48.

How far past the big tree on #2?, or should i say how close to the wall? :D

MTL21676
Oct 01 2007, 07:13 PM
here are the shots I'm talking about...

Barry and Dave were both about a combined 7 feet from the ditch. Both teams had a jump putt for 2 on the hole.

Kenny's drive on 3 was 10 feet left of the short pin.

Timmy on 4 was in the schule on the left about 10 feet down (his drive) the gap and threw a forehand roller down the hill and then banged the putt. 3 himself. Playing the course blind. SICK. However, even sicker, is a local has 2'd that hole 3 times.

13 is the copperhead alley hole and Barry just threaded the fairway and put it dead center. Such an unbelieveably technical hole

14 - yeah, they pinned it.

Oh and Schwebby threw a thumber over the top on 16. Ridiculous.

I thought it was good, couldn't stand watching the "Player cam" way too shakey for my tastes :)

It's good you saw every shot pretty much, I see what they were doing with showing the entire setup before shots but it dragged it out a bit at times.

Worth the money in my opinion, don't mind spending it can't wait for more!

Got the DVD at USDGC and watched it...I agree that the player cam is a little shaky and often doesn't get people in the frame. But on the whole, a sweet DVD (especially with the bonus footage of other courses...more Mikey Jo than anyone else on the DVD, to be honest!) and I can't wait for others in the series. Great shots, and I like that you can feel the camaraderie as well (a bonus of the player cam). A big plus is that it's not $30. Barry's throw in is SICK and the celebration is funny as hell.

I played Renny Gold yesterday! What a fun and crazy layout. it is super difficult and almost every hole has the makings of a "signature hole". The highlight for me was making 3 on the Par 5 with the boulder in the fairway. I threw a Champion Roadrunner up the gut right over the boulder and then threw the same disc on a huge turnover for a putt from 30 long. I made an eagle on that course before I made a birdie!

I will definitely be picking this DVD up soon.

Didn't they do a 3 team clash right after the worlds? I also saw this on another board. How cool does this sound?

They have also filmed at Waterworks. I pulled this off a June thread on the kdga.com website.

This morning, DGTV had 3 cameras going and shot a Match play DVD @ WaterWorks. Climo, McCabe, Avery and Brinster... played 6-6-6 hole match play format, where you play everybody for 6 holes in a one rounder. New faces and New Names are helping changing the way DG is brought to you!

It went well! It was good times! Barry and Billy Crump did the commentary. I'm not sure when the DVD is coming out, but please be sure and buy one..the more he sells the more money the players make..and it's only going to cost $10.

i heard they also filmed a CLASH @ winthrop before USDGC... will be interesting to see if they publish a list of places they've shot and plan to shoot... could help with anticipation and advanced orders?... also thought it would be cool if they actually let you know they would be filming so people could watch live (and pay to help raise $)

Also if they published the list of places ahead of time or places they've just shot and allow the advance order idea maybe you'd get a signed copy by one of the players @ random?

either way... a step in the right direction for the sport!

they did film a clash the day b4 the USDGC, wasn't well publicized(maybe they didn't want a lot of spectators)

it was Dave and Avery vs Markus and Barry vs Ken and Nate

I got to watch it in person, but I will still probably buy the DVD just for Schweb's commentary- it sounded pretty funny from what i heard. also cool to have him do commentary, as he was saying what everyone was throwing(like if Barry pulled out a white driver, schweb knew exactly what it was). IMO this would really help someone who has never played winthrop to understand the course a lot better.

My main problems with most disc golf DVDs....

1. It's the same guys every single time!! I know Kenny is awesome and so is Barry, but I can't begin to tell you how many DVD's I have with those two on them! That is why I like Marshall St., I get to see a lot more golfers that I normally don't.

Of course we want to showcase the Coda's, Robbie's, Emac's, Leiviska's, Matty O's, Barsby's, Bennetts, David Wiggins Jr, and the old fellas Greenwell's, Deano's, ect.............. that is why we need YOU, to purchase the DVD's so that we can come to your home course, not only to showcase the players, but your course. Barry and Kenny at this point are needed to ensure the sales to "at minimum" cover the cost of producing the DVDs. Once we start "profiting" from the projects, you will no doubt no know it, that is when everything will change.

A random marketing idea for the Clash folks, since we're all just trying to build the sport...
With the low cost of the dvds, I bet there would be a real market for a clash "subscription"...you could pay a slightly reduced rate per dvd in exchange for paying up front for the next few dvds in the series, shipped to the "subscribing" people as soon as they're completed. Could be helpful if you're trying to build up some capital. I'd gladly pay for the next five clash DVDs all at once if I got them first. A reduced rate or a free add-in (disc, free shipping, shirt, etc.) would just sweeten the deal. Sound feasible?

If there is one change I would like to see in future clashes, is more clips of the people throwing close up.

Several shots show the run up, but switch to a camera down the fairway just before the disc is thrown.

If you always showed the full throw up close, you would not only have the good action from the players, but also an invaluable training tool. I think its extremely nice to see three players attempt the same shot in a row, because you have the chance to learn a whole lot about throwing mechanics.

So please in the future give us all throws up close when possible

On the coat tails of the previous post....one suggestion to help marshall that thought. I have done my fair share of video editing and doing a picture in picture of the two angles would be a pretty sweet way to do that. You could show the main video as the throwing motion with a PIP in the corner from down the fairway, and then do a fade out of the main video to the fairway angle. I've done this a couple of times for baseball and softball highlight videos.

the one I saw was the only copy right now. Billy Crump said they had to get all the copies made and they would be ready for sale at USDGC.

It's pretty good. Markus throws one of the sicker shots you will ever see and you get an appreciation for how difficult the course is watching doubles teams of the best players in the world taking pars and an occasional bogey.
