A friend of mine requested me to ask:

Why is it that A-tiers are members only, yet there are several non-members with posted scores at several A-tiers THIS year. Is there a way for the TD to get around this requirement? I'm not trying to get any TD's in trouble, just curious how this works.

I don't believe you'll see official results posted without all being members. Remember that TDs post unofficial results and the non-members likely joined at the event and don't have numbers or the TD for some reason didn't update the file with the PDGA numbers of some players.

They might have signed up at those A-tiers and have not been processed as members yet. Or they might have signed up and the A-tier got processed as a tournament before they got processed as a member.

Give some examples.

Here's an example of what I was talking about: Monica Avila played the St. Pat's in California. She signed up as a member at the tournament or shortly before. She shows up in the stats as a non-member because the tournament got processed faster than her membership. She shows up in the database as a member who has never played a tournament.

I'd say that the system is screwed up, but not in the manner you seemed to think.

I'll let my buddy know...I'm obviously a member b/c I'm on the forum and am not too worried about it, but it just sucks for people that want to play in a tourney and are willing to put a temp fee forward but the PDGA won't accept their $$.

How do you think that makes them feel about the PDGA and wanting to sign up the next year? At least have a paid membership go on through the same time the next year... I promise you its doing more damage than good for the PDGA

I am glad that you have to be a member to play an A-tier it is a benefit to be a member.

If that person has never been a member before they can become a member now and it will last through 2008.
