So, about a month ago I was playing softball when I suffered a foot injury. I was batting and as I swung, my right ankle folded inward. I felt a pop in the ankle and knew that I was hurt badly. I walked back to my car (100 yards or so), and with every step on my right foot, I could feel a popping in the ankle. After a visit to the ER, I was diagnosed with a severe sprain with no mention of the popping. I was given crutches and told to stay off of the ankle for a week, and then I should be good to go.

To make a long story short, for the last month the Podiatrist/Foot surgeon I have been seeing had cleared me to try everything, including playing in the Northwoods Open. I attempted to play softball again and realized the injury was still there. I went to get an MRI on Wednesday, and was told that I suffered a complete tear of the Peroneus Longus Tendon. It is likely that I will need surgery to get this repaired. :(

Has anyone here ever suffered a similar injury? How long can I expect to be out of commission for? Will it affect my game next year, or can I expect to be back out and as good as new when my rehab is done? Any information would be appreciated as I wait to see my Dr to get the news on Monday. Thanks!

I am the king of Orthopedic procedures...7 in the last 10 years. A friend of mine had the same injury you have aquired. She is a dancer (Legit) and made a full recovery in approx 2mo. 2 things that will make any procedure an 100% recovery; 1. Do your homework on which Surgeon you choose. 2. FOLLOW THROUGH W/ REHAB!!!! The worst mistake you could make is bail when things are feeling good. Speaking of feeling good make sure you are not taking painkillers to accelerate your recovery by pushing the rehab. Allow your bodies endorphine level to take care of the pain
