The 13th M.A.A.C. has been sanctioned as a B-tier and will be held September - 9/29-30/2007 at Seneca Creek State Park in Gaithersburg, MD.

It's a new Seneca! 27-holes instead of 18 and a more challenging and better laid out course all around.

Prices are the same as they have been for years. Advanced & Masters: $40. Intermediate $25. Non-PDGA members must add $5. Hope to get a link to the tournament flier shortly.

Format will be 2 18-hole rounds per day. Advanced and Masters will play Short to A, Long to A. Long to B, Short to C. Intermediate will play all 4 rounds from the Short Tees.

Sponsorship is only $25 and all proceeds will go directly to lunch, sodas, ice, etc. Please sponsor a hole!

INNOVA pro portable to winner of the Advanced Division!

The Mid-Atlantic AM Championships at Seneca Creek DGC is the premier amateur tournament on the East Coast and one of the best run tournaments out there. I played in the MAAC in 2001 and 2002 and I will vouch that the Seneca course never looked better as it did during this tournament.

With the friendliest and professional of staff and a world class disc golf course, this is an event not to be missed by any amateur!

How do you register?

You can pre-register by contacting me at jmerhi@comcast.net Here's a link to the Tournament Flier (http://home.comcast.net/~rhmiracle/2007_MAACflier-address.pdf)

To be honest, the odds of filling are low. We never filled when we were 18 holes (although one year we had 84 players), I doubt we'll fill now that we're 27 holes. So don't let that stop you from showing up on Saturday the 29th. Granted, there does seem to be a renewed interest in Seneca now that it's a better course, but we won't fill. Also, there's no late fees for showing up on Saturday.

Good people like Rich Myers and Dan Becker are sponsoring this tournament almost to the point where I think it's safe to declare "lunch for all players both days".

I still need more sponsors (at only $25 a hole). ALL sponsorship monies go towards food, soda, and ice.

Innova pro portable to the winner of the Advanced Division. A fat prize package for everyone else.

Many thanks to those who have pre-registered and those who have sponsored this tournament. We will be providing lunch both days.

The weather forecast for this weekend is looking pretty darn good.

But the big news is: The entire course has been mowed and it looks like a Country Club out there . :D

As most of you know, Seneca Creek is now a 27-hole course, however, we will NOT be playing 27-hole rounds. We will play four 18-hole rounds, 2 on Saturday and 2 on Sunday. Everyone plays all rounds, there are no cuts.

The format..... Advanced and Masters will play:

Short Tees to A Pins
Long Tees to A Pins
Long Tees to B Pins
Short Tees to C Pins

Intermediate players will play all 4 rounds from the short tees. If there is a Grand Master division, I will probably poll you guys to see what tee pads you want to play.

These are most likely the holes we'll play. As the "decider", I reserve the right to change this if someone comes along with a better idea. :D

Rd 1: 1-18
Rd 2: 10-27
Rd 3: 1-9, 19-27
Rd 4: Not sure. Maybe 1-18, maybe 10-27. Definitely not the same as Round 3. The main thing is that 3 of the 4 rounds will contain Holes 10-18

A couple of notable items worth mentioning. First, from my friends at the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Sterling VA:

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 76. North wind between 8 and 14 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 49. North wind between 3 and 6 mph.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 77.

Yeah Baby! Gotta love that forecast.

This afternoon I got a call from the Sports dept. of WRC-4 (local NBC affiliate). They are interested in doing a story on the MAAC.

THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THEY WILL COME

But obviously if they are calling me for directions and times, they are interested.

So comb your hair, take a shower both days, and wear a nice shirt. WRC is gonna make you famous. :D
