This event is only 2 weeks away, if you have not played Tyler State Park or this tournament you are missing out on one of the best Tourneys and courses on the East Coast. Always Great added money and cheap entry for TThe Ladies.

the flags were for the 9 temp holes out in the fields above the high 20's holes. There are tees marked with orange flags as well as where the basket will be for each hole marked with a small orange flag. most are not visable from the tee since most grass is higher than the small orange flag. They were out there Wed. night.....

If the #9 ranked player in the world doesn't make the same amount of money or more playing disc golf as he does delivering pizzas, then as a sport I guess disc golf isn't really as far along as I thought it was.

Is that true, Schweb? Do you really make more money delivering pizzas then you would competing in the YeTTer Supertour or Sugarbush National Tour events?

We had some issues with the park and they asked us to not play the same holes again due to different types of grass that aren't supposed to be cut so short every year. (??) Anyway, only the fairways/landing areas have been cut by Joey himself. However, the local farmer who uses the fields has already done several cuts of everything this year so the surrounding grass isn't nearly as long as it has been in the past. I've played the extra 9 three times and I've had no trouble finding my discs when I was off the cut fairway area.

the_beastmaster
Sep 11 2007, 10:42 AM
What's with the 90 deg turn on hole 35? Is there a mando out there in the field to go around?

This is actually a double mando hole. The first mando is a big tree on the very right of the first cut that you throw through. The second mando is on the very right (coming back towards the pin) of the second cut. The landing area (where the 90 degree turn occurs) is only ~265 ft. or so from the tee. From there to the pin is ~300 ft, but for both of those shots you have to negotiate a mando. Also, the green is cut so as to be a penninsula green. The high grass around the green is OB.

I promise this will be explained better both at the player's meeting and in the program, but I wanted to give everyone an idea of what to expect there.

We've asked everyone to have their baskets to the park by Friday evening. Ideally, they would all be there by 4:30 or 5 and we would put them out for the evening, but it's possible they won't actually go out until Saturday morning.

1st round: Pros play 1-18 all C-pins - par 70. Ams play 19-27 all Cs and the 9 field holes - par 66.

2nd round: Switch from round 1.

3rd round: 8:30 start!!! Pros play 1-18 a mix of pins. Ams play a mix of 19-27 and the 9 field holes.

4th round: Switch from 3rd.

I can't play in the Yetter due to previous committments but I was able to play a couple rounds there this afternoon and it's amazing how much work they put into Tyler.

I remember when they changed the layout into the current 27 basket layout and it was just grusome. Nothing seemed to make any sense and getting to some of the baskets was ridiculous.

Now -- it makes perfect sense, even in it's extremely long layout that they will play tomorrow in the first round. They've really made Tyler into a special place.

Sep 17 2007, 12:11 AM
Man, I must say these TDs for the Yetter go above and beyond on so many levels. It's clearly apparent why everyone (including top pros) flock to this tournament year after year. PDGA Powers-that-Be - you folks need to consider this club or event for an NT at some point (if they were to propose.) EVERYTHING is top notch.

From a lowly AM2 player's perspective:
Big Dog (Andrew Sweeton - DGer of the week earlier in the year) made a few quick (and correct) executive decisions after learning that multiple players at the bottom of AM2 had not showed up for the 2nd day, leaving a few 2some groups. Everything was quickly fixed after Big Dog's quick thinking and proactive actions..

The courses were immaculate. Much work was clearly apparant on both the regular 27 holes, as well as the additional field 9 (some OB clarification in the rulebook would be helpful though.) Overall, an awesome effort by the course-crew.

Players packs/players party - the players party was great as well. Very good (free) food was a great touch, and the $1 Flying Fish drafts only added to the allure of the party. I assume we tapped the keg early (by 9:30), so I'd recommend a 2nd keg for next year. The Clubhouse were great hosts, and you guys get an A+ for the party..

Logistically, everything seemed to work very very quickly and efficiently. I left mid-way though the final round (played soo poorly that I didn't make the cut - my mind was elsewhere this weekend) but rounds started close to advertised and the in-between festivities were well received.

We had a poor showing by the lunch providers, as well as the mini-disc golf people who were a no-show, but the TDs were quick to offer alternatives in both instances.

I have to give MAJOR props to Andrew "Big Dog" Sweeton, John McGinley, John Birkrem, Joey Mela, Bob Enman, Rex Hay, and I'm sure many others (I'm sorry for not knowing) who have spent countless hours and days making this memorable for all the players.

Awesome tourney - you folks listening?!?!? ATTEND THE YETTER!!! Tough courses (look at my scores), awesome amenities, great volunteer TD crew..exceptionally well done folks..THANK YOU.

Also thanks to Eric and Tina for putting up for the night, and for Mike Solt for the rides..your generosity made my life a whole lot easier..thanks boys (feel free to refer to me as the Dominoes King from this point forward, btw..)

gang4010
Sep 17 2007, 09:19 AM
Brinster by 3 or 4 over Joey -by 3 over Schweb - not sure after that - we left at 7:40 and it looked as if awards would last another 40 min at least - scoreboards were unavailable for viewing. Pretty sure Matt Lacourte won Masters by 1 over Robin Billig.

Kudos to BCDGA for all their hard work - many many great things about this event. Might suggest a USDGC style awards ceremony in the future to help travelers get on the road.

It won't DNF them, but it will re-sort them according to par, so it was incorrect. We figured the actual placing of people is more important than unofficial ratings, so we'll have to wait for the update for the 4th round ratings. Sorry.

The results are official? The advanced finish is correct? I talked to a player who said he didn't cash, and the results show him in the top ten. ??

I doubt it, it is showing the people that got cut at the top with a lower score because they did not play the 4th round. drop them to the bottom and that is the true order.... I'm sure this will be adjusted...

We're looking in to this. When we put up the unofficial results, we put in the 4th round as a Semi-final so it would show the true order. The PDGA has screwed up there end in posting the official results.

That's true for every event once posted officially until the next ratings update which is mid-November. I sent a note to Gentry to get the Offical results set up in the right order.

Actually, I think if you put it in as a FINAL, it should work. I'll check it out.

This would have fixed it. Unfortunately, Gentry's already put the results into the system, and they're listed as official, so I can't fix it online. Mr. Gentry shall have to do so.

Is the 51 from Jason Dore correct? Beat the Open hot score by 4?

i believe the difference in par of the 4th round of ams vs. pros was a 60 vs. a 66 (i believe).

Either way, that 51 is crazy...
