OK, sports fans... here's the latest from the mouth of the horse.

We at Circle R/Circular Productions/Millennium/Houck Design etc. are in the process of reorganizing, restructuring, and renovating. With everything that's going on, and looking at the history of our two beautiful courses, we've made the difficult decision to TEMPORARILY close the courses in Wimberley. We don't know when we'll be able to re-open, but we do know that TEXAS TEAMS WILL BE HAPPENING at Circle R November 17th and 18th.

We don't know yet when we'll reopen the Circle R courses (other than Teams weekend), but we certainly hope to do it sooner rather than later. Believe me, Dee and I understand how much people enjoy these beautiful courses, and we want to make them available to everyone.

Circle R will be open through Sunday, September 16th, so come on out and enjoy the courses until then. The pro shop will be open weekends and Labor Day from about 11:00 until 6:00. It will also be open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from about 10:00 to 5:00. The Meadow is entirely mowed, and the water is flowing. The Hill is still rough, but we're trying to get to it.

Thanks for all your support and understanding.

Oh, Texas Teams is:

a venue for Martin Tasker's intermediate debut
a venue for Dan Mueller to feast upon his more heralded opponents
a chance for the metroplex to field ONE TEAM from the entire area, who will probably win
an opportunity for Team Leap to dress up real nice
another venue where Deon wipes out McCaine
a great event brought to Texas golfers by Circular Productions

Really to answer your question, I was going to refer you to circularproductions.com, but it is not working. Hear that someone, it is not working.

Basically, a club, or an area, or something, we are really not sure, forms a team, either an "established" team of nine players, or an "emerging" team of somewhat less, but I don't know. An established team consists of a non-pro woman, a grandmaster/advanced master/pro women, a master player, two open players, two advanced players, and two intermediate players.

The teams are "seeded" into a round robin pool where four teams emerge after saturday. The remaining teams duke it out in what is call the mixmasters sunday morning. The four best from the mixmasters join the other four teams for a playoff to eventually determine a winner.

Each match between teams consists of nine separate match play contests between each team's respective member (advanced vs. advanced, etc.).

It's lots of fun and has occured at Wimberly the last two years. No money is won.

Wow that sounds spectacular! Now I just need to find a team. Call San Antonio or Live Oak ... do you need an Intermediate palyer?

Emerging (smaller towns and newer courses) 6 Players:
3 Advanced
3 Intermediate

Established (bigger cities and older courses) 9 Players:
2 Pro
2 Advanced
2 Intermediate
1 Pro Master
1 Amateur Woman
1 Swing Player (Pro Woman, Grand Master, or Advanced Master)

Payout:
No cash, no prizes. Its all for team pride and fun. There will be trophies for the top teams

Wasn't there talk that some changes/adjustments might be made for this year in the way team slots are assigned?

Something that didn't keep so many good pro lady golfers out of the mix??? We all know that most areas have stronger Pro Grandmaster or Advanced master men.

Mr. Houck, is there going to be any changes in the composition of the teams this year?? :D

Yea, I'd have to agree with SueMac.

Except for the top 10 Pro Women in the world, a Pro Grandmaster or an Advanced Master against a Pro Woman isn't fair competition at all.

<<Really to answer your question, I was going to refer you to circularproductions.com, but it is not working. Hear that someone, it is not working.>>

It's working for me. Maybe you should refresh or something... not that you're not fresh already. Unfortunately, there's not much info up there right now about the TTC. I'll see if I can rectify that.

I would LOVE to get those Pro Women in there, and I would love to hear good ideas how we do that. Where I get stuck is that there are 20+ teams in that division, and far fewer than 20 Pro Women in Texas. Please send me your ideas: jrhouck@centex.net

As for the # of players per team, we talked about different numbers. 9 is very convenient for Established, since we use 9 hole courses. Anything higher than 9 players would further complicate our already-complicated logistics.

Six seems to work well for Emerging, since those communities often can't round up more than that.

Ideas are always welcome.

So, if you have an area where there are established teams, you can organize an emerging team from another course to get more players. Much like UC last year? The reason I use them as an example is the fact that LO had several established teams, and those courses are spitting distance from each other. What is the criteria?

I guess what I am asking is for a clarification on emerging teams. I have a good group of am men who could fill an emerging team but we're from a metro area where we've had numerous established teams.

So, can we have an emerging team of "overflow" intermediate/advanced players? And they could be from one of our many new courses in the area, Sugarland, Kingwood, to name a few.

The format is perfect. I wouldn't change a thing. As for Pro women, there's always the swing player slot. Team Ultimate Fuego should make an apperance this year.

Side note: Had a great time in Rockwall yesterday. Ron and I had a private world class course.

Such insight from a man, wouldn't expect anything less. ;)

So, maybe your team would give a pro woman a chance in the swing slot over the Pro Grand Master or The Advanced Master guy.

Somehow, I doubt it. :D
