I am traveling on business to Nucor Steel in Darlington SC. It is close to Florence SC. I was wondering if there are any "have to play courses" that I can get to easily from Darlington. I looked in the course directory and only saw a object 9 hole course in Florence 16 miles away. I will be in town from 27th thru the 30th of August. Thanks in advance.

Dude you're out of luck. I've never played the 9-holer in Florence but it sounds lame. There is a course in Camden, SC, but it's an hour from you and it too is lame. You may actually be closer to courses in NC!! Sorry.

He's right, the Florence course (Mars Bluff) is a joke. Darlignton is kinda no man's land for DG. Your best bet is Earlewood in Columbia or the new course in Lumberton, NC (lotsa water). Charlotte is a bit far but we all know what's there.

How far are you willing to roam?

The Camden course (44 miles from Darlington) isn't that great, but it isn't terrible either. It won't make anyone's favorites list, but I've played worse in my travels and, if it were my only option, I'd take it. The closest good course may be Earlewood in Columbia (70 miles), which is actually a very good short course with lots of elevation.

Just depends on your how much free time you have. I don't think you'll find lots to do in Darlington....you might as well drive a bit and get some play in.

The Course in Florence starts out with a 95'drive then does the same [censored] for the next 5. Hole seven is probably the best hole... then hole 8 is another jump put.... then 9 is alright but wide open but sits on a hill..... wow I really dont understand what is up with the ultra short tee box and only having one tee box is stupid.... it does sit being a elementary school maybe thats the reason for the jump put course in the "Pee Wee" still better than hanging out with the losers I traveled with. I had to drive from Charlotte 2 hours south to Florence and passed rock hill it was enough to make me want to quit my job and stay and play there :DMaybe another time. Someone should do something about this crappie little course :o

Don't say we didn't warn you.

I haven't see the Florence course but have seen the description, which was enough to keep me away. Being next to an elementary school probably explains a lot.

Basically, that corner of South Carolina is a disc golf dead zone. Sorry you were exiled there.
