I forgot to ask this last night after I signed up... Do you have to be registered with the PDGA to play in this one? Burt seemed interested in doing it, so is another friend of ours and neither of them are registered through PDGA. I would assume you guys might let it be optional, but I don't want them to get all pumped to play and find out they can't.

You do not have to be a PDGA member to play. Just add $5 to the registration fee.
gotcha

Kurt is correct. A non-member (or non-current member) can simply pay the extra $5 to play in the Hunt at Deer Lakes.
I believe the PDGA is currently offering a membership special for the month of September (for new members only). If a new member joins the PDGA during the month of September, his/her membership will be good for the remainder of 2007 and all of 2008. Anyone interested in this should contact the PDGA office directly at Toll Free: 1-888-840-PDGA
For more information on joining the PDGA, please click here. (http://www.pdga.com/join/)

This was mentioned at the work day last evening, I thought they were busting on me, but i guess its true.
what is the format for the Hunt? I saw from a Gotchermoney post in the tourney section that open play blue, advanced white, all others red. BOOOOOOOOOOO.
I'm declaring Shenanigans!
I personally think Intermediate should play white and advanced play blue.
actually, here is what i thought would happen:
open - blue blue (possibly blue white)
advanced - blue white
intermediate - white white
rec/womens - red red
Just my .02 ..... i really do think it should be considered however, or I wouldnt have posted this.

Why not make 1 work day put in = discount entry fee? Maybe get some lazy locals to help out move some trees and not say hi and move along :)

The intelligence is that the course is rounding into great form for the inaugural PDGA tournament, The Hunt at Deer Lakes this Saturday, Sept 29.
The park manager, Mike Dutch, has stepped it up and completed a course bulletin board with welcome sign, rebuilt the bridge over the creek to hole 13, filled and leveled the White tee on 13 and Blue tee on 6, and plans on cutting the best disc golf course grass in the State one more time before the shotgun start at 10 a.m.
Allegheny Parks now features The Hunt and the Deer Lakes course on its front page slideshow and Deer Lakes park pages: front page events slideshow (http://www.alleghenycounty.us/index.aspx)
PFDS/DLDGC volunteers and County Parks workers have groomed greens, raised the ceiling on wooded fairways (like #2, #3, #5, #6, #13, #14, #16) and refinished picnic tables to be placed around the course.
Plenty of room in the field, but better use Paypal to register now because it is too late to send money via post, and a $5 late fee begins Friday. Of course, you could avoid the TAP (TD Annoyance Penalty) by registering during Thursday's work day when you help put the finishing touches on the course ;)
Entry fees are friendly and ams get a choice disc for entering. Recreational players will play from Red tees, Intermediate and Advanced from the White tees and Pros shoot from the Blues. Pins are a mix of mostly B and C pins with a few tasty A pins thrown in for ace/eagle runs. Par is 66 and we hope to get some good data to calibrate tee positions for when concrete pads are poured.
All the details are at PFDS.org. Hope to see you sooner than Saturday!

I'm hanging out here at the tournament hotel in Rock Hill, SC....thinking about The Hunt at Deer Lakes and what a great tournament it was! Thanks to Gary and Dan for running the event as it sure was a lot of fun. Of course, congrats to Timmy and the the other divisional winners!
I've been talking up Deer Lakes (and Moraine) while here at the USDGC. Several players have asked if we'll play it for the PFDO. I sure hope so. I think we should look at Deer Lakes and Moraine for the 2008 event....

for 2008 I sure hope we can get heads together to concrete the DLDGC tees, then, I ABSOLUTELY do not see why we would NOT use Deer Lakes! :D
and for the record, The Hunt was SO much fun. Great competition... well run... Cool CTP idea with someone from every 2nd round group getting a prize (way to go Rex, flippin righty hole!)... the highlights were really endless! lowlights were there too (ask about my first round :o)
It was more than I had hoped for after a year and a half of hard work. Thanks from me to all who helped ready the DLDGC, you know who you are. It truly looked "Stellar"!

Yeah, even though I played probably the worst game of my life the second round, I had a freaking blast. But I was oh so sore the next day.
The course is looking great. The tournament ran nice and smooth and it was just great to be out and playing with everybody.
We are so lucky to have such a good club.
