For everyone who is cashing in a pro division and wishing to remain an amateur:

The rule now says you are not allowed to take any cash and retain amateur status. I propose that players in this situation should be allowed to accept cash up to the value of the entry fee paid for the tournament. You're only breaking even and not making any money, thus you should retain your amateur status.

I think this will slightly bolster the pro fields and encourage more players to 'test the waters' because they know they can at least get their money back if they play well.

Thoughts?

It's a start, but it would be in Pros, Ams and TDs best interest to allow Ams to accept prizes valued at the cash they would have won.

that sounds like a great idea

isn't allowing ams to "merch" in pro divisions already in the grand scheme for next year??

Gentry said he should be caught up with tournament results posting and possibly post the competition proposal later next week.

What happens to the cash that was declined then? TDs pocket it in exchange for the merch, or it bumps down to the next pro?

I think if this became a rule then TDs would intepret this differently. That is why I stand by my original idea to only remove the entry fee from the pro payout and give it to the am who wishes to remain one. The remainder of the cash should stay in the pro payout.

the td keeps it for the merch- it's a win for the playa and a win for the td. it was done that way for years and eliminated a few years ago.
