My disc hit a square lamp post right on the corner of the sharp post. This resulted in a nasty gouge on the edge of the disc. I proceeded to cut out a very small piece of the disc with a sharp knife, (sandpaper wasn't going to help). It was pointed out to me that I made a post-production modification to the disc. While I can't deny the modification, I feel it is hard to say whether or not this altered the discs original flight characteristics. Is it now illegal? If I had left the gouge the way it was, would it still be legal? Thanks.
Rule 802.01(C)
Players may not make post-production modification of discs which alter their original flight characteristics. This rule does not forbid inevitable wear and tear from usage during play or the moderate sanding of discs to smooth molding imperfections or scrape marks. Discs excessively sanded or painted with a material of detectable thickness are illegal.
