Why is the US Masters DGC such an "Unknown Major"?
Its on a cool course which involves grass fairways, tee times,
and a PAR 5 that will challenge the best! Just no Icon link on the main page like the other Majors.

True - I have received an offer from a youngster to caddy for me that weekend if I play. Of course, he owes me from Milwaukee...

I agree...and an AWESOME course..esp the gold 18 layout. (construction not-
wth-standing).
Is the construction done yet? Do we know the final course layout after construction?
Sure wish I could have finished my project regarding that course. Would have
been cool to show what a great course it is.
(The project was a 3d representation of the course including trees and other course
features.)
I did provide Tim Selinski & Mike Williams an awesome large format aerial print of
the park for course overlays. Should be at the proshop.

It's a great tournament at a great course in a great part of the country, with a great TD who pulls out at all the stops for the players.
But for some reason the old farts from around the country don't seem to want to travel out here.

Benefits of attending U.S. Masters:
You're old, you deserve it. Plus you can afford it. :)
September is one of the best months in SoCal weather wise. The summer tourists have gone home so the beaches are much more accessible, yet the water temps are still 70+. Take the whole week and bring the wife/husband.
Tee times means you can still bop around town before/after your rounds.
No young punks on your card telling you how they were out until 5:00 AM drinking yet they show no ill effects. All the old guys on your card who were out drinking late look like it, and you get to whoop 'em.
Great player packs and event amenities. Tim Seliske will make you feel like a champ even if you are DFL.
Beautiful course at La Mirada where the normal 27 hole area is stretched out to 18 good/great holes with legitimate par 4s and 5(s). These aren't stupid safari holes, these are well designed long holes that will make you do something you almost never do in disc golf: think about course management. Yup, to play well you'll have to try and pick some landing spots that will give you a good look at your next shot. They aren't long and open, and you can choose poorly and execute your shot and still leave yourself with a crappy look at an approach. "Dang, that's why everyone else went to the left on this hole." :)
Pretty darn good payday in pros for only around 70 total players in the tournament each year.
There are am divisions so everyone can play!
What more convincin' could you need? Well, you also get to hang out with the course pro Mike Williams, who is one of the original "Three Amigos" pioneers of disc golf touring. :D

Don't blame me, I ain't old enough yet. (Yet I still feel like an old fart playing with the MA1 "kids".)

I remember Joe Josts pub, they had the cool beer mug tee-shirts. I grew up in Long Beach.
Dont remember how the food was.....is it tasty?
Just wondering when the course will be set-up for 18-hole play?

For some reason they are slow about updating the registration list. I registered on-line last week but it does not show (I snail mailed my registration for the Sun Valley Open on the same day and my name was included several days ago on that list).
Too bad, it makes it look like nobody is interested. I hope they update the list soon.

I really enjoyed the tournament last year, but was surprised that I didn't see more players from NorCal. After my constant raving for a year about how much fun I had, I convinced at least four of my NorCal buds to make the trip this year. They might be going just to shut me up!
Anyway, looking forward to it again this year. Look out! Here comes the NorCal invasion!

Yeah, Mike, we're all going just to shut you up.
NOT!
I can hardly wait! I, for one, would like to thank you for talking me into this one.
It's going to be fantastic!
One of these days, all the other old dudes across the country are going to find out about it.
Then we'll have a REAL U.S. Masters, not just old guys from SoCal and a few from NorCal that can travel.

Yep, a fantastic tournament. Probably the most smoothly run tournament I've played (well, other than last years USMDGC ). The catering was excellent again (go Geezers!) and ApeWear got a lot of my money too.
The course was just excellent; lot's of well designed par 4s. Even hole 15, which kicked my butt every round, was well designed (okay, so maybe it was designed to infuriate :p ).
I really like the fact that the course was left the same all three rounds, it really gave me a chance to analyse my approach and improve in the next round.
