last I heard form Joel is it barely playable. The grass is not mowed and there is only 14 holes I would not waste your time there and head to Round rock for old settlers or wilco

its playable but I think there are only 12 or 14 holes currently because the city is working around the other holes;play Pease -it is only about 10 more minutes away and always playable.

Waterloo Disc Golf Club is in the process of "reviving" this historic Austin course. More to come regarding a work day. I was out there this week and the 13 holes that are out there are completely playable. We're planning on using the workday to install new sleeves for the remaining five holes......we'll keep you posted.

Is there are a re-design of the remaining 5 holes in the offing? Which 5 holes?

The plan is to keep the same setup (just as it was just before all the construction). Everything on the back side is back to normal....other than some left over materials from the city restoration, it's ready to go. There was some thought to get #1 back by the pavilion, but we don't want to lose momentum getting the back nine reinstalled. I prefer 10-14 right where they were....plus a redesign of these holes would be difficult because there is only one bridge over the creek.

After some deliberation we've decided to redesign Bart using the same land available. We were out there today setting the sleeves for the new pins. A workday is scheduled for next Saturday December 15th at 9am to drop the baskets and clean up some of the holes. I think the course is going to play a little more difficult with more distance on the finishing holes. Hole one will be by the parking lot by the basketball court. Go out and play this week if you want to play the current 13 holes! Please PM me if you're interested in volunteering.

I'll be there Jon and thanks to all who put the sleeves in.
Mike wanted a redesign that was more am friendly: a course where average Joes and Judys could play without spending 45 minutes on the first three holes. I think he achieved that. Average players will feel challenged, but not punished; higher quality players will feel like they should rip it up, but most won't. Almost every par three will require a good shot.

Bart as a course again?

Almost every par three will require a good shot.

Yes, Vinnie, Bart is making a comeback. I expect you to be a regular. :D
Four par 4s in the new setup. Not real difficult ones. Designed more for ams.

The sleeves for the new pin placements are in the ground.
There is a Bartholomew Park workday this Saturday, Dec 15, starting at 9am. We need people with chainsaws, loppers, and weed-eaters to do some clearing. If you dont have any of the above, come out and help haul stuff out of the way. Some strong backs are also needed to move baskets.
All workday participants will be eligible for bonus payout ($100 club donation) at the clubs mini at Bart on Saturday, Dec 22.

Actually, there are several pin placements that are incredibly difficult because they reside within 10-20 feet of the creek. Big arms will be able to reach the pin with solid drive and short up shot...but if you air ball your putt, you're looking at a circle 5 or worse!
Hat's off to the Waterloo volunteers that set the sleeves...anyone who has set sleeves in central texas knows what a pain it is!

Stevo, Dion, and Mike are bringing chainsaws. That'll be enough for the little bit of sawing that needs to be done. Please bring loppers and weedeaters.
Thanks.

We'll be meeting in the large parking lot by the basketball court and pool. This is where the new #1 is...from there, we'll evaluate how many people show up and what tools we have and go from there. I cant freakin wait to play a "new" course!!!!!

We've got to cut through some red tape before doing any cutting on the course. The workday is cancelled. Enjoy your weekend instead.
I'll post again once it's rescheduled.
