Here's the scenario:
A meadow running alongside Hole 16 at Golden Gate Park is played as out of bounds during regular play:

but for the upcoming Safari we want to play a temp. hole going from near the tee of #1 to deep in the meadow towards the ob line for 16. Can that same OB line serve as the OB line for the temp. hole? Can you even have a hole in an area that is considered OB on another hole? Hopefully looking at the map this makes sense! Any help would be appreciated.

The rules don't specify one way or another about hole specific OB. I have seen it done before (e.g. to keep adjacent fairways separate), so it is not without precedent.

I've seen it. There is a tournament here that sets up some temp holes within baseball fields. The fields are OB when playing the holes outside of them but IB when playing the holes within.

you most certainly can have areas that are ob on one hole but not on another- just make sure to have it in your printed materials AND to go over it in detail at the player's meeting because disc golfers will screw it up if they can.
ross- did you win the mid-atlantic ams at seneca years ago? if so i played a couple of rounds with you that weekend- long time.

I believe we used to do this at Newport News when the fence was still up between #10 and #18. On Hole #10, the fence was not OB. On Hole #18, it was. It was stated in the tournament brochure. Fence is gone now.

For a long time, many courses with holes on both sides of a park road have usually had the road and across being OB when playing holes on either side.

Thanks everybody for the quick replies -- seems as if this would be OK to do (and yes, John, that was me back in '95 who won the Mid-Atlantic am tournament -- haven't won a dang thing since!).

I meant Holes #11 and #18. Been a long time since I played there. :o
