Ok, so I throw about 275ft backhand, with my right arm. I have smaller hands so I have issues with thick rimmed discs.

Right now I throw a Cheetah & Gazelle primarily. I throw a Stingray or Stratus for mid range.

I'd like to find something more overstable for a driver and midrange that will work for someone who throws 275.

DX TeeBird, Buzzz, and the DX Aviar P&A are the discs I recommend most for new players. But there will be more people on here offering disc choices, so whichever ones people recommend the most I would suggest throwing.

I was looking at some of the Quest discs the other day, do you think any of thos might suit me?

Quest and Gateway is what I throw anyway, but I would suggest the Raging Inferno DT and the T-Bone. I've seen more people increase their driving distance with the RI DT, and their accuracy with the T-Bone. The Odyssey Control Driver is really accurate, and has alot of glide as well.

I was also looking at the 100M laser because it had a nice dome shape on it. I thought with a dome like that it should have a lot glide.

I havent thrown the Lazer yet. Mine should be arriving soon, but it actually doesnt have alot of glide according Steve, the owner of Quest. It's more of a finesse disc.

the element -x is a great midrange. as far as drivers i recommend the inferno. both of those are staples in my bag.

What's the difference between the Ultralight Inferno and the Inferno? I ussume the Ultralight is a 150 class disc.

Go with the Buxx in the FLX plastic. It can do anything, go right, go left, go straight, go short, go long. It is money and is what I started a friend of mine out with. He concentrated on that disc and turned into a really good player quickly.

Ultralight is made in the Nike plastic and they are usually in the 130 to 150 class.

Stay away from the wide rim discs, they need lots of SPEED and power to fly. Most wide rim disc are what people consider ultra long range drivers. Stay away from those... you should consider using fairway drivers. What you have, sounds perfect for you. Maybe you could try a Valkyrie (it still holds the distance record and it's not a wide rim disc).

I agree with this for you mid's ESP Buzzz is MONEY for dead straight shots...holds any line. THE FLX will also hold good lines but is more overstable than the ESP it will hyser more.

Are you turning over your current discs? If not, I'd hold off on throwing the overstable stuff. Can you get your discs to turn right (RBH) with out releasing with anni? If not, stick with more under-stable to stable discs. IMHO of course.

Another good driver you might try is the TL

discraft's XL is a great beginner friendly, extremely versatile disc. It's a small rimmed driver that will go left, right, or dead straight and has incredible glide. It'll probably have you throwing over 300' in no time.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I think I have found a driver that is exactly what I'm looking for. I picked up an Inferno, it turns out with my power it's a little overstable but is very perdictable and I'm actually getting more D with it than my straight discs. Great disc! I can get it out to ~285-290. This one will be my main driver for slight hyzer shots.

I also picked up the T-Bone and I can thow this thing about the same distance as my longest driver before picking up these two but I can control it better.

As Rec player with minimal power, I can recomend these two to similar disc golfers.

Yo...my man...I really hope you are right!! If you feel the same after 7 or so rounds, good looking out! Don't be frustrated if the next time out, you have troubles....If so, don't be afraid to fall back on some of your faithfuls. I recently have learned the value of my old discs.

Give a TL and/or XL a try...they are both less nose angle sensitive than your Inferno...therefore not as long, but are easier to control...and control is money!

I played a couple round using them as my two primary drivers and it worked out good. We will see what happens when I beat them against a couple tree. ;)

Good call......I learned the last 6 months not to get ahead of my skills....Its easy to get caught up in the hype of super overstable discs.....I finally within the last couple of months learned to turn over my U.S. stuff and have begun to turn over my wraiths. While I havent thrown the XL, I'm thinking that it is comparable to the TL and will be great for you.

Sweet....I hope it stands up for you!! I have been playing with advanced players the last couple of months, and have learned TONS from them (in fact, I have been keeping up and often scoring the same as them!) Play with peeps better than you!!!!!!!!! It will step your game up BIG TIME!!

Make sure you learn how to throw a putter off the tee as well as your driver. This will insure you develop proper technique.
We have the wizard and warlcok in 3 or 4 different flexibilities, if you can get in fron of a box of them check out how they feel.
Also a regular S element may be easy for you for turnover shots and has a lot of glide an E Element is very similar to a buzz and is a little faster and longer!

I have been looking at Gateway discs. I almost picked up and Element and Sabre. Maybe next time I need new discs I'll look at them again.

Two of the BEST Gateway discs made IMO.

I think you just need to continue working with the Valkyrie for a lil while longer, but if you feel the need to find another disc I would recommend the Sabre, T-Bone, Leopard, TeeBird, or TeeBird-L.

If you're getting <300 with a Valk, I'd recommend that you start throwing a midrange and a putter only for a while. Learning to throw putters and mids will help you so much more. By the time you can throw a mid 300, your Valk will be an easy 325.

It depends on the flight path you are taking to get there. To be honest, although everyone on the MB acts like the Valk is the understable standard, it is still an overstable disc for most people who play. I would recommend a Sidewinder/roadrunner, or an Avenger SS. These discs have a good combination of speed, glide, and understability.
