there is no such thing as a ratings cap in any division except Rec and interemdiate.
however, even though he hasn't cashed, WOP is registered as pro, meaning he is not elidgeable.

When I searched for Wop on the PDGA site, I found him under Ams. He has played pro at events but it appears he is a carded am who has not cashed (yet). If there is any questions about where you are registered, just call the PDGA and I am sure they will be more than willing to tell you.
What sponsorship opportunities are there for this event and how can a local certified official help? :)
donnie1980
Jul 16 2007, 01:51 AM
Hole Sponsors are $50
Final 9 will be tailored to your division.
We don't have too many pros here in ofda so any help during the tourny would be great. You know how that goes. Right now its only me not playing. Even moe is getting some Adv Am style.

went and played a warm up round saturday and the course looks great OFDA and Onslow county/ J-ville parks and rec have the course looking really really nice. we also went and threw some drives on the alt course or at least what we remeber of it and the woods that we play thru on 3,4 and especially 8 look GREAT. i am sure you may have already considered this and there is still ton's of time before the event, but there where 2 things i noticed that would be a great addition to the course if addressed. 1) was maybe adding something (dirt, crushed rock anything) to the back of hole 3's tee. it is a long hole and a really short tee pad with a severe step up on the back. anyhting to level and lengthen that tee pad would be a huge help. the only other thing i can think of is maybe some trimming on hole 10. unless you want to make it a roller hole then it is good as is. once again great work guys the course looks imaculate and i can not wait till sept. if you are having work days in the future please post it on our course thread and i will try to get some guys to come up and help.

Thanks to Mike Coloton Asst. TD for securing a host hotel with a great deal!!
Americas Best Value Inn (Formerly the Super8)
Friday and Saturday night package for $50 now you guys have no excuse not to come thats a great deal!
They have a pool and it is about 5 minutes from the course and in walking distance to many restaurants. They have blocked 30 rooms.
To get this rate you need to get a card from Mike to turn in at checkin. When making reservations ask for Sergio Garcia yes like the golfer... tell him you are with the Disc Golf Tournament or Mike Coloton. Should be good to go.

So $50:00 per night, + Tax, approx $53.00. Phone # 910-455-6888.

I would like to see the same thing on hole 4 teepad, it's always been a bit awkward for me and that wooden frame would hold rock/gravel very well. Hole 9 might be another candidate.

on hole 2 of the original front nine, is there a mando, or can you throw a hyzer over the road?
scottfaison
Aug 18 2007, 01:48 AM
As it is normally played, you can throw a shot over the road. That actually is the preferred shot by most right handers.
scottknapp
Aug 18 2007, 09:23 AM
There is no mando on hole #2. You can indeed go over the road. As Scotty mentioned, it is the preferred route by right handers. I even know plenty of left handers, who throw big anhyzers over the road (kinda like a rightys anhyzer on the hole#6 mando). And that is always fun to watch.

Sep 10 2007, 03:33 PM
i have never heard of a 2 on that hole realistically it would take at least a 450' fairway ace for that to happen. i know the mullet of all mullets has had multiple putts for a 3 on it but i heard he has not made one yet. they say if he would quite throwing a thumber on his second shot and park a back hand he could do it. he may have even done it just not that i have heard. now the jump putt that clanged metal earlier this year for a 2 on 11 (i saw that by the way) was also pretty dang sweeeeet. his rollers are almost as sick as his thumber. which by the way he threw a 350' thumber this weekend in a 15 mile an hour head wind. retarded
deoldphart
Sep 10 2007, 05:44 PM
A two would be awsome. 2 500 ft shots, it's possible. Weider things have happened. Like the duece at Kings Cup on a 500 ft double 90 degree hyzer. Forgot who, but sweet. I made a 28ft putt once, that was awsome LOL

i have never heard of a 2 on that hole realistically it would take at least a 450' fairway ace for that to happen
How about a 380ft ace? In doubles this summer I saw Danny shumate throw a roller to the back of the #13 turbo pad (it is a pad used to shorten up #13 its 375 ft from the pin). That was a 620ft. roller folks. Then from 380ft. out he gently threw a 380ft. hyzer right under the pin for a drop in 3. They used his partners putt :D

Excellent tournament, and kudos to Scott and Moe Knapp, and Donnie. This tournament was on point. It was absolute fun. I just loved the layout, and tournament atmosphere. It had a big tournament Pro Atmosphere. You guy's made it special. Always a pleasure to go east of 95. Congrats to Wop, Sweet stuff for a Sweet Guy. ButterCupCake was right there with you. The pressure was good for him and he handeled it well. The Old Fart Baggers had some good time with the competition they had. I was glad to be a part of that. The Unk's long drives, and the putting show I got to witness from Stew and Ed. Really, I was glad I made the final 9 and paid attention to the importantence of putting. Feel like I recieved 3 college semester hours in Putting 101. Wop I never knew?. To the lunch crew, thanks, Burger,Chips, soda, and a Cookie. Thats awsome, lunch and never leave the course. To the big nasty 3000 footer, Ill be back to 5 your butt. I stayed out of the trailor park, but with the power lines, someone may have lost power, sorry.hehe.
Thanks Guys, well done

Thanks to all down east for a very fun event. Had a great time. It is always nice to just be able to play an event sometimes and not have to worry about helping out. OFDA always seems to run great events and I will try to make as many as possible in the future.
Lots of people missed out this weekend on a great event looking forward to the next down east event already.

Wow Joel! Those turned out really great!
Mad props to Donnie for TDing his first event. And Mike Coloton for being the assistant TD. Trust me, those two guys gave there heart and souls to this event. And they did a fabulous job. The Final 9 was fun to watch. It was a nice way to showcase the Ams! I believe in my heart of hearts that this event has a TON of potential! Congrats to all the baggers :oI mean winners.

Professionals already have plenty of events that cater to them. I think it is rather nice to have an event the SHOWCASES ams only. They are the future of the sport.

It was nice, it made me feel appreciated and gave me a since of accomplishment. I think this event will turn in to something big and it should definetly should stay an am event. However, it would be even better if some pros would volunteer. You guys don't stop and realize enough how young golfers look up to you and what you can do with a disc. They want to be like you, throw like you, dress, like you. Think about it.

I will second that as the father of an 11 year old Disc Golfer.

I have no problem showcasing the ams at all. This is why I am 100% in support of this event. I just would like a pro version of the event. It wouldn't take anything away from the ams and it would give many amateur players a chance to play with the pros and / or watch some top players play.

I agree 100%!
I have volunteered at the am crosstown every year that I have been a pro and will ALWAYS volunteer at that tournament. Had I lived closer to Jacksonville, I would have def. done the same for this great event.

True.....I just remember a few years ago when I first started playing how much I watched and wanted to do what advanced and pro golfers were doing.......There are still many that I look up to and are marveled by.

True That, take TThe Pro for example, always willing to teach, MTL, always willing to assist. Good example's of Pro's and helping. Even the not so,not so Young. Why, I like the layout of a final 9 with the top 4, gives the others a chance to join in on the hoopla, galley, and support thier favorite. All fun there.
