Been there. Done that. Sort of.
The property on which our private course is built was timbered several years ago, and they left huge amounts of debris, including large piles of logs. One hole includes throwing off a hill and over some of this.
December '05 we decided to burn the largest of these---about 8' tall, and 100' long. We weren't an hour into it when a light rain started falling and persisted the rest of the day---not enough to put out the fire, but not enough for it to blaze up and consume all the debris. For the next month, it smoldered, with a hot crater in the middle of the pile. Throws to the landing area on this multi-throw hole sometimes disappeared behind the cloud of smoke. As for the burning crater, all I can say is those champion discs aren't as durable as Innova may believe.
