I remember not so long ago when this tournament was an A-Tier for a year. Next weekend, (July 14th/15th), go to Columbia again, or go for the first time if you've never been. Word on the street is that Fred Garver's private course "Garverland" will be utilized for the open and adv. divisions instead of the historical top Oakland course (circus golf :D).

Here's the link to the registration form, Columbia's disc golf club website, and a little article about the history of Fred's course. I found it quite interesting.

more tourney information (http://www.cdgc.org/open07.html)

This is always one of the best in the Midwest. The players party sports a mini-golf tourney, and great beer provided by New Belgium (thanks Travis), and great barbecue (thanks Fred, again!)

If you haven't played Indian Hills since the rainstorm in 2001, time to come back. The course is beautiful. Oakland (back) course is one of my favorites, and I absolutely can't wait to play Garverland this year. Come on, let's make this event huge again! The Columbia Disc Golf Club is one of the most established clubs around, and they really know how to run a great tourney. Don't miss out.

Figures the year that the top course isn't played I can't go. :D

This is a great event and I advise that anyone who can attend do so.

Pretty sure open and advanced will play one round at Garverland, one at Indian Hills, and two on the back course at Oakland.

Everbody else will probably be one on top at Oakland, two on the bottom, and one at Indian Hills.

I'm just speculating, tho. I'd e-mail the TD if you want to know for sure. A lot of the guys in Columbia are "old-school" and I'm not sure how often they read this board.

I have it on pretty good authority that Mr. Greenwood speaks the truth here. All pros and advanced men will play A-O (Albert-Oakland) Back, Indian Hills, GarverLand, and A-O Back.

Adv. Masters, Adv. GM, Adv. Women, all Intermediate and Rec divisions will play Indian Hills, A-O Back, A-O Back, A-O Front.

Of course this could change if they get more than 180 total players. Not expecting that to happen, but it could.

What happened, Jay?....I thought you were going.

Garverland is an awesome course! I was hoping they'd use it for the open. Hopefully Fred's course will help bring in people who were 50/50 on whether they wanted to drive to columbia and play this tourney.

Those are two pretty good places. Shakespeare's whole wheat pizzas are the shizzle. I've got a craving for some of Columbia's really good grub at either Glen's Cafe or Murray's sometime this weekend. When I used to live down there 10 years ago, those were two of my fav's. Then there's always the hustler club at Columbia Billiards, what a sandwich. So many memories, which one do I relive?? :D

Glenn's Cafe was awesome! Great cajun food. But it's been closed down now for about 8 years.

We might hit Flat Branch tonight...Oil Change Stout...yummy!

Murray's rocks as well, but it's sometimes hard to get in there on weekends. It's that packed.

I'm hoping to get down to the 'Speare sometime this weekend for a Masterpiece. Good beer on tap also. If I'm going to a billards room, though, I'm going to Booche's (next door to Columbia Billiards), and grab me a couple of the finest cheeseburgers in the state.

Breakfast Saturday morning will likely be at Lucy's (formerly known as Ron's Country Boy).

It'll be fun hitting the old stomping grounds.

Wow, they must've closed Glen's right after I moved in 1999. I do remember Murry's being a long wait, but always was worth it. I love Booche's burgers too Chappy, how many does it take to fill you up? :D

Never been to Lucy's, but the Heidelburg was always a treat for Sunday brunch.
