I was at Bear Creek a few weeks back and there was some guy out there saying they were planning a new 18 hole course somewhere near 360 and Pioneer (303). Anyone know if this dude knew what he was talking about because I have researched almost everywhere I can think of and have not found anything about it. He also said they were planning a course in the Ft Worth area but I am assuming that is the one in Haltom City. Anyone know of a new course?

So do you know if they are planning an 18 hole course at 360 and Pioneer (303)? That is kind of the Arlington/Grand Prairie border.

There are three courses going into Mesquite. 2 9-holers and 1 18 hole course with 2 tees per hole and a distance marked driving range. The funds and designs have been approved for all of the courses. I am waiting for the Parks dept to get back with me to start clearing some of the holes on the 18 hole course.

I am hope they are too busy dealing with last few weeks of rain to have time to get back with me.

The 18 hole course is going into Paschal park, the 9 hole courses are going into DeBusk and Porter. Debusk will be the longer of the two, Porter will be set up near an elementary school and laid out for beginners.

That is cool that there are so many courses going up I just wish they would put some new ones on this side of town. If they would put tee boxes at Mt Creek Park I would play there a lot. That is a beautiful course but just no course markings. The last time I went out there one of the city workers said they had heard nothing about putting tee pads there so I guess its just kinda on the backburner.

Awesome. 3 new courses going in 15 minutes from where I live. ....and I thought I was giddy when they put up Rockwall. That course is phenomenal.

Any idea who is designing these courses? Also if you guys need some help clearing stuff out send me a PM.

I read this info back in January:

"$400,000 to the City of Kennedale in Tarrant County to acquire 13.3 acres to further develop 38.3-acre City Park by adding a multipurpose trail, disc golf course, fishing pier and other facilities."

There is supposed to be another course going in near Canton but I know that's closer to Dallas.

I am seriously thinking about hitting up the Parks Dept for Grand Prairie and trying to get the ball rolling on finishing out that course on Mountain Creek Lake. I want to try to get them to put 9 more baskets out there and make it an 18 hole course. There is plenty of room to do it just will take a little bit of design. Anyone willing to help out with this if I can get Grand Prairie to finish it off. It really is a nice place and could be a pretty challenging course if laid out right. Maybe if I could at least get them to lay the tee pads for the existing 9 holes with the design for 9 more we could do a mini or something out there each week to raise money for more baskets if they wont buy them at first. I know they just bought brand new baskets due to people stealing them but they still arent secured so maybe I could get them to fix that too!!!

Grand Prairie was ready to install a DG course at Mike Lewis Park (2600 Blk of N. Carrier Pkwy) through local golfer Eric Teddy. Eric has since started his family and can't devote the time it takes to install a course. If you are serious about installing a course, get with Eric, and/or the City of Grand Prairie and run with it!

Here's Eric's profile... http://www.pdga.com/msgboard/showprofile.php?Cat=0&User=4758&what=login

I designed the 18 hole course, Steve Wallace was the primary designer of the 9 hole courses. Well, he and the changes the parks dept insisted on. The took a lot of the teeth out of DeBusk because we had to keep the creeks out of play as much as possible instead of being in play as much as possible like we wanted.

I don't have a map made for Porter Park.

I don't mind water coming into play, unless the discs are not (or technically not) retrievable, like in the big creek at Greenbelt. What kind of water runs through the park?

A couple of run off creeks meet in DeBusc and continue to Paschall. Not very deep except for a few deep holes.

It is more of a liability issue, they will not put up a course where the normal flight lines involve water. This includes being within 50' of the baskets or tees.

It is in the budget, it has been funded.

The initial bids came back too high.

It has just been put back out for bids.

I'm hoping to hear something positive in the next couple of weeks.

Anybody got a landscaping company ? (well really more pouring concrete than landscaping)
