I am in Dallas for a few days.
Hoping to get in a round or 3 between the rain. Anything not under water?
I am guessing Porter, Audobon, and Lake Lew are trashed. What about Rockwall, Cedar Hill or even Crawford?
If I have to drive some, how does Arlington hold up in the monsoon season?
Others?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Ron,
I haven't actually been to Dallas in a few weeks, but I can tell you from living there for a long time that with the rain they've had here lately, your options are pretty slim. Lake Lewisville is definitely out (course is closed due to flooding), and I imagine Audobon, Greenbelt, and Porter are all really sloppy right now. I've heard that Crawford is temporarily shut down due to construction work on a nearby bridge. Cedar Hill is probably your best bet -- there are only a few holes with drainage problems, the rest will just be muddy. And it's one of the best courses around, so you can't go wrong!

The Lake is closed until next week currently..McKinney is closed..the Bon may be okay after some runoff time if they have mowed recently
Porter and GB are actually fine...still muddy in spots, but if you know the lay of the land, you can avoid nasty junk and just make sure you have extra socks and dry shoes for after the round.
Check the OMB VS YGB thread for more info and were we play daily

Both drain pretty good.
Rockwall, you would have to skip a few holes with all this rain, in fact I wonder if this course is even open right now.
Denton and city Lake park in Lewisville are under water.

Fritz Park is great I have played it every day this week. Hole #2's long tee was underwater yesterday but was not this morning. The short tee was fine though, other than that very nice very nice!

Wet and rainy :) Actually, the weather hasn't been too bad this week, but last week it rained almost every day...luckily the course here drains well and we have a small but dedicated group that plays the weekly mini regardless of the weather.
I'm heading back to Dallas on Friday for a long 5-day weekend - probably going to play the Lewisville...errr Cedarville Open :D

Thanks guys,
I went to Cedar Hill on Wed am. Yep, it rained. Played both courses. All of the holes were equally accessible and muddy. No crowd at all.
Tee signs and numbers on the baskets were great. Very inviting to a guest player. Back home we are experiminting with some "next tee" indicators on the bottom of the basket and some "which placement" indicators on the tee sign. Hope to ease navigation for the non-locals.
Like a dummy, I am going to play again today. Rockwall is on the list.

I'm curious as to how rockwall held up to the rain so let us know how it was Ron.

I really enjoyed Rockwall. Not sure how to answer the water question. I was numb to the water after this week.
I got to the course about noon on Friday. No rain all morning. But the water was everywhere. The wood holes down in the bottom were cut off. Had to walk around to play them. Water over the shoes in several places.
Course still a bit green. Mowing, signs, brush piles, etc are in progress. Should be just awesome in a few months. BTW, the tee pads were PERFECTLY level with the ground. Impressive.
Got a bit lost, but was rescued by Chris (Kris?) aka Kapow. Great host. Thanks.
I wish this course was in the ground when I was in D. And while I am wishing -- I wish Audobon wasn't plagued by high grass and high water -- still one of my all time favorites.
Tried to hook up with the exczar for a round of golf, but with all the rain, had to settle for beating Bill in a round of BBQ eating. The wus didn't want to play in the rain. Go figure.
Hope to be back next summer for more golf.

Rockwall usually drains pretty nice. Ive played the day after it has rained alot and the course wasnt too bad. On holes 4, 5, and 6 the water is definitely up over the shoes in some spots, but the holes remain playable. There is some standing water on 3 and 9 but nothing bad. Other than that its just a soggy round. Try not to bust your *****....there are a few ups and downs.
It just rained AGAIN today for a little but there is sunshine out right now, so the course should play allright today. I really wish it would stop raining in DFW so I can have a pair of dry shoes for a change.
Oh and Ron thanks for the round. Glad to see someone else had the fuzzy ones to get out on a muddy course. Maybe I'll catch you next summer. Take Care buddy.

I played Audubon on Monday afternoon...well, most of it anyway (played 1-9 and 16-18...the short version of the course). All of the boxes were muddy, but only a few of them weren't playable (1 and 4 were very slippery, and 8-9 were under a few inches of standing water). Warning: the mosquitos were hellacious!
