Just wondering if anyone has played this new course. The pictures of the course looked pretty nice on the website. www.4141discgolf.com/pymcourse.html (http://www.4141discgolf.com/pymcourse.html) It's not that far from Moraine and I thought Chris D. might have made the trip.
Comments/Feedback???

I'm pretty sure that Jerry Gotcher and J. Gary Dropcho have been up there to check it out, although I think that was fall of 2006.

I have not played Pymatuning....yet. J Gary played the course last year with designer, Rich Givens, but baskets were not installed at that time. Currently, the back nine is permanently installed and the front nine is in fund-raising mode. This Saturday, June 30, the club from Warren, OH will be hosting their weekly tournament at Pymatuning....and they will be setting up portable baskets so the 18-hole layout can be played in full. The tournament begins at 10:00 am and driving directions are provided on the web link provided above.
There are lots of options for Pittsburgh disc golfers this Saturday:
The Lodge Monthly (Indiana)....12:00 pm
Pymatuning State Park...........10:00 am
Toss for SAM Fund-raiser........11:00 am
(visit www.pfds.org (http://www.pfds.org) for details on the SAM fund-raiser and the temporary course to be set up for this special event)

While the Pymatuning event is a borderline conflict (it's more than a 1 1/2 hour drive from Pittsburgh) I would hope that future Lodge monthlies are scheduled so as not to conflict with other Pittsburgh events, especially important ones such as fundraisers.

I'd be happy to try to schedule Pymatuning things around other Pittsburgh area events where possible. We're sort of on our own up here so I suppose I'll have to figure out how to keep my pulse on the action!

The course is located in NW Pennsylvania, about an hour or so East of Cleveland at PA's largest State Park. There are 3 sets of tees and many alternate pins, allowing for FOUR permanent layouts (red, white, blue, gold). With 6 par 4s and 3 par 5s, overall course par is 66 for all layouts.
The area we used was mostly maintained already, so it's not too rough and rugged (read, not much shule).
This area of Pennsylvania is really booming with beautiful places to play. The PFDS group in Pittsburgh has put together several awesome courses. If you haven't been out this way, there's plenty here to warrant a trip!
We've submitted the paperwork for a one day PDGA event on Sunday, September 23rd, to introduce the course. Hope to see you out there.
Pymatuning State Park DGC is outstanding to say the least. Course designer, Rich Givens, did an excellent job with the overall par-66 design which will challenge any one of today's top players in the sport. The beautiful and lengthy layout provides "room to boom" off the tee, yet requires course management accuracy in many areas of the design. I would not be surprised if this championship-caliber course will end up on several players' list of favorites. :)
Attached below is a scorecard I used while playing a one round tournament (gold tees) there several weeks ago. I will definitely be mailing my entry fee for the September 23 tournament as soon as registration becomes available. I would highly recommend you all do the same!

I'd love to join you for a round at Pymatuning, but I'll be somewhere else (http://usdgc.com/registered-competitors/) that week!

Finished installing some new baskets today, completing hole 1, 2, 8, & 9. I'll complete hole 7 tomorrow.
4 more holes to go and the whole thing is playable! As it sits, it's possible to play a great 14 hole loop (that's the reason those holes were done first, they flow to one another). As soon as front nine sponsors are wrapped up we'll complete those remaining holes and get improved tees and signs.
