I posted here 4 years ago about a new 11 hole course at Winter Park in Kewaunee, WI. Ever since, I have been working and pushing to expand to 18 holes here. Last fall we installed 3 more for our Ace Race (14 holes). This year we finally got approval for 18 holes. BUT, I had to redesign the course because we had problems with the long grass and inability to get it cut and the unsafe mowing and large equipment need to cut the steep hills. Only 6 of the original 11 holes remain. The rest are all new this year so it took a little bit of time this summer before things were complete. Instead of just finishing off the 14 hole course with 4 more holes that were mostly done, we had to start from scratch on an additional 4 holes. So, any Winter Park haters out there that may have played and lost discs in the long grass, the new design is off the hills and areas of ultra long grass. There are still spots that may eat a disc if you shank it, so be accurate and scout the fairways. But construction is mainly complete and this is now an 18 hole beauty, extremely well balanced, offers a little of everything, and will continue to be improved upon in hopes of drawing many more players. Once this gets WELL established, we have plans for two more loops of 9 holes each far into the future. Think 9 long wooded holes like the Bear at Highbridge, and 9 more in a gently rolling grassy meadow, huge mature trees, manicured fairways, complete with elevated tees and greens, all overlooking the valley (like on top of Hole #15). Kewaunee is a small community, but we have the potential for an extraordinary disc golf experience!
