went out and played the course yesterday.
Awesome job getting the longs cemented!!
I don't like the new long 8 as much, but I understand the property line issue.
The new long 16 is an interesting hole. Should be a good strategy hole (go for 2 and risk a big number or take an easy 3) once its clean. At this point, the layup is the only thing I could get to work.

Thanks Rob.
Ed K., Norm W. and a few other club members have been working hard to get them poured. I think all but four will be concrete by BVC. 5, 11, 15, 18 will be the crush and run.

Update: Two more of the long pads were poured today so that makes 15 and 18 the only ones with crush and run. Once again, big thanks to Ed K and Norm W for all their hardwork.
Matt Keatts is working on putting up the pre-reg. list. Should be today or tomorrow.
Also, big thanks to Mike Norris for the help with Paypal.

I've not yet heard about any Friday dubs as of now but we always have them Thursday for anyone looking to get in some practice at the Valley. The front and back tees vary depending on how the dice are roll'n. *6:00 & a 5 spot gets ya in the ace pool.

Halton is leading by 5 over me. Halton smoked the longs shooting 52. My 56 was the second best round.
Fred Moran is in 3rd 2 behind me and Beave rounds out the lead card 3 back of me.
Kyle Jackson smoked the shorts with a 43 and was leading by 4 going to the second round. I imagine he's still leading.

Halton got me by 4. I cut it to 1 with the hot round of 55 in the morning on the longs and then started 3353 on the shorts and that pretty much did it.
Its not like I gave it to him, he still played a very solidround to take it.
Beave came back and grabbed third, Fred 4th and McQuay was last cash.
Kyle won advanced by 13.

Bull City in Nov 2006 shows 54.83. Add 0.5-0.7 tougher and you get the score you shot for 1004.

Jul 15 2007, 08:16 PM
i would say its almost 1.5 - 2 harder.
13 was a very easy three and good chance at two.
Now its a possible blow up and a very good three
16 went from a pretty good two to a a pretty good three.
Either way, I guess I'm perplexed how I can get the same ratings for two different scores (I mean, I know the answer, I just don't agree with it).
Oh well, I dont need a rating to tell me I played a good round.
ck34
Jul 15 2007, 08:23 PM
Tell me everyone threw the same disc the same way on every hole both rounds. That the lighting was the same, the wind the same, that player energy was the same. Courses will always play slightly different every time and our system accounts for that, something a fixed number can never accomplish. And in fact, a fixed number wasn't available because the course was changed as you pointed out. That happens everywhere with slight course tweaks every year including just simple growth of the foliage.
MTL21676
Jul 15 2007, 08:49 PM

I've never seen a double digit round rating before.
He did not play the first round.
A score of 126 represents 72 over par (4 plus par every hole missed).
The system doesn't understand that you shouldn't rate that.
It will be fixed at the offical ratings.

Thanks Juff! And thanks to Jack, Jerry, Skeets, Ed, Norm and everybody else who had a hand in pulling this thing off at the last minute. You guys did a great job, especially considering the short amount of prep time and limited experience with sanctioned tournaments. I was very happy to hold on for the win this weekend, I got my first adv win here at the 05 Big Valley Challenge. That was the same year Sjur took out Diamond Dave and GTW; some all-time record round ratings were set by Dome, Special Ed and Sheffy; and Kyle Jackson won intermediate (on crutches).
Congrats to all of this weekend's winners, and Good luck at worlds Kyle!!!! Bring it back to NC!!!
