A bunch of us Lexintonians are coming and I talked up the tournament last year with a bunch of my new Indiana buddies (The B's) and they are gonna be there.

Any word on a course map for the Temp course yet?

Looking forward to playing Advanced and getting my butt whooped.

The temp course map should be finished up within the next few days. Paul is running an event over on that course this weekend, but from what I hear the holes are the same as last year. The original course will have about 9 holes that are in the B placements, they are a bit harder. There also may be some rope out in the letter holes, USDGC style to keep people from just unleashing. They tried that out back in March and I think the majority liked that rope. There should not be any -15 or whatever Barry shot! :)

That BBQ/Player's Party at the host hotel last year was memorable, is that going to happen again? I see the PP is scheduled to be at Quaker Steak...

I am pretty sure the host hotel party is not going to happen. Quaker Steak will be a nice atmosphere for everyone though and they have been sponsoring events for us this year so it will be nice to give back to them!

If the BHMO has 8 women, how many spots will be paid out? What is the estimated payout for women?

JRauch
Jul 13 2007, 10:16 AM
The TD's talked about this last night. They said that they will pay up to 50% but at least 40% and they are going to add the same amount of cash to the open women as they are to the masters division. As of now they have over $9000 raised, but 25% of that goes to the leukemia society.

It was GREAT. There seemed to be well over 50+ casual and tournament players in attendance.
The format worked well (particularly the "tag teaming" between instructors).
The 1on1 time was particularly beneficial for many players.
I could see this growing to be HUGE!
I imagine there is a wealth of constructive comments from many of the people there. For example, I could benefit from an entire clinic dedicated to disc flight mechanics and disc selection (speed, glide, fade, etc...).

THANKS TO ALL INVOLVED IN ARRANGING THIS AWESOME COMMUNITY BENEFIT!

ChrisWoj

I don't know about his tournament demeanour, but I met Brad before the final nine and he seemed like a genuinely cool guy. Approachable and easy to talk to for a simple am like myself.

I have to say, this tournament was unique. I can't say it was the most fun I've ever had, or the most value for my buck (both go to AmNats)... but the overall experience blew me away. The sheer number of pros, their approachability, the chance to after my own rounds were done actually get to watch them play their playoffs, their final nine... it was FANTASTIC to see that.

I'm used to, at each big event I've played (the few), seeing their scores but not getting to watch them play at all. I loved it all. Before the Final Nine started I was ticked they were making us stick around and couldn't pick up winnings (I didn't cash thanks to my abysmal first round, ibuprofen-land welcomed me for the next two though... but my car-ride cashed in Adv) but after seeing the Final Nine it was worth it for the experience.

I absolutely support Brad or any other player that's struggling to make a living on the road and plays in the division that he expects to make the most money in. There's no cap on the pro masters division.

There's a legitimate question of whether TD's should have pricing/cash added policies that would make it more profitable for guys like Brad to play open. I'd argue they should, but in the meantime he's got every right to choose whichever division he wants. Nobody tried to run Hale Irwin out of the Senior PGA tour when he was dominating.

Luke Butch
Jul 23 2007, 01:31 AM
I got to talk a little with Brad today and said he would have played Open but his putting has been in a slump in the previous month, plus he sent in his entry fee to pre reg and the TD signed him up for Masters(hes played it here past few years), so he just stuck in it. Dean Tannock was reg'd for masters as well but had an injury and didnt play.

good to see Marty Peters play very well when he hasn't been playing many tournaments. a 980 rated non-local taking 6th at a NT? hoping he can keep this up and get back to playing like he was a few years ago.

Great shooting Schick!!!

ChrisWoj
Jul 23 2007, 02:31 AM
Marty Peters is a beast of a player, but also a **** good family guy from everything I've heard from guys that know him better than I. I support that 100%!

On a personal note, just making a ruckus about this everywhere to make sure it gets fixed: Chris Wojciechowski 2nd round was 51 not 57 in Advanced. I'm antsy to get my first ever 1000 rated round, no hard feelings about me pointing it out all over, I understand working into the night to get it up is [censored] awesome and I'm sure EVERYBODY in the tournament appreciates it and none more than I!

Way to go getting ALL of the results up timely Columbus Flyers! Big hand for you guys!
