It's official! I played it Saturday so I know it's true!

Roosevelt Park in Albuquerque is open for public play!!!

Basically the same old Rosey lay-out, with a few minor tweaks (3 pin positions for each hole!!!). All new grass, new Tee Pads, new Innova baskets, new Tee signs, it's just like the old days, only better!

You will enjoy playing in Albq. Roosevelt is a fun course (only 9 baskets, 18 Tee Pads) that has seen it's share of good golfers and part-time hackers as well. Two of Albq.'s other courses are situated in desert-type environments, so they play quite a bit differently. Their fourth course is located in Rio Rancho (suburb to the North) in a nice little neighborhood park that sees a lot of non-golf traffic.

I first played Roosevelt in 1985 before the baskets were installed. They had 18 trash cans that were used for the targets. I'll never forget it because that was the first time I got to play a Disc Golf course that I didn't set up myself :D. Over the years I participated in many of the New Mexico State Championships there, and once I even edged out Gregg Hosfeld for a 4th place finish(one highlight of my golf career). It was sad to see the park in decline the last part of the 90's and into 2000. The city stepped up and allocated major funds to rennovate the park and contrary to the rumors, they kept and even upgraded the course!

Definately worth stopping to play this jewel in the rugged Southwest!
