ok, TD calls in the players due to lightning/rain, players are instructed to mark their lies with a mini and go to clubhouse: TD says a decision to resume will be made at 7pm, until then, hang tight....
can the player:
1- practice putting/driving during delay?
2- practice putting/approaching from their "in play" mini?
3- drink beer?

The rule is better quoted like this:
B. Practice Throws. A player who throws a practice throw or an extra throw with any disc any time after the start of his or her round and prior to his or her finishing the last hole of the round (except for throws that must be re-thrown in accordance with the rules, provisional throws made pursuant to 803.01 C and 803.01 D (3), or throws during a suspension or postponement of play ) shall receive one penalty throw. The practice throw or extra throw must be observed by any two players or an official.
With the bold skipping over the "except for" I got the wrong idea at first.

thanks (I didn't see the "except" either Bruce).
so, you CAN practice putting from your "in play" marker.
maybe bordering on unsportsmanlike, but legal right?

Considering that you can practice tee shots for your first hole in a round up to two minutes before it starts, I don't see any reason to consider practicing from your lie (once the round resumes) as much different.

Yeah, I agree with both you and Chuck, legal but not sporting.

I see nothing unsporstmanlike in practicing any shot from any where if it is legal then it is legal, why is that different than practicing a tee shot from your first hole?
