I am planning a trip to central NY from Bowling Green, KY and I am looking for some couses suited for beginners somewhere along the way. Preferably something where my daughter can't loose too many discs. Thanks for any info. Greg "Goatman" Shearer

the Town of Warwick "course" in Warwick, NY just over the NJ/NY border into southern NY State has 6 layouts. 4 layouts are on the original Animal course and 2 layouts are in Wolfe Woods behind the original course.

The 4 layouts on the Animal course are a result of 2 concrete tees and 2 baskets on all 18 holes. The course is well-maintained and beginners are less apt to lose a disc than those with long arms. The easiest of the 4 layouts is very beginner-friendly at Par 54 and 4800 feet.

The Warwick course has gained a reputation as being one of the best courses you'll find anywhere.

Dunham Park in Central NJ is located between rt 287 & 78. Great 9 hole course with a huge playground for in between rounds for your daughter. Check out the course directory for directions.

Thanks for the help, but I wasn't planning to go the far east. I am traveling toward Syracuse, probably up 81. That is if we don't go through Ohio instead. Still looking at all the options.

I havent played the courses, but I'd recommend going to cnydga.org and hitting up their forum for recommendations on beginner friendly courses in the area.

I already posted on the Ithica site, but that is at the end of my journey. I am looking for something in Ohio or Pennsylvania about half way there. The directory listings don't really give me enough information to make a decision on. I do appreciate all the help though.

Schenley in Pittsburgh is an old school course that has Rec length.

If you're going to Columbus, OH, Blendon Woods is also a Rec course.

Though it would be tragic to miss the world class courses at Moraine State Park, Deer Lakes Park and Knob Hill in the Pittsburgh area, if you're looking for a true beginners course I also recommend Schenley. From the red tees, the course is suitable for novice, junior or lid throwers: most holes play in the 150-200 foot range. The signature hole #2 offers a beautiful open downhill shot with the Pittsburgh skyline visible over your shoulder.

I find Hickory Run in White Haven, PA to be relatively short and not overly challenging (I've seen large groups of children playing the course before.) It might be a good option for you and your daughter (and it's in a beautiful state park.)

I was actually thinking about hitting the Summer Solstice after I drop my daughter off at her grand parents. It all depends on timing. I won't know for sure until I get everything together.
