Player's throw lands under dead branch not attached to tree. None of the branch is directly in front of the disc, but part of the branch extends past a line tangent to the front edge of the disc and perpendicular to the line of play. The offending portion of the branch is about three feet to the right of the line of play. Is this "between the lie and the hole"? Does a casual obstacle have to cross the line of play in front of the disc to be between the lie and the hole?

yes, it is between the lie and the hole. cannot be moved.
At least that's how I would play it.

I would think that if the rules authors intended that rule to apply only to obstacles on the line of play, they would have used the phrase "on the line of play." Given the defined terms they did use, "between the lie and the hole," it sounds to me like they are describing the trapezoidal shaped area from the basket to where you might legally stand and throw. So that area would be wider than the line of play, but kind of ambiguous as to the branch or stick you are describing.

bile... I swear I taste bile... rules are making me ill. Ambiguous stinking rules and people how cant play to the spirit of the game or fairness.
1. Play it from the lie. 2 meters applies :D
2. Don't move anything in your way on purpose.
3. Be nice.
4. Don't be a jerk unless it is funny to 3/4 of the card.
5. Make putts not excuses.
6. Plant your dang foot right.
7. Make me laugh once in the round.
8. Make one good putt. Those are cool.
9. Don't tell me "I'm hungry" cause I might buy you a burger.
10. If you are in the game for the money play Open.
