I am not sure if a thread has been started yet on this event, but can anyone give some details about this? Fees, schedule each day, etc. I have heard it's only one division, but does anyone have anything else they could share. It's getting close and if we only play one round a day, there is plenty to keep you busy in Toronto! Can't wait....

Do you need a passport if you are just crossing each day? Better yet do we need one if we drive across for the weekend.

I'm pretty sure (I checked into this for worlds) that if you are just driving across, you just need a drivers license AND a copy of your birth certificate.

A word to the wise... if you're flying and haven't gotten your passport yet you'll want to expedite the process or go directly to a city where you can get one made in a day. 11 1/2 weeks and my girlfriend still does not have hers yet. Supposed to go to Toronto this weekend. Sit and wait time.

A little info on the event. It will be a round a day for 3 days on a modified Island course with a pro par over 60. All tees are asphalt. The tournament is an NT event. There will be a players package, party and food at the event. The event is also a USDGC qualifier. It is rumoured that Avery Jenkins is prepared to pay the entry fees or everybody and anybody that beats him. ;)

Here's what the Via Rail Canada site has to say:
Schedules, fares and reservations
Convenient and comfortable, the train is also economical. Your round-trip Comfort class ticket between Toronto and Windsor will cost you no more than $114 (Comfort Supersaver fare purchase five days in advance, taxes extra.)
You have the choice of several departures per day in either direction.
Note that the although the train does not cross the US border at Detroit, you can easily do so from Windsor.
Here's the website if you want to investigate more ...

Looks like passports may not be needed when flying to Canada for this summer:
WASHINGTON (June 8) - The Bush administration plans to suspend some of its new, post-Sept. 11 requirements for traveling abroad, hoping to placate Congress and irate summer travelers who've had their vacations thwarted by delays in processing their passports.
An announcement could come as early as Friday, according to officials and lawmakers briefed on the matter. The proposal would temporarily lift a requirement that U.S. passports be used for air travel to and from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda, several lawmakers said Thursday.
The suspension would allow the State Department to catch up with a massive surge in applications that has overwhelmed passport processing centers since the rule took effect this year. The resulting backlog has caused up to three-month delays for passports and ruined or delayed the travel plans of thousands of Americans.
Under the proposal, travelers would have to present a State Department receipt, showing they had applied for a passport, and government-issued identification, such as a driver's license.
Those without passports would receive additional security scrutiny, which could include extra questioning or bag checks, according to one official familiar with the discussions. Rep. Heather Wilson, R-N.M., said the suspension would last until the end of September.

Jun 08 2007, 07:26 PM
It's now official:
"Responding to protests, the State Department and the Homeland Security Department said they would temporarily relax a rule requiring passports for air travel to Canada, Mexico, Bermuda and the Caribbean.
From now until the end of September, they said, travelers would be allowed to fly to those destinations if they present government-issued identification, such as a driver's license, and a receipt from a State Department Web site showing they had applied for a passport.
The reprieve applies only to those with applications pending, not those who apply in coming days for travel later this summer. Travelers with receipts but not passports should expect extra scrutiny."
Too late to apply for passport now since the waiver only covers those who had already applied and not yet gotten it. You can still drive there though and get in and out.

In order to attract more players, the event is being reduced from a 3 day Saturday-Monday event (that would have ended on the Canada Day holiday) to a Saturday-Sunday 2 day event. 3 rounds of 18 holes will be played on the new 8234 par 63 long tees layout, followed by a Final 9 for the top 4 Open division players on Sunday afternoon. This revised format will enable regional players to be home on Sunday evening and at their jobs on Monday.

If added money is the main draw to tournament decisions perhaps YOU should add the money!
Too many whiners, weak players rewarded, poor shots go unpunished with rules changes, discs stolen...this used to be a great game...

Toronto's CN Tower gets lit up with LEDs
http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.engadget.com/media/2007/06/cn-tower-440.jpg
Canadians may have been shut out of today's iPhone madness (some may say mercifully) but they now at least have some blinkin' lights to distract them, as Toronto's CN Tower has been bathed in LEDs just in time for Canada Day. Whipped up by Boston's Color Kinetics (to the tune of $2.4 million), the system consists of 1,300 shoe-box sized light fixtures that can be used to create a range of different effects. According to Reuters, the tower will be red and white by default, with special color effects at the top of each hour, and additional light shows planned for holidays and special events. While the LEDs help to make the system more energy efficient, they obviously won't last forever, with a ginormous lightbulb-changing job in store ten years from now.

Your joking about the promises and added cash right??? Cuz ill tell you what if I drove all the way to Toronto for a NT that promised 3000 for 1st place and I got there and all the sudden its wasnt that much for 1st I would be extremely upset and might ask for a refund on my entry fee!!!
Why do you think people advertise huge amounts of added cash??? Its not to look cool. Its to attract all the top players in the country to the event!!!
Well I hope this is not true but if it is that is really unfortunate and I hope all the players still have a great weekend none the less.
