The river is high as they are releasing water from flooded Lake Waco. The holes on Cameron-West are all playable. Baskets 5 and 6 on the Beast are under water. The dirt road between the two ponds and the teebox for #7 is under water, but the basket is usable. I'm not sure about #8. The basket is located next to the river but on higher ground.

Sorry for the delay on this info. Here is the list as it stands as of 6pm Tuesday. (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/tournament_results.php?TournID=7048#Open)
Friday Registration and Tournament HQ will be at the Red Wood Shelter near 16 tee on The Original.
If there are any spots left on Saturday you will need to be signed up no later than 9am. If you know you are going to play this event you should sign up right now here, (http://www.maceman.com/cgi-bin/agora.cgi?product=Registration) and not have to wonder if there will be any spots when you get there.
The meeting will start at 9:30am at the Red Wood Shelter for all divisions.
Doubles will be pick your partner. Flex start between 4pm and 6pm. If I am there before that you will be able to start before that. Any division with 3 or more teams will play. All am teams $20 and all pro teams $30. Sign up at the Red Wood Shelter near 16 tee on the Original.
There will be a few changes due to the abundance of water on the Beast. According to the Parks Department the release of water is supposed to be constant and consistent through out the week. That means that it is very likely that some changes will need to be made on The Beast. Those decisions and changes will be made on Friday.

She knows of 2 other ladies who will be signing up to play in the intermediate womens division (she spoke to one of them on the phone last night). Counting the lady already on the players list, there should be at least 4 intermediate women playing in the Waco tournament.

baldguy
Jun 11 2007, 12:10 PM
even par is not that bad, either. Of course, JD absolutely destroyed the beast both rounds to make it look like everyone else shot like crap. The alternate beast layout for this event probably played about the same as the normal... SSA should be pretty close for both layouts. hole 5's basket and most of its fairway was under water. So was hole 6's teepad and the access road to 6's basket and 7's teepad. This made for one really tough hole: 5's teebox to 7's basket with a ton of water in between. Teeoff from a hill into a headwind that wants to push most rhbh shots towards the water. If you kept it left... the road and beyond was OB too. Top that off with the fact that it was about a 550 foot hole and the basket is on a hill with water behind, to the left, and to the right... that hole more than made up for the easy alternates that replaced #6, #7, and #15. The water was high on the old course too... long #17 was only only parred a couple times that I know of.
simply put: JD tore it up and demolished the competition. Even par on the day was still a very good score. Besides... payout is based on the entry fees and the number of participants... at least those who played Waco supported a charity and one of the longest running events in Texas.

some of you people have such thin skin. All I was saying is that it would have cost me more money to play Waco $60 vs $50 and the hotel and food costs than it did to play a C-tier in Oklahoma. Which Drew did a great job of running with the bad weather.
I am sure if you ask Donald if that even par was a great score he would not agree. Maybe in Advanced but Donald is a great open player and that score does not represent his abilities.

SuperGirl (Nicole) had a great time at this years Waco Open. She really enjoyed playing with Linda, Deidre, and Mary Beth. It was a great card.
The Beast was tough on her this year. I am sure she will never forget hole 5 on the beast (hole 5s tee box to hole 7s basket). In the second round she had a quadruple circle 11 on hole 5. She threw 4 consecutive shots into the water, losing 2 of her favorite discs. She did a little better on hole 5 in round 3. She had a good drive into the middle of the fairway. Her second throw looked like it would clear the water and make it onto the hill where the basket was. Unfortunately it landed in the water 1 foot short of the hill. Her next shot hit the hill and rolled into the water beside the hill. She then hit the uphill putt for a double circle 6. So in two rounds she was in the water 6 times on that one hole.
She did much better on the west course. She shot a 67 (round 1) and a 69 (round 4) for an average of 68. This is much better than the 90 average she had on the Beast.
I want to thank everyone for holding a great tournament. Nicole and I had a great time. We hope to be back next year.
Thanks..Rick

Mace,
Any chance you could update the layouts for the divisions on the PDGA Tour page so that the preliminary round ratings are more accurate?
Thanks,
Lou

I'm pretty sure he'll be in Canada for the next few weeks. Maybe the internet lines up there are still thawing out from the winter. :D
