I live in Austin, TX and will be flying to Denver where I will then rent a car and drive to Grand Junction and back.
What would be some highly recommended course stops along the way?

hey allen, missed your post previously on another thread:
Thanks for the info, Martin. We have to decide whether we will drive through Colorado or Wyoming. Would you recommend Salt Lake City and surounding area? We will pend our first night in Las Vegas and need to figure where night #2 will be and SLC was one idea. Whaddya think? Also, good to see there are other old-schoolers out there!! .........
hate to say it but there is better opportunity for great disc golf going east on I-70 from I-15 in utah, instead of going north to salt lake. the reason for that would be the 4-5 world class disc golf courses before you get to denver, and once out of the mountains denver is right there, where there are craploads of more great disc golf courses.
so lets see, from vegas a 5-6 hour drive to grand junction that has two very challenging courses and one pitch and putt.
1) palisade
2) matchett
3) ross park (pitch and putt)
both palisade and matchett would take the better part of a day to play combined, unless your young and you can run through them.
an hour and a half east of grand junction is glenwood springs, which has a great course too, that course is probably a must play.
after glenwood you can go to aspen ski resort (lift ride to course $?) an hour away, or continue on I-70 an hour and a half to copper mountain and frisco courses (10 minutes apart). as a side trip from copper mountain is leadville (30 minutes south), where they have a great course.
after that, you drop down to denver an hour away from frisco. ratings? (my personal)
1) palisade and glenwood are both great
2) leadville
3) aspen (rating would be better but you have to pay)
4) frisco
5) matchett (its like playing on the moon)
6) copper mountain (lots of hiking up and down)
7) ross park
hope this helps.....
thanks martinb.

don't forget to stop at snowmass village. we are roughly 40 minutes from I-70 and glenwood springs. we will have two courses (18holes) set up by june 8. this also coincides with our chili and brewfest with ziggy marley. it is free if you hike up 15 min. or $6 for a lift ride. we are also 10 minutes to aspen. i don't think they will have their course up until the end of june. a previous post stated that you had to pay to play in aspen. not true. the course is free. you have to pay to ride the gondola, but, you can also drive up ajax mountain to the top. just ask a local when you get into town, and they will tell you the way up. between glenwood springs and aspen, there are now 5 courses you can play. aspen mountain, 2 in snowmass, pitch and putt in carbondale, and glenwood springs. you can't beat that with a stick. make sure you make the time to rally down highway 82 to play some fine courses. send me a message if you want to hook up to play snowmass. i am the course designer and am up there everyday.

The weather here is horrible, the air is too thin, the grass is too green and the mountains are too ... uh ... big.
Yer going to have a really hard time having fun up here, I sure do.
Bring your understable discs!
BTW ... I'm sure you'll have a great trip. I'm in Carbondale, about 10 min from the Glenwood Springs Course. It's in the long layout, and playing great right now.
Forgot to mention. Frisco is closed [for sure ... due to beetle kill]. Copper is closed [pretty sure].
From Grand Juntion on I-70 ... Matchette, Palisade, Glenwood Springs, Snowmass, Leadville ... then Denver area. I don't think you'll find anything that good on I-80.
