For all those that have been asking me about this tournament, it's Back!! this time on September 22, 2007

I will again be hosting the Dunn Memorial Java Classic in McKinney, TX. This event will again be a non-sanctioned event on the Harmony Hills temp course with 2 rounds of 18. For those of you who played it last year you know what a great course this is! The course again this year will offer lots of OB rope, island holes and everything you experienced last year. The pond in now filled to capacity, so the layout will be a little different, but still just as challenging. We will again have lots of raffle items, CTP's both rounds and we will be giving away at least 1 basket as well.

There is Friday night doubles at the course $20 per team for AMs and $30 per team for Pros.

Registration at the course Friday night and Saturday morning until 8:45am sharp!!

Entry Info

Four competitors make a division

All Pro, Pro Masters, Pro Women's $48
All Adv Men, Adv Masters, Adv Women's $38
All Int Men and Women $33
Rec men and Women $28
JR $23
*Additional $5 ace entry for all divisions

Online registration is available at titledisc (http://www.titledisc.com) .

This is again a fundraising event benefiting local ministries through Dunn Memorial Baptist Church. $5 of each players entry fee will be donated toward outreach programs organized and run by Dunn Memorial members. An additional $3 will be used to help fund the lunch provided to the players at this event.

The field is limited to 90 competitors and the course will be in great condition with mowed fairways and 30ft rings around baskets to help define the greens. I have purchased baskets and will be installing sleeves on the land in the coming month to help improve course conditions.
Go online to www.dunnmbc.com (http://www.dunnmbc.com) for more info or a registration form.

This is an all points bulletin for sponsors. We are looking for any and all types of sponsorship from CTP prizes to raffles to ring of fire stuff. I already have several great items and will be contributing a basket to the event for a raffle item, but other items and cash are still needed.

If anyone is interested please contact me at 214-577-1119 or PM me.

Awesome! Glad to hear it's back for another year. I didnt get to play the actual tourney last year, but I played doubles the night before and the course was very fun. Hopefully I can play the full event this time around :)

Now that the pond is full are you still going to have that one hole (#4 or 5 i think) that plays directly over it? That would be suh-weet!

Shaine
May 17 2007, 07:29 PM
That hole will play a little different. I am looking at the idea of creating an island with hay bales and the water on the back side of the green. It would considerably shorter, but equally as challenging.

Shaine
Jun 14 2007, 04:08 PM
The course will be even better this year. Permenant baskets all over the course, hay bail islands for the holes that require it. The pond in filled and the grass is green!!

Also, we are going to a cash payout for all division this year!! Since we are non-sanctioned, I figured I would make it as attractive as possible. We are hoping to fill it up!!

This is incredible news. This was one of the coolest layouts for a "temp course" I've ever seen. I recommend everyone come and play this thing because it's a course that has no comparable. I still daydream about some of those holes.

For those that are interested in supporting this event, I just got a fresh shipment of 180g glow ontario rocs in. We are selling them for $15 each. PM me if you are interested.

Also, this coming Saturday I will be out at the property doing some work to get the course ready. I could use a few good hands. I will be there at about 7am. See the 1st post in this thread for driving directions.

Just wanted to say thanks to Ron Silliman and Mike Brown for coming out and helping this weekend at the course. We got all of the sleeves set and some mowing done. We will be out there again this Saturday doing more mowing and tree trimming and then we should be about ready. Looks like we will be able to get the course opened a few weekends before the event for people to come out and play.

Hey Shane,Thanks to you!!! Come out and play this course, pond shot, island green, and ob rope.Shane what is the distance on the course?

Shaine
Aug 20 2007, 08:47 PM
Thanks Ron!!

Shorts are approx 5560ft
Longs are approx 6500ft

I can promise that all those that come out will have a balst. We are going to feed everyone a great meal, lots of giveaways, raffles, and a basket or two will be given out. If you have any questions or doubts about how great this event is, just ask someone that played it last year.

Oh, and if all that isn't incentive enough to come out maybe a cash payout for all divisions will get you pumped up enough to come to McKinney.

Shaine
Aug 23 2007, 05:24 PM
This is another call to arms. We are having another work day at the course. If any of you would like to get a look see at the course for the 22nd, please come out and help us trim a few trees and mow some grass. We will get started at 7am on Saturday. Driving directions to the course are on the first page of this thread.

Additionally, I only have 15 Glow Ontario Rocs left, so if you are interested, please let me know ASAP.

I could use a few good hands for some last minute tree trimming and brush hauling on Saturday. We are working from 7am until we finish. PM me or give me a call on my cell if you are free and would like to help out.

Thanks to everyone that made it out yesterday. We had 25 show up for the preview and all seemed to have a good time. I will be putting some more time into the course in the coming two weeks to fine tune it even more for the classic. For those that want shorter grass on the back 5 holes you will get it. I will also look for the discs that found there way to the grassy heavens. :D

Remember, tell everyone you know if you liked the course or not. Word of mouth will go a long way in helping this event grow.

We got all of the West pasture mowed this week. For those of you that lost a disc on labor day, we found a few. Mike, we never found your Roc. :( We did find a Beast and a QMS.

Also, I am still sitting on about 15 Glow Ontario max weight Rocs that we are selling as fundraiser discs for the Dunn Memorial Java Classic. If anyone is interested I will have them with me this weekend at the tournament. They are only $15 and all of the proceeds go back to funding the tournament.

Not at this point. I have had about 10 or 12 preregister online and that is actually about double the number that pre-registered last year. I am anticipating a large number of Friday and day of registrations.

For those of you planning on playing it would be extremely helpful if you pre-registered on Title Disc.

Additionally, I would like to annouce that Dynamic Discs has joined our list of sponsors with a great set CTP and Ring of Fire donations. Thnaks!!

Additionally, I am starting to get a lot of phone calls from players asking if people are going to be required to play the division that their rating allows. I wouild like every to know that I will be holding everyone to their rating protected division. If you are an open player who has accepted cash you will not allowed to play in a lower division and the same goes for the other divisions as well.

This event is a fundraiser and intended to promote fun and our sport, but within limits. Do not plan on trying to sandbag for the sake of winning. :p

Shoes will be highly recommended. I would not want to walk that property bare footed. As far as the cash payout is concerned, it is all for fun and I couldn't afford to purchase enough plastic to do that AM payout, so this was the alternative.

Hopefully next year we will be able to sanction this thing and I will be able to do a normal payout for all divisions.

For those of you that will have questions from this point on, please call me on my cell (214-577-1119). I will be leaving the office tonight and I will have very limited access to email or the web for the next three days. Most if not all my time will be spent doing all the last minute things to get the course ready for this weekend. For those of you that are on the fence about this weekend, just let me say that the event aims to please. Catered lunch for all, ring of fire, CTP's both rounds ($150+ Fossil watches), basket raffle, possibly two, collectors discs, $100 gift certificate to Play it Again up for grabs, cash payout for all divisions, and did I mention a really cool course to play golf on. I promise a good time for everyone.

Lastly, please remember that the land that this event is held on is a private piece of property that my friends and neighbors live on and there will be no alcohol or "<font color="green"> </font> smoking" allowed on the premisis. Anyone caught with either will be disqualified and asked to leave. With that being said, I hope to see you all this weekend.

Remember we are limited to 105, so do not wait to register. Title Disc will be open until Thursday and you can register on Friday during doubles from 3pm - dark. Flex doubles will run on flex start from 3-6pm. The course should be open by 12pm on Friday. Saturday morning registration will be cut off sharply at 9am.

If anyone has any feedback that might help me improve upon the event, please feel free to PM me. As far as I can tell everyone seemed to enjoy themself and fun was had by all. Congrats to our winners and all those that left with something in their pocket or hand. great tournament. My only suggestion would be to get rid of t he ragweed... my allergies were going crazy the whole time :). Lots of fun, though. Somehow we had a nice payout, lots of CTP, RoF, and raffle prizes, fantastic free lunch, lots of hospitality... and the charity still made some money.

This course might be a little bit out of the way, but well worth the trip. Shaine ran a great event. Deidre and I plan on being there every year that this thing happens, sanctioned or not. Thanks, Shaine!
