For those of you who have never played the Seth Burton Memorial Disc Golf Course at Morris Park in Fairmont, WV, you know not what you're missing! Located 10-minutes south of Morgantown, it's only an ninety-minute drive from the 'burgh. This fund-raising event will help their club with the cost of the second 18-hole course currently under construction. Nine holes of the new course should be playable by the time the club championships roll around! :)

This should be a good event. The original 18 hole course is great and I can't wait to see the new nine holes (which will eventually become another 18-hole course). Word has it that the new nine baskets will be installed by month-end!

The Fairmont Club Championship was awesome today! Those of you who didn't go missed a great event...and those of you who have never played the course don't know what your missing! The original 18-hole course is an awesome 18-hole layout throughout a beautiful park full of majestic, old-growth trees. The new nine-hole addition (soon to become 18) is "carved" out of the woods which surround the original course. Designed with par 4's and 5's, I believe par comes in around 34 or 35. There's a lot of brush and cut trees/limbs off the sides of the fairways, but once that stuff gets dragged and cleared from the holes, this course will be an absolute pleasure to play as well as look at. The entire park has great topographical features and this new woodsy nine utilizes the slope and valleys well. A bonus is that after playing the new nine holes, one will be able to continue on with the new back nine (currently under construction) or jump onto hole 10 of the Seth Burton Memorial Course....and vice-versa! Once it's said and done with 36 holes, you'll be able to choose from 4 different 18-hole layouts depending on if and how you "blend" the 18. Cool stuff.....can't wait to see what these guys will have in store for the back nine!

The Fairmont club is hosting a one-day PDGA sanctioned event on September 15, so mark your calendar. :)
