Hi All,
Pre-registration for Shoot The Breeze is now open. Hopefully we get a nice Pittsburgh group to go up there. I have already signed up and am looking to see who else is going and what your hotel plans were. Jerry mentioned that there is a comfort Inn up there, but I know we like to stay in the Place with Timmy's Waterfountain.
Also, Jerry mentioned that the West Virginia Club Championship is June 16th. Just wondering how many people were planning on going. Hopefully we could get a big group to go to help support there club and vice versa.
Has anyone else been hearing that funny commercial about drugs and guns on the radio. It talks about how the guy is in jail and his girl Angie must really miss him but that it is no worry because his boy Eric is watching over her. Then the girl comes on says "I'm afraid when Jimmy gets out he's going to find out that I'm Erics girl now". So the leeson is, don't do drugs or you'll go to jail and lose your tail.

Jedi... I'm planning on going. I'll be staying at my place fri night and maybe split a room with someone on sat night? If anyone wants, they can stay at my place fri night. Space is limited, but I could hold 3 or 4 people. I have a cot and a spare air mattress and a large yard if anyone wants to camp in my yard... I'll even give up my bed if it is nice out and I'll sleep in a tent in my yard. It is about 45min to the park from my house.
Also if anyone is interested, we could plan a weekend to play grandaddy's course and party at my place...

well, its that time. Shoot the Breeze is this weekend. I've heard some tales so I'm amped to get up there and not only play a new course but be involved with the definite antics that will take place.
practiced in some good wind this past weekend, we'll see how it goes.

I dont know Gooch, it was pretty windy @ Deis and yesterday at the DLDGC there were C-r-A-Z-y gusts during the round...
I think the true test will be making it through the weekend without at least being tempted by that volcano! :D

Breeze....thats what we had this weekend. Sunday at Knob is about average winds for Ashtabula. Imagine what you played in this weekend and add some more wind.....but we might get lucky and have a calm weekend.
Its not just the wind, its the fact that the baskets are all on slopes. So you have to putt uphill, downhill, etc. add that with the wind and you get some treacherous putts at time that sail miles away.
But yes, this weekend was great practice. Really helped in my confidence for sure. I owe my skills to that basket you sold me!!

HA. I think you MAY have had an idea before that Mach Lite came into your life Chris...
It would be nice to shoot well my first time @ Ashtabula, but Im not counting on it. I'm just gonna play my game and hope that's good enough for a solid finish. DS and a few others have told me recently that I've been playing better, and to think of it, well minus Saturday at Deis where I was WAY outta my element, I have been playing a lot more solid. First times are a true test of skill level so we'll see. Either way, I know this weekend is gonna rock socks.
and here is your forecast, granted its early but it looks like its gonna be a FRIGGIN HEATWAVE for cryin out loud!!!

Something along the line "if you see someone wearing a Phish t-shirt, they're probably in need of a bath." :D

KB is so awesome... making the volcano "work" was hysterical to come out of my room to on Sunday morning. KB falling asleep sitting up in his chair after Saturday's rounds then "waking up" and walking around CLEARLY in a sleepwalking state was the best though. After a few minutes of pacing like a zombie KB proceeded to fold up his chair and calmly walk to his room... classic.
Way to hold strong in the final day and cash KB!

We reserved a room for both friday and saturday nights. BUT, I heard some rumors of people camping this year instead considering the crappy edge o town motel cost $70 a night.

It's hard to support a tournament director who made such a poor decision back in 01.
I Know
Barbo has history at Shoot the breeze :) He knows
I played in the Bluegrass Open in 99, 2000, and 2001. I will NEVER miss shoot the breeze, because it is SUCH A GOOD TIME!! I KNOW
and yes Banklick is awesome and I can't wait to play Idlewild, but I just can't support a TD that made such a poor decision.
And besides STB is only 90 minutes away.

The Edge-o-Town is FULL! And I didn't get a room. :(
Mike Speaker, rumor is you booked an extra room. Is that true? Do you still have one you're trying to get rid of?
I guess I'll look into whatever else is close in the meantime...
Anyone have any helpful advice, please text or call me: 412-414-8095.

Speaker does not have an extra room anymore. Me, Lori, Tim Wright and Christy took his extra room.
I'm sure that there is floor space in one of the many rooms that we have reserved.

Sorry about not being able to get a room at the edge o town. You know those rooms with a view of the volcano just don't last too long. I'm hoping to leave early enough to get a round in on Friday so give me a call if you are going to be at the course.
Chrissy, I guess the camping thing fell through? - are you still going up Sat. or coming up Friday now

I was NEVER going to camp. :) I am staying at my friends house in Hudson, Ohio on Friday night. Was going to stay Saturday also, but he has a wedding to go to Saturday night, so it looks like I will be at the EOT with Tim on Saturday night.......
Lori gets home from work at 5:00 on Friday, we will probably try to play at Pymatuning on Friday evening.

BAsically drive on HIghway 11 north until it ends. If you ended up in Lake Erie you went to far. Make a right at the might and it's about a half mile on the left. SO EASY. Also, the Crows Nest is at the end of 11 and has good food at a great price, and they have a sweet old bowling game from the 70's.

Thanks Kurt,
Is it easier to just take 79 up to 90 and then over?
Mapquest has me taking 76 and up ohio on 11. What do Pittsburgh area people usually do.
Thanks,

Jun 05 2009, 04:31 PM
Mark,
I've always taken 11 up instead of 79 to 90 but that's from Indiana. BUT, I'm picking up Stella in New Kensington and still play on taking RT. 11. It's a straight shot, pretty boring road but not to bad of a trip.

Jun 05 2009, 06:40 PM
If your leaving from Pittsburgh take 76 to 11. 11 has little to no traffic and the speed limit is 65 on it. MUCH quicker than taking 79 to 90
