Online Registration -
It's easy and it's FREE for the TD!
Solstice Disc Sports will host and accecpt payment for your tournament's Online Registration. The only charge is a $3.00 flat fee to the entrant to cover the expense of paying securely online, not 6% like other registration sites. This flat fee style charges Juniors and Recreational slightly more, keeps Intermediate charges about the same but saves the Advanced and Pro entrants money!
So far we have hosted the 2007 Griffin Park Open, B-Tier, Norman, OK - and we are currently hosting the 2007 Atlanta Open - PDGA Supertour. Feel free to contact these TD's for feedback about our service.
Check it out and more info HERE. (http://www.soldiscsports.com/pd_td_tournament_registration.cfm)

Is the fee per player entered, or per payment submitted?
Example: Johnny signs up himself, his wife, and his son online. Is Johnny charged $3 per person signed up, or just $3 once for the entire transaction?

If it is like Titledisc it is per entry

Actually, Titledisc charges a percentage so it's on the cost of the total transaction, not per entry. :D

I'm assuming its per total transaction...but, just making sure. I guess I should also ask, is it possible to input more than one entry at a time?
I have never used on-line registration before (though I want to this year),but by the way they are marketing the set-up by the TD as FREE, I assume that other on-line registration sites charge the TD for set-up. Is that true?

It is possible to sign up one or more people in one transaction. You add the "item" which is the $3.00 fee to your "shopping cart" the entry information is basically product customization. So there is one $3.00 fee per entrant.

Some sites charge the TD, most sites charge the customer a convenience fee.

On line registeration make the TD's job infinitely easier, adds a level of conveniance to player's that few realise and gets much needed money to the TD early instead of at tournament time. I know that the same benefits apply for pre-registeration, but few players pre-register outside of on-line setup.
For TD's, if the players use on- line registeration it gives the TD time to check player stat's prior to the tournament. I have talked to several players that had to move up in a division because of rating changes. By doing it early the player knows before they ever show up, versus being told the morning they signed up or after the first round and the error is discovered late. It give you a very good indication of tournament size. If you have a large number of pre-registed players, you know the field will be large as well. The TD has some money on hand to prepare for the tournament, to pay off some of the disc costs and player package costs, etc. Also the TD can get a list of players in an electronic format and if you use a computer program, that can be very helpful as well.
For the player, if the TD is attentive, they can learn early on if they do not meet ratings requirements for the divisions they signed up for. The player knows on a large event that they have a place, instead of finding the event full on the morning they arrive to sign up. If the player signs up early enough most TD's can assure they have the size shirt they want if shirts are provided.
As for TD setup fee, I have never been charged one.

Glad to see more online registration options for TD's. Online registration is a great tool for TD's and everyone should take advantage of these services. You will be glad you did. It makes pre-registration practically effortless.
I prefer to use Marshall Street's online registration. I select the option that allows my players to register for FREE. The event is charged $100.00 but MS sends the event $100.00 in MS gift certificates. So it is basically FREE for the event, and FREE for the players. FREE is good!! Marshall Street's customer service is awesome as well.

That's not a bad idea! I will come up with a similar option. I wasn't aware that MS did online registration. That's a good option if you want to make online registration free for players, I don't know how many TD's would be willing to trade $100 cash for $100 in merch in order to have free online sign up.
What do you TD's think about that idea?
Thanks for the kudos Suzette.

We also added two cool new features this year. We track the number of spots left and we list the registered players. Here is an example.

I think it is a good idea, but I am not sure if I would use it or not.

I've been personally working for a few months on a new site to serve this same purpose. The plan is to make it free for certain events on a sponsorship basis (I pick up the tab) and to charge only the necessary amount to process the transaction. I don't plan to profit directly from the entry fees, so I should be able to offer a great service... anyway it's not appropriate to advertise my wares on someone else's thread. I'll create my own once it's all done :). The point is just that I think this can be done really inexpensively and with added value to the events themselves. Nothing wrong with a little friendly competition, though :)
