We are only about a month away before Milwaukee will be hosting a PDGA B-tier event that is featured on the Wisconsin Disc Golf Tour and will also be your preview to the 2007 Am Worlds (http://www.2007amworlds.com) .

We will be running all 4 courses over a 2 day period which should really give you a taste of what you will see in July. I have secured an 'off season' rate with the Four Points Sheraton Brown Deer (http://www.starwoodhotels.com/sheraton/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=949) which is the same primary host hotel we are using for Am Worlds. You MUST CALL in to reserve that price and use the code GMO when doing so. The number is: 414.355.8585.

Online registration is quick and easy and can be found on my website, Take Flight Today (http://www.takeflighttoday.com/product_info.php?cPath=24&products_id=108). On Tuesday, April 24th I received 8 online registrations in one day. I think that's a pretty good indicator that we might reach our max capacity of 288 total players for this event.

The list of pre-registered players (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/tournament_results.php?TournID=6344) will be updated frequently. If you wish to download and mail in a registration form (http://www.widiscsports.com/assets/gmoFlyer.pdf) you can do so as well.

Many thanks go out to the sponsors that have already signed on with the event including, Innova (http://www.innovadiscs.com), Lifetime Disc Sports (http://www.lifetimediscsports.com), Woodchuck Hard Cider (http://www.woodchuck.com), Milwaukee County Parks (http://www.countyparks.com), and The Great Lakes Disc Golf Club (http://www.gldgc.com).

One final note - ALL of the courses need some work before this event can happen so please contact Mark Peterson (262-224-5824) or myself about future workdays (mainly on Tuesday nights and Saturdays).

There are now only 137 Advanced spots still available for this Am Worlds Preview event. Do not be left out.

Also, I am now considering adding an Advanced Grandmasters Division due to a handful of requests. If you are interested in competing in this division please let me know.

Just one month away!

Do you know whether junior girls will be pooled with Advanced Women or Junior Boys? Do you know who Advanced Master Women will be pooled with?

We're trying to figure out transportation. If we cannot get any answers, we'll do other things that week.

Great questions Bruce.

I can tell you what I'm currently PLANNING. As with every event of this (potential) size this is very much still subject to change depending on actual turnout in each pool.

Here is my current plan:

Pool A - All professional divisions
Pool B - Intermediates, Juniors, Recs
Pool C - Advanced Men
Pool D - Other other advanced divisons

HOWEVER ... if we do not have at least 50 (or so) per pool these might be condensed into only 3 pools.

I hope you guys can make it.

Ter

how much time before the tourney will the courses be put in? there should be some kind of "home course advantage"
nothing is in right now (all four courses have been pulled since winter) and the tourney is less than three weeks away.

No idea.

It really just comes down to how many more volunteers can we get to help us out. There is another work day scheduled today (as you already know) and then we will keep having work days until all of the work is completed.

I don't really think anyone is entitled to some home course advantage. I think the people that make the best drives followed by the best putts in conjunction with the fewest mistakes should be the people that win their respective divisions. Otherwise you'd almost have to claim that Barry, Kenny, and Dave sure do have an abundances of home courses.

I'm sorry. I misread the title of this thread and thought it was the Am Worlds thread. Same question, wrong tournament.

Hi Terry:

I don't know if I can make this yet, but I see on the flyer that check-in is at Dretzka on Friday, and I know I can't make that. Is it enough to just pre-reg?

thanks,
Damon

Terry,
Will the long pins be played at Brown Deer, and will the long tees be played at Dretzka?? Thanks!

Seeing that we may be accommodating upwards of 200 people I can't say yet as to where each pin will be for each division. Those are conversations and decisions that have to be discussed with Chuck Kennedy and David Gentry from the PDGA.

I can say that the courses will NOT be in their easiest configurations but they will also not be in their toughest configurations. That's the best that I can say right now.

I am ecstatic to say that we are already at 60 people pre-registered (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/tournament_results.php?TournID=6344) in a total of 13 divisions that are currently being offered. Remember, I'll offer just about any division (for this event) that has at least 3 people in it.

For a single day event last year we had 165 people (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/tournament_results.php?TournID=6344) play! I hope to add roughly $300 to $500 to the pro purse again this year.

We are working on some Saturday night action at the hotel and things are really coming together. Please get signed up asap! Snail mail or online is cool with me. I have been averaging 2 to 4 per day for the past few weeks.

A large rush of people last night got us up to 116 pre-registered (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/tournament_results.php?TournID=6344) and I haven't even gotten the mail yet today. Moving right along!

I'm hoping to send out a confirmation e-mail to all participants in the next few days. That should give details such as pool assignments, times, and directions.

Get signed up soon! Late fee starts on Friday morning.

Terry-

I just called Four Points Sheraton at 414.355.8585 and tried to use the code GMO and they said they did not have a special rate or anything. Do I have the wrong code or did something fall through?

Thanks!

For anyone interested, the cost of a double room is 110 + tax..

Update: I called back this AM and the person I spoke knew what she was doing and the rate for GMO is 95 + tax.

See you this weekend.

Thanks for the update Dana. I spoke with the head woman today and she told me they have it listed as GMO Company in the books and that's part of the confusion. This is a great hotel that has treated us VERY well.

They have a bar right in the hotel so if you wish tip back a few it only makes sense to purchase some stuff at the flymart, have a few beers, and then just head up to your room at this great venue. You will NOT be disappointed with this hotel.

Other updates - entries are rolling in left and right and everyone is asking if they can still get in or if I can save a spot for them. Get your check in the mail today or get online (http://www.takeflighttoday.com/product_info.php?cPath=24&products_id=108) and get registered! Money talks and "Well, I'm calling 'cuz I'm not sure if I can make it but maybe I can but maybe I'm not sure and if my cat thinks it's going to rain and if I don't spend too much at the bar tonight and bla bla bla" walks.

Am Worlds Preview it certainly is! It's approximately 11:30 on Thursday night and we are sitting with 165 registered competitors. (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/tournament_results.php?TournID=6344) That means that I have registered 65 people since Monday! I sincerely dislike the procrastination but it is still good to see the numbers finally coming through.

Wow - 165 now so who knows where we might be in 24 or 36 hours from now. I have had at least a dozen people ask about registering at the park or on Saturday. They are subject to the late fee but they don't care - they want part of this insane 4 course action.

Four courses and approaching 200 people. I think I'm finally catching up to Shark in terms of work hours ;) What's his ticker at ... nearly 1000 hours in the past year?

Bring your portable Chainstar or Mach V to the course if you come tomorrow! Thanks.

I almost forgot to mention that two more hard core supporters came through big time tonight - Mike Schwieger and B-Roc went out and put down rubber mats that were graciously loaned to us from Randy Schukar. My supporters are what keep me going!
