mitchjustice
Jul 23 2007, 05:55 PM
My original plan was to have everyone play the same tees...that way the ratings will work even if the division is small....and everyone can equally compare scores...we will have spotters on 4 of the holes to help move things along...so at this point(unless someone can convince me otherwise) everyone will play the course as it was designed to be played

His rating is under 955, so I believe he can accept cash and still play Am, as long as it's not an NT --- or something like that. Is that right?

nope once you accept cash it does not matter what your rating is. you are now a PRO
Turning Pro
A player relinquishes amateur status by registering in a professional division with the PDGA, or by competing in a professional
division at a PDGA Tour event and accepting prize money (cash) based on place of finish. A player also relinquishes amateur

Orlando Pereida accepted cash at Live Oak-http://www.pdga.com/tournament/tournament_results.php?TournID=6589 I didnt think he could play ADV once he accepted cash. There is a guy at worlds right now that won the Masters division in shreveport and he is playing AM worlds this weekend, after accepting $150.

Rooster's Correct....

If a Pro is Rated 955 or lower (even if he accepts cash) he can play in the Advanced Division as "Pro Playing Am Rules". I made sure I could play this event under those rules and I can. I don't make the rules I just abide by em ;).

There's a thread about it under Ratings and skill-based competition.

I am playing Pro but this is an Am Tourney and I am eligible to play in Advanced. My rating won't be 955 or less for long and this is an Am only tourney. If it were Pro/Am I would be signed up in Pro. Don't worry, your not playing against me. :D:D

Presently, tie-dyed towels are only a misdemeanor in Williamson County.

Mitch, how are the young kids at camp? Pretty fun? I'm expecting your graduates to wipe the floor with all those mistaughts from last year, and be better behaved too. ;)

thanks Efrain,I cant believe that I pulled it off after going from +2 to +6 in the last 5 holes;my card gained 3 strokes on me from holes 16 and 17 alone.I have a rules question- If you lose your disc and then go and retee after 3 min.-and then find your original lie after you retee-do you have the option of playing from your original lie throwing 2 or do you have to take the retee shot throwing 3? I took my retee shot but I talked to Alex Downs yesterday and he said that I should have been able to play from my original lie since it was found while I was still on the hole

I believe that once you declare your disc lost, you can no longer play it from that lie. For example if you looked and then said to the group, I'm taking a lost disc and going back to retee, then as you walk back to the tee someone finds your disc, it can't be played. Once declared lost, the disc is lost.
