If you have looked at the information on the website and want to make sure you read it right, I will state it here again.
There will be NO Amatuer merchandise payout at the end....only trophies.
Amateurs, dont let this discourage you from coming. This year, the Wild Hair is all about VALUE for your buck. The first 75 Amatuers will recieve a players package that is almost 200% of their entry fee. Plus the chance at a trophy, CTP prizes, Ring of Fire, and the same great time that every player at every Wild Hair has had the past 3 years.
Think about it this way. In a normal tournament, the top 50% of Am's get something above a small players pack, and maybe 15% of those dont even get their money back. At the Wild Hair, EVERY AM (the first 75 anyway) gets double their money back before they even throw a disc. Its the same tournament...just payed out a little differently.
Pro payout is in the usual manner. At least 100% payout to the Pros, hopefully with some added cash.
I dont want to over-state this, but I want everyone to know up front what they are paying for. If anyone has any questions, please let me know.

Well Ams, your players pack just grew a bit. T-shirt, tourney stamp disc, another disc of your choice, mini, sticker, Chic-fil-A sancwich coupon, and a towel. I'm constantly on the look out for ways to boost the players pack, so expect more before its all said and done. Also, Pro's may take a towel as well...I should have plenty.
Also Women, I am working on a special addition to the players pack for you guys....more on that soon.
I inadvertantly left the Juniors off the flyer, but there will be a Juniors division. Their players package, meals, and trophies are the same as the other Am divisions.
Remember, EVERY player gets lunch provided both days. Other guests, spectators may purchase a lunch for $5.
More updates later.....

I have confirmed that all players will get towels; and not just one, but 2 towels. They will all have "Wild Hair 2007" embroidred on the bottom of them.
I also updated the tournament website with all the hotel information. I plan on having a link to a registration form where you can sign up soon. I know of several players from Amarillo that are coming this year. If everyone from last year shows up plus these new people, we are already full!! I am not sure how Amateurs will respond to the 'trophy only' style divisions, but at the rate its going so far...there wont be a need for saturday registration. :D
If you plan on attending, look for a registration form on the website soon...sign up early (especially if you are an AM...dont miss out on the players pack).
More later......

Registration form is on the website. All the information is on it. I started working on the logo last night, and I think its going to be pretty cool. Simple, but effective. It could be finished this weekend, so hopefully I can get it posted on the boards next week. A few more sponsers signed up last week. The whole thing is shaping up nicely.

Heres the latest from the Wild Hair.....
Everyone will still recieve 2 towels, but only 1 will have 'Wild Hair 2007' embroidered on it.
Kathy Hardyman with Disc Diva has donated a few Women only CTP prizes. Matt Smart with DisCrazy has jumped on board with some sponsorship. Cool Clear Water out of Cisco TX is sending us some bottled water with the tournament logo stamped on the label. (same as those found at Crush on the Concho)
And, I just got off the phone with Derick at our local Coors distributor and he is providing a LOT of vitamin water and other possible energy drinks. Plus, I plan on having 3 water coolers around the course...so, your weekend hydration needs should be taken care of :D Wish I could provide some alcoholic beverages, but no alcohol is allowed at city parks in Abilene...sorry :(
The logo is done. I will be putting in the order for all the discs either today or first thing next week. The tournament stamped disc will be the newly re-released Ontario Roc's...all 75. The other order will be an assortment of stock discs...mostly Champ and Star plastic. T-shirt order will happen next week.
I have sent in the information to get on-line registration set up through Title Disc. I will post as soon as I get the confirmation from them.
Remember, 90 players is the max!!! And, you will not be fully registered until I have an entry form AND the entry fee. I will not hold spots just becuse you turn in the entry form. I know of about 15 peeps that are coming this year that did not last year. If I get the numbers from last year I will be turning people away :o So, dont wait!!! You can get an entry form on line and mail it, you can pay me in person, or you will soon be able to enter on-line. NO excuses!! Get signed up now!!
btw.....its ONLY 6 weeks away

lol- how funny. Hey guys there is no payout-just a big players pack, what makes you think that someone is going to register much less pre-register for this. All they would be doing is buying ratings for the trip.

johnrock

If you don't care for the format, don't participate. Don't be so disrespectful of someone trying to do something positive for the sport. Why are you so against change?
Jroc
May 14 2007, 11:55 AM
Dont knock it until you try it. The value that Am's get for their entry fee is worth the trip. Name me ANY tournament that you get 250%+ return on your investment just for walking up to the sign up table? Not just the top 2 or 3 in each division.....EVERY AM. (Well, the first 75 Am's, but I will be pleasently surprised if there are more Am's than that). Even the Pros will get the cost of their players pack and meals covered...so they play for all of their net entry fee. There may even be some cash to add when its all said and done.
Am's pay in $27, they get $60+ worth of stuff...and thats before they even throw a disc. If you want incentive based rewards, play Pro.
1 CTP each day for your group, Ring of Fire at the end, 2 lunches included, trophies for the top 3. Theres nothing wrong with the payout format, its just different.
I have nothing against the normal payout structure. I was intrigued by the 'True AM' style payouts and wanted to try it out. When I decided to use this payout structure, I went into it knowing that there could be a LOT of resistance to it. I'm not going to argue with everyone that has a problem with it. All the facts about the event are there. Come play or don't.
Jroc
May 14 2007, 12:01 PM
The trophies will be wood plaques with the tournament logo, place, division information laser cut into it. 3rd place size is about 4" x 6", 2nd place is about 6" x 8", 1st place is about 8" x 10".

Only 3 weeks left. Entries are starting to come in faster now. Remember Am's, only the first 75 get the full players pack. Enter on-line at Titledisc (http://www.titledisc.com) or go to the tournament website and print a form to mail in (link is in my signature). Please register early....it is MUCH easier on the staff and helps keep us on schedule from the beginning.
Dont be left out!!

Any new info on this one? With it being only a week away caould we see a players list? Thanks

Jun 15 2007, 05:14 PM
I can put up a current players list. As of now, I have 14 players that have sent me money AND entry form. You will not be officially signed up until I have both. I have several that have taken forms, but no money. So as far as the players packages, theres still plenty of room. I expect several to sign up at the mini tommorrow and a large group to sign up Friday and Saturday morning.
I have been in Jury duty the last 2 weeks, so I dont have many updates. I do know that both CTP's for women will be $25 gift cards to Olive Garden. The "2nd disc of your choice" for Am's will be mostly Innova (Star and Champ plastic mostly), but there will be a few Discraft to choose from as well (Predator, Flick, Buzz, and Banger GT) Also, I might be getting a pretty good sponsership this weekend. If so, look for a basket that I will raffle away (if I can get it shopped here in time).
Next week will be busy. More updates will come as I get them.

Not sure. I had 4 last year, but have had verbal commitments from 3. And, I expect another 1-2 that werent there last year. I cant see it getting higher than 10....probably more like 5-8. Same with Masters.
And remember, all Pro's will get a shirt, 2 towels, a free sandwich coupon for Chic-fil-A (Abilene only), lunch both days and play for 100% of their entry (minus $2 PDGA fee).

Players list is up. Remember, you are not entered until I get entry form AND fee. If you plan on playing a Pro division...you might think about signing up soon. I know theres only 20 right now, but I expect at least 30 to sign up on Friday afternoon...and another 30-40 sign up Saturday morning (those that I know about). I would be thrilled to have the Funkytowners come in!! I will never boast the best course in this area, but I think we have as much fun as the next town.
Sign-up through Titledisc.com or click the link in my signature and print off a form to mail. If you can't get the form in the mail by Tuesday, DONT SEND IT!! I cant guarentee I will get it in time.
You can also sign up Friday afternoon at the course. I will be there all day, and I will take entries starting in the afternoon. You can also pick up your players packs/meal tickets then as well. And of course, you can sign up Sat. morning, though I would VERY MUCH like anyone to sign up before then.
And, dont forget about Pick-Your-Partner doubles Friday evening. Flex start begins at 4pm. The last card will go out at 6:30. Pro and Am divisions. Cash payout.
One more thing....we have had some inquiries about camping. Unfortunatly, there is no camping at the park or really anywhere close. I have enough room in my backyard for a few tents if anyone is interested....let me know. Check out the host hotel information on the Wild Hair site (link in my sig). Its a good deal and less than 5 minutes from the course.
Less than a week now!!

$1 - 1 ticket
$5 - 6 tickets
$10 - 15 tickets
$20 - 35 tickets
Proceeds will go for course improvment or towards next years Wild Hair.
I'm also working with Disc Nation to get some on-line gift certificates to the Disc Nation on-line store.

Also, don't remember if I mentioned it, but I have a little something extra for the women. With the women that are already signed up, I only have 4 left... so any women out there that know they are coming, sign up soon!!
I got the Disc Nation on-line gift certificates. Some will be awarded as CTP's, others will be in the Ring of Fire.

Sunday

Of course, we only had a "slight" chance of rain last night and I probably got 1/2 inch at my house.....so, be prepared!! Also, bring plenty of repelant. Mosquitos are in large force this year.

Also, for those that come from more humid areas...the humidity normally doesnt get above 50% (unless it rains of course). Regardless, make sure you stay hydrated. Most people probably know, but its worth saying anyway. There will be bottled water and vitamin water at the pavillion. I will also have a couple of water coolers at the pavillion (which is on your way to Hole 1 on either course) as well as a water cooler by Hole 6 and Hole 12. Take advantage and keep plenty of fluids down your gullett!

Well, the oh-so-nice weather reported yesterday may not be so. Temps for the weekend are not supposed to get above 90, but the rain chances have increased. But even if it doesnt rain, bring plenty of socks and an extra pair of shoes if you have them. There are a few places on the course that walking through water is unavoidable. If needed, I'll try to have some planks to walk on to minimize that. We got more rain a few nights ago and with a chance for more every night, the course is just not going to dry up in some places. I may have to alter some of the planned tee boxes, but we'll see on Friday.

One day down...one more to go.
What a day! 82 players came and enjoyed a really nice, West Texas day. It got a little hot in the afternoon, but there was only a little bit of wind and the sun found a few clouds here and there. From what I could tell...everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.
Matt Smart with Discrazy brought a lot of COOL stuff to raffle off. Plus, some CTP prizes. Lots of good scores out there...maybe too good. Take the leader in Advanced Masters, the first 5 in Advanced, and the first 2 in Int...and, you could have yourself a really competative Open division (did some one say ****bagging? :o) Maybe some of those will now have confidence to step up in future tournaments. But, as my Aussie friend says...'No worries" :DBut, Open has a good race going in the top 4 spots. All the players get to play the same 2 courses again tommorrow.....anything can happen.
Now to finish up some things and get some much needed rest. Look for the final results tommorrow night.
go miles!!!!
good luck tomorrow!

First TD job is in the books.
Thanks to EVERYONE that made the trip to play a tournament in our little corner of the world. We had most of the major metropolitan areas of Texas represented. Miles pulls it out over the local favorite Santos. Nick played really solid the whole weekend too. He says its his last Am tournament. We will see........
Everyone seemed to have a great time, as the only real complaint I heard was with the scoring. That Par 55 REALLY threw some people when it came time to add them up. Other than that, we got lots of compliments and everyone had smiles on their faces.
It was great meeting lots of new folks from lots of different places. Until next year, thanks again
