The 7th Annual Oklahoma Open presented by Twisted Flyer will be held in beautiful Tulsa on October 27th and 28th. Your Tournament Directors are Joe Rotan and Kelly "KelDog" Watson with the help of the always on point TDSA Top Notch staffers.

As with all TDSA / Twisted events this one will be rich with added cash and merchandise. Look for a strong showing from our numerous sponsors and a players pack that is truely A Tier status.

I encourage everyone to pre register and be part of the TDSA Pre Reg Raffle. If you were at Green Country Doubles to see or win that raffle, you will know that it will be worth your time.

Hope to see you there! :D

Thx for the offer, Kev...but I think I am going to help Joe and Kelly out, maybe do some spotting at Black, fill some water jugs, maybe help double check scorecards or something. Whatever I can do I'll do.

My game is not ready for an A tier.

One thing I do need to do is rally up a team of guys/girls to play Blackhawk with a trash bag. I think if we get about a dozen people out there and everyone fills their trash bag the course should be looking good. Also, there is some random debris on some of the fairways that need to thrown to the side. I'll head out there this weekend and make a list.

I must say Sir Forest only time will tell... The OO has such an AWESOME History, I can't wait to see who will join the list of CHAMPIONS! :cool:Rest assured when they do... They will be well compensated for it!!!

This event has OFFICIALLY reached TWISTED+ status on the disc golf event scale!

The courses are being prepped by the TD's and their "mini" volunteers... Prizes, PLAYERS PACKS, Goodies and Food has all been ordered. :D

The PLAYERS PACKS are valued at...
A Tier Am's = $48.00
B Tier Am's = $34.00
PRO's = (yes... I said PRO's) = $12.00
YES... that's REAL VALUE... no certificates, trips or vouchers... REAL VALUE! :D

As always the contents are a secret for now...

Please BELIEVE when The BEST club in disc golf teams up with the one of the most GIVING individual's and companies in the SPORT... It's going to be huge.

Your PAY OUT will be HUGE and AWESOME as well...

We are currently at approx. $4600.00 in added cash (Thanks DJ :D)and as an AM Player you can expect only the NEWEST & the COOLEST model's, brand's and product's.

Please make it a point to be in the house and online for even more exciting news as it develops!!! :D

Most importantly... "Keep it TWISTED"

:D

Joe, will Am payouts be pick your own or bag it and tag it?

Twisted1
Sep 14 2007, 09:11 AM
Jake most likely bagged. With an event of this size it would take the AM's 4 or 5 hours to pick it... Ever been to Z Boaz and left at 9:30 PM due to the payout line? NOT fun.
Please believe whats in the bag is going to be worth it...
And just as a side note... Your entry is $65.00 (not including ACE pot, etc) Your players pack is worth $48.00, It is worth the $17.00 gamble you won't get juked in your bag. KelDog and I thought long and hard when we did our ordering and feel very CONFIDENT we hooked it up PHAT! :D

All that being said... Will Charleston's / Team Reiger hook us up with some APP Cards or GC's as years past? I'm getting hooked on that spinach dip! :D

I have always thought a strip of OB on any hole is a bad idea. My personal opinion is that, at least for the upper divisions, they should be a boundary line. That is, at McClure, hole 6 should be an island, and all the other holes (1,2,3,5,7,10,11,13, & 14) you should have to be on the basket side of the path to be in. Drop zone if missed.

HOWDY!!!

m_conners
Sep 20 2007, 05:22 PM
That would make the course play just a little bit harder :o

jose
Sep 20 2007, 05:34 PM
Hole 6 should definately be an island.

Hole 14 should either not play the walking path as OB or it should play as an island. I hate it when a person throws a shot 14 feet short of the basket and is OB (on the walking path) and another person throws it 25 feet short and they are IB. If you make it an island of sorts then everyone will be sure to go long and then it brings in skill when you are putting back towards OB.

Hole 2 - in or over the creek and path should be OB.

Hole 3,4,5,7,8,9 - no walking path OB

Hole 10 - over the walking path should be OB

Hole 11 in or over the walking path or creek should be OB

Hole 12,13 no walking path OB.

Hole 15,16,17,18 - no walking path OB

Man - I think I have posted more in the last couple of days than I have all year.

However your TD's decide to do IT - IT will be sweet so get registered and get ready for a sweet event.

I personally fear the island setup on 6 at McClure. That is why I voted ''Yes'' for all paths OB.

Take the fear head on.

I have taken horrid scores there. I need motivation to fix that.

OB!!!

Edit- *It also makes it more difficult for people coming in from out of town....gotta love that home field advantage!*

Sep 20 2007, 06:15 PM
Jose, I like your way better, but I was thinking of ease of explanation from a TD's perspective. It's easier to explain it my way. "If the path is between you and the basket, you lose." :D

Martin_Norris
Sep 20 2007, 06:21 PM
I would like to rule rollers and drives over 280 feet long as a penalty :Dbut then i would have to give up side arm shots :( and Kevin would want to rule out all overhand Tommy-hawk throws.
This is the Oklahoma Open and not the Oklahoma UDGC while the clown mouth shot has a place in a skills event is it really needed for a 4 round 4 course A tier event? If you make the courses unplayable or so unfriendly that it becomes a chore just to play you will soon be left only with a few die hard types and some pro players that come for the payday.
I understand that this is a sport and as an A Tier event it should be first class but even in ball golf there is only one event a year where the greens are cut so close as to be unplayable and the rough allowed to grow to disc golf high.
Let the USDGC experiment with massive amounts of created obstacles and lets play the four courses and the are and not complicate things to the point that rounds take 5 hours like in ball golf, PLEASE. :p

WHAT ABOUT THE "TWO METER" RULE???

It's Twisted,so you know two meters is a Bad shot!!!
Here's one,if you don't pass the sidewalk on #1 & #7
DROP ZONE /msgboard/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
on #8 & #15 if you don't cross the creek drop zone ,and if you go over the creek on #2 and #11 drop zone

Dover - you have a good point on being easy to explain. I think we could handle that with wriiten explanations that are in with the scorecards each round and passed out during sign-ups. I am a big believer in telling people to read the instructions and not going over each hole rule during a player's meeting - that is when people usually zone out on you and do not listen anyway.

Sep 20 2007, 08:43 PM
OB in a tree sucks, I have personally stuck in many trees' then I get penalized after I already hit a tree!!! I have played many holes and you have no other option but to throw above the trees and hope that you are safe.

Sep 20 2007, 10:09 PM
It sucks, it happened to me tonight at McClure, on hole 12 I thought I had parked it for a birdie, but I get up there and I am in the very middle of the pine tree there. Almost hit it from under the tree though...

I like it because it makes you add another element into play.

It makes the fun of Risk Reward all that more rewarding...:D

And more risky.... :(

IF THE TEE PAD IS THE DROP ZONE ON 11 FOR GOING OVER THE CREEK IT SHOULD BE THE SAME FOR GOING OVER THE SIDE WALK ALSO....PLAY IT LIKE AN ISLAND... WHICH COULD BE SAID FOR THE SAME AS HOLES 1 AND 2...THE THROW IN 6 AS AN ISLAND HOLE AND THAT MAKES McCLURE A DONKEY COURSE!

I do not like the 2 meter rule because two shots that are very similar can hit the same tree and one with fall and one will stick - it's pure luck.

I'm seeing more talk about you throwing OB than actually winning the dang'd Ol OO and sinking your fists in a bucket of $4600.00 plus in added cash!!!

As for OB's they will be finalized after ROCK HILL (USDGC)I can't imagine us tweaking them to the point they have not been played that way before... The TD's will have the final say and you will be well informed.

As for the 2 meter rule... GOOD SHOT'S DON'T LAND IN TREE'S.

It IS luck to go thru a tree and not stick... It's also luck to pass on the inside of turn 4 at speeds of over 200 miles an hour... If it does not work out in either situation there are consequences. We do not have sand traps, angled greens or different cuts of grass. We do have a FEW water shots... other than that there is nothing to fear out there. The 2 meter rule is golf's little way of keeping you kids that throw 650 feet over trees 80 feet tall in check. Risk and Reward.

Pre Reg is going very good... Once I get the password from the PDGA we can get TREAT to posting away. I'm working on USDGC until 2nd week of October so I will be hard to reach.

Cut jobs??? They would increase the amount of jobs to account for the increased upkeep.

Cut wages???Why would there be a cut in wages? With all the increased revenue from tax dollars this should be a non-issue.

Membership question: I am not a current PDGA member this year because, as most of you have noticed, I haven't got to play much golf at all this year. But, I'm wanting to play the OO, renew my membership, and start playing some freakin' golf again! However, I don't see a point in spending $50 now and then another $50 (or $75 if I decide to move up) in January. Anyone know if there is any type of discount for renewing this late in the year? I know when I joined a couple years ago, I joined in September, so I got membership for the remainder of that year plus the entire next year. I sent an email to the PDGA office, but I haven't received a response yet.

Wow! You have been busy. :) Congratulations on your wedding! I have updated
our database to reflect your name change.

We would love to have you back as a member, Melissa. We do offer an
extension for new members and those not current in the past 5 years.
Unfortunately you do not fall into these categories. However, you can renew
as early as December 1st and be extended through 2008.

Hope this helps.

Hello,

I have a few questions about membership. I joined the PDGA last year in
2006, but I did not renew my membership in 2007. I was really busy this
past year with my wedding, honeymoon, moving and many other important
events, which didn't leave much time for disc golf. I am now wanting to
renew my membership, but I know it's late in the year and I don't want to
have to pay now and then again in a just a few months for 2008. I'm
wondering if I should just wait until next year to renew or if there's some
sort of discount for renewing so late in the year. Also, I need to know
what I need to do to change my last name.

I can most easily be reached via email. My work email is
[email protected] My personal email is [email protected] I
can also be reached via cell phone at (918) 513-1888.

Thank you,

It will NOT be as cracker jack as in the last 2 years.

From Joe, Keldog and My discussion at USDGC, We will be playing McClure like we do 356 days a year except for that over the creeks on 1,2,11 are OB and paths out of bounds

Dovillio, Mohawks are standard

AND the two meter rule is on,so hug a tree, don't climb it ;)!Also lunch from Jay Slack!!!Two weeks and counting.

ALL GOOD.....EXCEPT THE TWO METER RULE....I DON'T LEAVE IT IN THE TREES VERY OFTEN....BUT THERE WILL BE DISPLEASURE ON HOLE 12 AT McCLURE FROM A LOT OF PLAYERS.

Exactly!!! The 2 meter rule is disc golf's little way of keeping us all humble. We all know my rant on this...
All of the players pack stuff is in house, trophies are being polished, courses are being groomed and the payout is piled high...

SPEAKING OF PAYOUT...
A Big THANK YOU goes out to Jim and Deb Taylor at the LODGE in Pawhuska for ADDING $200.00 TO THE POT!!! Please make it a point to make it out to the LODGE and be looking for some MAJOR action to go down there next year.

This event is going to be most festive.

Come get some...

Yeah, maybe some police tape to mark the crime scene :D
lets just change the event to the OKLAHOMA DGC and make everything OB outside of a 20' circle around each basket, i would say 10 meter but several holes have less than 20 feet between them and a sidewalk or water hazard. :(
Oh well who cares the course will be the same for everyone and only the time it takes to play will be effected /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I've got to check out all of the courses recently and Dovillio's grass is cut and looking good.....just some minor fallen branches that Mother Nature has been pruning our trees.

Blackhawks fairways are immaculate right now. It looks as if many of the fairways were installed with sod. All that water that was in there a few months ago must have fertilized the whole place. The ponds had some trash around them, **** fishermen over there just leave their garbage out and the **** coons are knocking over the trashcans.

And McClure is what it always is. A very nice walk around a very nice park.

... and just to add a note of caution there , Mutt ... IF you came across one , it's full of some cool info ; BUT , do not use any previous Course Guide as your info. source during this year's tournament ... that applies to both the "AmWorlds" (red coil binders) and "2006 Oklahoma Open" (grey coil binders) editions ... they were designed and edited for the particular tournaments they served ... O.B. , Mando's , etc. would not read correctly from either of those "books" ... similarly , don't just go by Tee-Sign info. either ...

I would also like to add Chris Hicks to that list of fine TDSA volunteers. :)

I wouldn't mind seeing the list of not so fine TDSA members that chose to play the 10am mini at McClure. Hopefully there were none.

It was a very nice day for volunteering.

Big props for Zooc and Wagle for bringin out the power tools. Zooc is a wood cutting fool. Even after he ran out of gas for the chainsaw he got down on his hands and knees and knawed thru the remaining logs. I officially proclaim him "King Beaver of Mohawk".

Wagel deserves big props for his wood carving skills on # 18 also. :)

Blackhawk looks great. I made sure to pile the tree limbs in places I don't land.

We cleared off the fairways and greens on Red 1-9 and the sheriff's chain gang picked up most of the piles of wood. I think there may still be some work required on the back nine on Red. Probably need to take another look later this week in case any new storms knock down what is still left hanging in the trees. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Any other little Feefee's over there in Hogtown want a piece of me????

Come and get it and prepare to be doggie-styled. :mad:/msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Why aren't you out taking care of the back nine on Red?

I haven't forgot about our battle. I'm just giving you time to practice before I wee-wee on your hopes of victory over the greatest K9 to ever play the game. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Yeah and those people in orange were working. Maybe we should equip all our parks department people with an orange vest and then maybe something would get done. :D

You'd just better show...........don't make me send these bounty hunting dog catchers after you, they can double as snake catchers also in case you once again have your cronies throw dead snakes at your opponents as they putt...........

when I'm done with you I think I'll let em' haul you to the dog pound anyway, don't need no mangy beaten down whimpering dogs on the course......

I just hope that I don't get in trouble beating on animals

I'll figure out what course to whoop you on /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

You figure out what the wager is

Yeah, i am wearing my TU shirt with a black armband today.
Oh well if we win out maybe there is still a chance for the Golden Hurricane to whip up a storm in the bowl season.

I support all Oklahoma State and privet schools, I went to Stillwater and am sending one through Norman. The youngest is undecided and unmotivated :( the only time that is a problem is when they play each other  and then it is root for the one with the best shot and the big bowl! :D
I do no sit on the fence i live there! /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

That's funny.

I figured since you got run out of Stillwater you might become a Sooner fan. Obviously the football team at TCC has those guys beat though. :p

Are the parks being used for the OO, going to be mowed again this week?? They all look pretty good right now, but I was curious if there are plans to have the city mow them again before the weekend. Need to know if I should dust-off the roller...

They all look pretty good right now, but I was curious if there are plans to have the city mow them again before the weekend. Need to know if I should dust-off the roller...
