Remember that the Southern National Season ends on May 31st 2007. So if you intend to play in the Pro Championships in September 2007, you MUST play in at least one SN tournament before that time.

You may as well play in the biggest Tournament of the season here in Memphis!!

We are close to $2000 added Pro Cash so far with more expected. $1000 to first Place Pro Open min. $250 to First Place Pro Open Woman min.

The first 150 Ams including Advanced get TWO discs when signing up. Both with have the Tournament logo on them. One will be an Innova DX White Roc the other will be one of the new Gateway discs. Not sure which yet. Can't beat that with a stick since AM is only $30 and Advanced is only $40.

Sign up Early!!!!!

Brian Mace will be running his famous MACEMAN DOUBLES at Shelby Forest on Friday May 4th at Shelby Forest. Be there by about 5pm, tee off will be about 5:30. These events are always a blast.

After the doubles you can still run over to Bud Hill to get pre-registered.

$2500 added cash so far.

From TD Brian Friedman,

Couple Miscellaneous Notes:

Entry Fee for the totally not superfluous Advanced Grandmasters division will be $40- same as the other Advanced Divisions. There is only a 1st place plaque for this division.

Players Pack (Flat top Dogwood Roc + Gateway Wizard or Warlock + PDGA Rulebook) will be valued at $20 for purposes of determining payouts. Am payouts will consequently be a little flatter than past years when the players pack was only a Roc. We will be double checking the smaller divisions payouts for sweetness. Griff and Alan take special pride in ensuring all payouts are amazing even if it gives Brad 'Tightly Clutching the Purse Strings' Webb a heart attack.

We will be deducting $2 for SN Fees, $1 for Bud Hill, plus the actual cost of plaques from all divisions, except for the Women. The MDGC will be covering the plaques for all Women's divisions.

Payout will be 33% for Pros, 40% for Advanced, and 50% of players for Amateurs.

19 Holes will be played at Orgill (Pros and Advanced). All other courses are 18 holes (including Bud Hill).

Total Added Cash is sitting at slightly over $2500. The only expenses coming out of this are the Porta Johns and the cost of the Surges. All remaining cash (over $2000) will be added equally to all Pro divisions based on number of players in each division.

There will be a small number of Tournament discs available for sale on Saturday. There will be about 20 Rocs at $10 each and about 10 Surges at $20 each. If you want one I suggest you show up Friday or early Saturday to buy one. After they are gone they are gone. You can still purchase a hole sponsorship and ensure yourself a Surge for $25 before Friday morning via Paypal to Midsouthdiscgolf AT aol DOT com.

Online registration will be closing I believe Thursday night at Midnight. This is the only way we will accept credit cards. Please register with cash if you are registering Friday at Bud Hill or Saturday Morning at Shelby Forest.

Flip Up doubles will be at Bud Hill in the late afternoon (usually between 4 and 5 pm). Maceman doubles will be at Shelby Forest at 5:00 pm.

Don't forget there is a special Seeded Rolling ace pot available only to MDGC members. It is seeded with $100 and will be allowed to accumulate during all MDGC tournaments (Dogwood, Copper Hills, Naquin, Ice Bowl) up to a maximum of $500. The current value of the ace pot will be split among all tournament aces for each event and the acepot reseeded with $100 for the next event if necessary.

MDGC Memberships can be purchased online (www.MemphisDiscGolf.com) or at the event from any officer for $20. All members receive a solid steel surfboard style bottle opener bag tag. We are currently at about 90 members with a 2007 goal of 200. Membership also grants you access to Tuesday league at Orgill, Thursday league at Shelby Farms, and the MDGC rolling tournament ace pot.

All early arrivals are invited to play the Shelby Farms handicap league Thursday night at 5:30. This league has been averaging 20+ players each week so come out and try to grab some $$. Cost is $5. You must be a MDGC member to participate.

First Place Pro Open is guaranteed $1000. First Place Pro Women is guaranteed $250. Advanced and Am First Place will be receiving baskets.

Rumor has it Griff will be conducting Rings of Fire on Sunday afternoon at Bud Hill. One of the prizes will be an Oasis Patio Fan as one of the Prizes. [www.homedepot.com] This is a $320 value so you won't want to miss this feature.

Rumor also has it the TD is still severely jetlagged from trying to adjust his schedule 13 hours. Caution is advised! All questions likely to cause crankiness are best directed at Brad Webb to ensure your safety although no answers from Brad Webb are guaranteed by the club to be anywhere close to accurate.

Just kidding- call me 901 219-7845 at any time or send me an email BHFriedman at Gmail dot Com. Look forward to seeing you there!

Nice turnout....also nice to see the Griders out of Texas.

Steep payout, 3 out of 10 MPG's got paid that does not seem right to me. I am sure you all used appropriate payout tables and kudos for the extra cash perhaps deeper payouts are just one thing I like better about lower tiered events.

Hi Sharky, thanks for the comment.

In our region we almost invariably follow these guidelines:

Novice: 100% of the field
Intermediate: 50% of the field
Advanced: 40% of the field
Pro: 33% of the field

For some reason the pro's around here prefer the steep payouts with more $ for those who do cash. To each their own I guess.
