what do you guys think? I know the solf is a little faster, but what about stability? new vs. new? thx

IMO, the teebird is more high-speed stable, meaning straighter, and the SOLF is slightly high-speed understable (like -0.5). However, the SOLF is more low-speed stable-to-overstable than the teebird.

sounds like the solf is like a viking. what is like a dx tee with slightly less hi-speed stability? in dx plastic. i guess i could just break in a dx tee.

Yeah, either break in a teebird or try a discraft pro-d xl. Star teebirds are money straight discs.

Oh, a leopard might be what you are looking for. A little less range but my friends who throw leopards can throw them just as far as teebirds because they have more glide.

The SOLF is more like an Eagle than a Teebird. Much more high speed turn and more fade at the end.

IMO, the SOLF is the straightest long distance driver made. To me it is just as forgiving as a Teebird with 50-70 feet more distance. It replaced my Wraiths for good. It flies great for me in any wind conditions...I had the confidence to put it out over 400 feet 3 consecutive headwind drives in the last tournament I played, for what it's worth.
Not sure how it compares to a DX Teebird...but my guess would be longer, more durable, and straighter.

How does it compare to a Discraft Tracker?

The SOLF has replaced virtually every other long to ultra long disc in my bag with the exception of Star TeeBirds and Star Sidewinders. In my hand once beat slightly they are virtually identical to Star TB's just significantly longer and better in the wind. You'll get straight as a string low flights, good at bucking headwinds regardless of quarter and even a kick butt disc for long turnovers once you have beat them to snot, which takes a long, long time. The SOLF is the best single driver out there, IMHO.

i agree riverdog, and was using it as my main driver, but i can just get a good bit more D with a dx wraith, and can control a dx tee a little better [grip]. i now use the dx tee for control drives and the dx wraith for D. If somehow Dave D ever molded the solf in dx plastic, I would switch back to that. If anyone is interested, I have a big stack of 160 QOLF's [clear], and a big stack of 171 red, 1st run millinium bar stamp SOLF's. I would sell cheap or trade. pm me

Similar. The Tracker is like an Eagle-L.

The MOLFs (Millennium plastic Orion LF) are more grippy than the SOLFs. As far as I know the MOLFs have only been released through Am World Doubles, but the production release is coming up next. I haven't had a chance to compare them all flightwise, but I like the grip of the MOLF even more than the SOLF.
I agree that a DX Orion LF would be a sweet disc. That's not a bad idea for a limited edition or fundraiser. The DX TeeRex is an awesome-feeling disc, and the DOLF(?) would feel real nice.

I think a DX starfire X would be even better, more of a teebird flight.

The thing about the Teebird that both the OLF and Starfire lack is the predictability. When I throw a Teebird I know what's going to happen, no alarms and no surprises. If you throw it a little too hard/flat, it fights the turn and stays pretty straight. If you give it a touch more hyzer/nose up than intended, the Teebird "mutes" this mistake as well resulting in a relatively straight flight again with slow left turn. Too much hyzer on the OLF or Starfire and these discs will keep turning without much forward penetration (starfire more than the Olf). Throw the Starfire or OLF too hard/flat and the OLF will turn hard, while the Starfire will hold up for you as long as there is little wind. So the OLF buffers mistakes relating to too much hyzer but will not do the same for throwing too hard/flat, while the Starfire allows you to throw hard/flat but will be in the next county if you throw with too much hyzer. Bottom line: Teebird rules the roost!

Well said. Best analysis yet on this thread, plus a radiohead reference? end of discussion.;)

Perfect review of the Teebird, BTW...
