I had a chance to watch the 2006 USDGC DVD this afternoon and it is excellent. The footage, which is entirely focused on the lead group's final round, is very similar in feel to last year's downlaodable USDGC coverage, but much higher quality thanks to the DVD delivery. Also, the addition of a second camera allowed them to capture a few looks at some of the other players from the second and third groups.
There's also a bit more editing to the coverage than last year's edition, which keeps the action moving fast, but not so fast that you don't get to see the players reacting and interacting during the round.
But the best part of the DVD is the commentary. Billy Crump, Brian Schweberger, and Barry Schultz really do take you inside the group and the round. They spend a little time telling you which disc is being thrown, but they also tell you why. Brilliant!
It's clear that the three are good friends and have played many rounds together. Barry seems the most aware of his competitor's ticks and nervous habits and he doesn't miss an opportunity to point them out.
There's also a ton of little lessons throughout the coverage. You'll learn a little about about playing under the pressure of the lead card at a big event, course management, disc selection, and dealing with distractions. The commentary is peppered with good stuff throughout and you might get as much from the DVD by listening to it without watching.
Go and get it. It combines great coverage and great commentary in a way that few other disc golf dvds has been able to achieve.
Thanks,
-Dave

The DVD sounds great. I will be sure to pick one up this weekend in Bowling Green. I'll have to check with Mike Barnett, but Sunking has always had the latest DVDs at every event he travels to.

Brian-
I'm not suprised one bit. I've told Billy many times that he really has a great talent for keeping a conversation rolling by picking up on the little comments that people make - whether he's doing his 'Inside the Ropes' interviews or the commentary for these USDGC final group videos.
Anybody who is thinking about making a disc golf DVD needs to hire Billy Crump. He really has a unique talent that will take any project to the next level!

Schweb,
I am wondering; what the heck is a lumbering mullet? Great footage by the way. By far the best DVD and commentary of my 11 movie collection. Glad there is no fake British commentator stinking up the event. JK
