So I am going to Houston for about a week in July. Now the obvious question, what courses should I play?

I looked at the course directory, and there is definitely not a shortage of courses, I'm just hoping for some help determining which ones are worth the time for a visitor.

I am going to have a rental car, but I'd like to keep the travel to under 50 miles or so. I'm hoping to hit 2-3 courses a day, depending on the heat and travel required.

So, for all the locals, what courses would you take an out-of-towner to play to see the best Houston and the surrounding areas has to offer?

I made a trip to Houston last Dec. Go here for info on Houston Courses (http://www.pdga.com/msgboard/showflat.php?Board=Houston%20Flying%20Disc%20Socie ty&Number=641842&Searchpage=0&Main=134617&Search=t rue&#Post641842)

I found that Houston is SO large that it really depends where you're staying to figure out what courses you can get to. I only played 2 courses, but if you're in the NW then Oak Meadow in Cypress is a good bet. It has a few majestic water holes that are as pretty as any I've ever seen. It's a very good course!

Oh yeah... check out my Google group, Disc Golf Course Reviews, http://groups.google.com/group/DG-Course-Reviews, for my reviews of Oak Meadow and Spring Valley.

I've lived in Houston for just over a year...you have a car & a week - go to Austin.
It will be very hot...be prepared.
If your north of the city the Oak Meadow course is good. I also like the Conroe course...lots of shade & quick to play. You want to torture yourself go to the Tom Bass courses.
Spring Valley is a good / rough course. It's private with a long open 9 holes around the "pitch & putt" ball golf course and a wooded 18 holes w/ dangerous water hazards lurking out of sight on a few of them.

Another option:
Live Oak Summer Open B Live Oak, TX Sat-Sun, Jul 7-8, 2007 This is just N. of San Antonio - good courses.
and
Fahrenheit Fling C* Arlington, TX Sat-Sun, Jul 21-22, 2007 - another good course...it'll be long & hot...Arlington is between Dallas & Ft. Worth.

Travel safe! Bag that hair gel & don't get caught wandering around the airport w/ a bottle of water!
