I have searched the forum a bit for any info on this disc (Raging Inferno DT), but didn't come up with anything. Has anyone given it a toss? How are the dimples?
I may have to pick one up for sentimental reasons. One of my buddies in high school used a baseball bat to give his car "golf-ball" technology so it would go faster. It didn't work and he pretty much totaled his car. So now every time I see something with dimple technology, I just start laughing.

I have a few right now that have the exact same stability as a max wt champion orc but they are about 15-20 longer. The glossy raging infernos dt's are the most evenly stable and the ones that aren't tend to have a flight similar to a new champion beast.

I like the Raging Inferno DT, compared to the Raging Inferno I would say that the DT is a little bit more overstable and can handle some wind nicely. It is very fast for me and I have no trouble getting out over 420+ with this disc.
I find for some the feel of the disc alone will be easier for people to grip since the rim is not deep. (The inferno for me is harder to grip because of the rim depth) I would say the regular Raging Inferno, at least the current runs are very similar in flight to that of an Inferno but maybe a little faster (if you can actually tell) and for me at least easier to grip.
Obviously since it flys different than the regular RI then the dimples must be doing something, to me they are making it a tad more consistent and not taking anything away from the flight!

I think the comparison to the champion Beast is very accurate, but the RI-DT is faster.

The dimples on the discs are definitely performance enhancing and we are only scratching the surface with the technology.
From my field testing I would say that the dimples neutralize the stability over a wider range of velocities.
The dimples on the under wing from a boundary layer of air that allows the disc to act like a hover-craft. Small amounts of air are trapped in the dimple which lets the next layer of air pass by the wing easier. The dimples reduce the over-all drag on the disc considerably and will help it maintain its original launch speed for a longer period of time.
All of this equals a faster disc with more glide.
DIMPLES = MORE DISTANCE

I love the Inferno DT, very fast disc with lots of glide, it is very easy to throw. A nice flat flying disc with very little fade at the end. Not a great disc for strong headwinds, but tailwinds, lite headwinds and crosswinds it flies fine. Another great disc is the Gatway Blurr this disc rocks, i would highly recomend trying this disc.

I just stuck a RI dt in my bag the other day of testing it because I was very pleased with it. I didn't have to get it as high as the Inferno to get it as far. Also I was able to get it to fade out of the an hyzer a lot more times than the Inferno. It is super fast and has great glide too.

The golf ball dimples are alot more productive than the honeycomb style, IMO.
Personally, I like the RI Protos more, still. I got a line on some more, and Ill be buying them all. Good luck finding more!

I have a Raging inferno that has a really thick wing and is nice and overstable... not sure what run these were from? definately different than the current mold.
I also agree that the golf ball dimples not only feel better in the hand but probably have a greater affect on flight !!!!

I don't know about the disc, but raging inferno DT sounds like a funny mans std. And i'm not talking funny "HA, HA", but funny "HE, HE"!

It's Raging Inferno not Raging 'mo.
I ordered a raging inferno DT and got the inferno! I emailed them back and they sent the DT and told me to keep the inferno! cool!
the infernos have added a good 20 yards to my throw...I measured a practice throw at 138 yards...18 yards farther then my record with a waith. now my other drivers hardly see daylight anymore since I got the infernos.

Hey John,
54 feet is a big jump and is something we are hearing from a lot of players in that 300-350 range of max D!
What weight are the Infernos?
yeah i know...its kinda weird seeing a disc go that much farther with the same throw but i guess its the design of the disc. one is 172 the other is 174. I have yet to throw them any other way then backhand.

You should stick with the back as should most players.
If you want to get a little more Distance you might want to try one in the mid 160's!

Dave - I have a raging inferno that has a different wing and it flys more how I thought the disc should have flew. It seems with the green ones I have (regular) that the wing is now flatter and the disc itself is as flippy as a slightly used inferno. The RI-DT is definately more overstable but not really too much still a little flippy to my likeing. Was there a change in the mold at one point? or were you just not in the know? Just thought I would ask.

It was a change in the molding process that caused the concave in the wing of the latest runs of RI's ( 3rd run).
I have thrown both and the concave ones are probably going to be what is produced.
I agree they are much more overstable then the 2nd runs ( very VERY few first runs made = hot pink) and what we had in mind with the Raging inferno in stability compared to the RIDT.
There were a few guys up from Memphis this weekend and we played Centralia, so I got to see a lot of drives with all 3 infernos from a a few guys with about 300 power.
saw some pretty long throws and the ability to keep the inferno ( 2nd runs) and RIDT staying turned over without a lot of power. Some players with less power may prefer the flight of the 2nd runs with the flat wing!
I was test flying the Blurrs and Rages and feel they were doing exactly what I had in mind for the 2 new discs.
both were easier to get up from Hyzer and were a bit faster than their sister discs ( illusion and Spirit)
I also notice a difference in glide in the Rage and Spirit but not so much in the Blurr and Illusion. ( the Blurrs were bombing long and straight!)!!!!!
I think its more of the faster speed and less gyroscopic nature of the Rage, but the only spirits I have are pretty broken in. I would think a Broken in Rage may go a little farther and seems to be easier to control over a wider range of speeds once you figure out the stability.
According to Nikko he cant really tell much difference between the 2 other than the Rage doesn't need to be broken in to fly as flat!
