I am going to show my ignorance but I am curious how to I find out what region I am in. And what other areas fall under my region?

Florida was its own lucky region 13 when we had the 16 or so regions, which have been abandoned for any practical use since we switched over to State Coordinators in the late 90s.

Thanks Chuck, so really there are no more regions.
Only state.

When we went to the state model, there had been years of wrangling over creating more or less regions that were organized a little better than what had been in place for a while. Going to the State model solved that and pushed the issues like border towns to the state level where it was easier to manage. For example, Hudson, Wisconsin players are more connected to the Minnesota event scene than the Wisconsin event scene since Hudson is essentially an outlying suburb of the Twin Cities.

Interesting. I was not aware the regions were abolished.
Chuck....the SC's appeared in the late 90's, but didn't the regions continue to be recognized after the turn of the century? I moved to Pennsylvania in late 2000 and I somewhat recall my 2001 membership renewal associated with a regional number (If I'm not mistaken, I believe PA was in region 3).

Yes, I was actually State Coordinator of Missouri AND Region 10 Coordinator (MN, MO, IA, NE) at the same time for a year or two until the regions got dropped, so they did coexist for a time.
Actually, what's strange is that places like Hudson, WI (near Twin Cities), and Overland Park, KS (suburb of Kansas City, MO) were both in region 10 with Minnesota and Missouri respectively, although the states they were in actually were in different regions. Now, the KC metro area is split into 2 different regions (MO and KS), and Hudson is in a different region (state) than the Twin Cities.

The regions were still identified during the transition years and it's possible that Worlds invites were still done by region for one or two years after the state coordinators started. Once Worlds invites switched to point rankings within a state, I don't think there was any more use for regions. They are still in the database but it's apparent that many people are coded into the "wrong" region. Perhaps when someone moves, they haven't updated their region code since it isn't necessary.
