What are your favorite foods to carry while you play? I like Nature Valley granola bars (or other crunchy/non-greasy) and trail mix (fruit & nuts in summer, with chocolate in winter). I also love carrying bananas. Unless I'm sweating profously, I prefer water over Gatorade(too much sugar/acids).

Nothing beats trail mix. I like to buy the giant bags at Sam's Club or Wal-Mart. Can't remember what it's called exactly -- usually has peanuts, raisins, chocolate, sometimes cashews, and more.

I usually carry water, although I like to have a bottle of Vitamin water with me as well, Dragonfruit preferably.

But for a PDGA round, 2 liters of water, 16 oz of Ruby Red (maybe cranberry juice), and some beef jerky.

For lunch, a 6" BMT from subway. I might not finish it all, I like to snack throughout the day instead of getting stuffed at lunch. Definately no pizza.

What is wrong with Gatorade? I usually carry a 32oz bottle of Gatorade and a nalgene of water.

Gatorade was formulated for high intensity workouts that usually don't last as long a day of golfing. It has a lot of electrolytes and amino acids as well as sodium and potassium. If you are not dripping with sweat then you are not losing enough of these chemicals to require replacement with gatorade. Personally it causes blood sugar spikes and crashes because my body isn't working hard enough to burn up all the simple sugar calories that it gatorade contains. It also gives me heartburn when I don't need it. Now practicing in the FL summer heat...that's a different story. I usually like carrying the new 6 oz size just for electrolye replacement, and drinking water as my thirst quencher. Nothing ever beats water, and disc golf allows the luxury of being able to eat fruit or whatever else. When working out really intensively, you cannot eat (you'd throw up), so this is what Gatorade was made for.

Has anyone tried Diet V8 Splash? I drink the tropical blend flavor b/c it has a little more potassium than the other flavors. Only 10 calories per 8 oz serving. They make a regular V8 Splash for those of you that don't need to count calories. $1.98 for a 64 oz plastic bottle at Walmart. $3 most everywhere else. Good stuff. Give it a try. :)

How the heck do you manage that? ;)

I like CLIF bars too, except that they are susceptible to heat/cold. They can get gooey in the summer, and I hope you have dental coverage if you try and bite through one in 10 degree weather!

I also like to carry meal replacement bars like a Myoplex or MetRx bar since they are usually high in calories and protein and will fill me up enough to last a few hours without being overly heavy. Fruit is also hard to beat as a snack.

I almost always prefer water to any sport drink. And I rarely drink alcohol on the course. It's not that I'm against it in a casual round, I guess it just works out that way.

There you have it. I tend to sweat year round. Kansas humidity pretty much sucks me dry of any fluids and/or salts I have in my body. I usually don't have to drink as much gatorade to quench my thirst compared to if I were drinking water.

I feel your pain with the Kansas heat and humidity. I still find myself drinking water over anything else though. Even though it's hot as hell out I don't feel like I'm really overexerting myself and feel fine with water. Besides, it makes me feel healthier. :D
