So the warlock has been out now for about a month and the pdga approval should take place today ( along with the Rage)
I have so little time for test flying these days and would like some feedback in flight or comparison to the Wizard.
Yesterday it was really REALLY windy and it seemed like the Warlock was doing quite well even directly into the headwinds on lay ups.
It seems a bit faster to me, the feel of the fan grip is identical and the only difference so far is the way it feels in the power grip.
My hand fits the Wizard rim depth perfect for my power grip, but without the bead my finger tips bottom out a bit on the power grip with the warlock.
We have a few different flexibilities of the warlock made in E and will be getting them shipped out to our vendors this week.
ANYONE ELSE HAVE ANY COMMENTS ON THE WARLOCK?????

Well i haven't thrown the warlock, but i did just get the Radius in both plastics which i was told is a warlock proto. I like these alot. I agree that they are faster than my aviars and are good for in the wind lay ups. The only thing is they were way stable than i had anticipated. they will hold a line great but they do have a good amount of fade. It wasn't the understable disc i had planned on getting, but that said i like them a lot. I am still probably getting a warlock to try out. I have a tourney this weekend and I'll try to pick one up there.

I have given the warlock its fair share of flights versus my wizards. I would say that the Wizard is slower with more low speed fade compared to that of the Warlock. If you were to classify the wizards speed as 3 on a scale of 1 to 10, then the Warlock would be a 3.5 to 4. As for stability, I would say that it is a touch less than that of the wizard. OTB, my warlocks are dead straight with just a bit of left fade at the end. Also, the Warlock seems to hold the straight line a little bit longer too. It is a great compliment to the wizard. Would have liked to have seen maybe a bit less stability in it, but still a great disc.

How much different if any, does the warlock feel in your hand?

I don't really like the feel of the Warlock. It's not sharp, but it's sharper than a Wizard. I like the bead on a Wizard, the way the rounded edge sits in my hand. I also think the Wizard feels more gyroscopic, and I like the feel of the heavier rim in my hand.
Warlock didnt work out for me..
Too flippy - maybe i'll go back to it later..
ironically tho.. taught my friend how to play disc golf on March 4th. After he completed 18 holes, he wanted to play a couple more before going back to his kids - on the 19th hole in his lifetime.. He aced hole #4 at Douglas Park in Springfield with the warlock.. Needless to say, he earned the warlock and hopefully becomes permanent in his bag.

The warlock comes out of my hands better. I don't know if you remember but when we had the talk about the bead and no bead when the warlocks first came out.
When I'm doing approaches or short shots I use a fan grip and the warlock doesn't rub against my fingers like a wizard does some time.
I also have hit basket on about a 200ft approach all ready so of course I'm happy with it.

The warlock does feel different in the hand compared to the wizard. I was doing some more putting last night with it compared to my wizards. The warlock felt a lot cleaner coming out of the hand compared to the wizard. I would guess that is do to the bead vs. no bead. The warlock also feels a bit more lower profile than the wizard. I will say this much, I did not miss a single putt last night with it.(Granted it was only from 25 feet and I only threw about 20-25 putts). I think I missed 3 out of 25 with my wizards. Guess my putting game didn't gather too much rust over the winter. Either that or I was just lucky last night.
I think that the warlock will be my go to for jump putts because of its ability to hold the straight line.

I have no idea how the Warlock flies ... still haven't got one ... even after all the work on a stamp design for the contest. Oh well ... /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

The dancing bears stamped warlock (radius?) that I have flew like a rhyno when it was brand new. Even at high speeds it flies very straight at first, then takes a big sweeping fade (actually a lot more glide than a rhyno). It is pretty darn stiff plastic and it is breaking in to straighter. So far it is much more predictable than my wizards. Wizards have never been consistently stable at high speeds for me

I have had several talks with Blake about this very same topic and he claims the opposite takes place on his release.
That the non-Bead gets hung up somewhere.
I am going to check DGR to see if Blake has reviewed the Warlock yet?

I was displeased that the staff at the Memorial would not allow us to use Warlocks in play. Aren't they PDGA approved yet?

The Warlock I have been throwing is a 170g white disc with a red hotstamp. Upon taking it out of the box, I noticed the smooth feel of the S plastic, and noted the 'new disc' smell...mmmmmm! I immediately liked the way the Warlock felt...just enough tack and grip without being overly sticky. The mold itself also fits my hands just right. The index finger on my throwing hand fits around the bottom of the rim for a secure grip when putting. I also noted that the slope of the Warlock's wing is steeper than that of the Wizard; which is rounder and more blunt.
When putting, the first thing I noticed was that the Warlock is nice and stable without being overly so. It held a nice straight line for all but the last bit of it's flight when it lost speed. It would then fade to the left, but not as much as a new Wizard. With the Warlock, I didn't have to worry as much about my natural tendency to putt with a hyzer release since the disc would fly straighter than a Wizard during it's flight...I was able to aim more towards the middle of the basket allowing for less wide-right misses.
I am already pleased with the way the Warlock flies on a rope with just a touch of dependable fade at the end of it's flight, and I'm very anxious to see how the Warlock will perform once I beat what little fade it now has out of it...should be an awesome straight-to-right-turn putter/approach disc!

Dave,
Are the gateway warlock and the 1080 radius from the same mold? Us plastic addicts, we've been wondering.
I love the warlock! It found a permanent spot in my bag immediately. I'm really glad I got some with the Dancing Bears stamp in glow plastic! I've already stocked up several. (PAA notice: MST has 'em.)
For me it flies like a faster wizard. New, it is less low-speed overstable than a wizard, but every bit as high-speed stable. I love it for low-ceiling putts, and for longer stradle putts.
New, it is flying fairly stable for putts, approaches and upshots, and I'm actually hoping it will not wear to understable too fast. It flies well with a little height, and also well with flatter nose-up shots.
The warlock is my favorite beadless putter, and I've tried several. It has not replaced any of my three perfectly seasoned wizards, but is an excellent compliment to them.
And, it is due compliments to you and ya'll. Great Disc!
