Looks like I'm gonna be staying in OK for the Chandler Tornado instead of heading down south for the Texas Women's Championship. Hope to see some other women playing the Tornado again this year...last year we had somewhere in the ballpark of 10 women!
I noticed the flyer is up on the TDSA site, but a women's division is not listed. Will women play in their respective division or all together in one division? What is the entry fee for women? I'd like to start trying to recruit some women to play, so I gotta know how much to tell 'em. Will there be anything special added for the ladies?
Thanks! And I am looking forward to this wonderful event for my 3rd year in a row! This is one of the tourneys I will play every year...it was my first ever tournament!
sschumacher
Mar 12 2007, 03:36 PM
Mel. Even though this is not sanctioned, all regular PDGA womens divisions will be offered. There will be the normal short course and an alternate longer course as in the past. Pros and advanced will start on the long and intermediate, rec, and juniors will start on the short. I'm keeping the entry fee the same for both men and women in an effort to be politically correct. There will be some extra goodies for the women but as of now, no added cash unless I find a sponsor to throw in some extra green in for the ladies specifically.
As far as grouping goes, all divisions have to play the same courses. We should be able to come up with something that's fun and fair for all the women though.
sschumacher
Mar 12 2007, 06:15 PM
By the way. The sponsor list for the Super-cool tye-shirts will be going to print very soon so anybody who would like help sponsor this event with a little cash, ctp, ROF goodies, or volunteer for some minor duties, please send me a PM or email as soon as possible. If you're playing its ok but this being my first big tourney, I could use some help getting everyone signed in and checking scores in between rounds. :).....
I will also be offering sponsor or trash talk signs at 1 for $15 or 2 for $25. All this money will be going back into this tourney. For the last couple of years I've been trashing Twoputt every chance I get and there has never been a lack of material to trash him with but I would like to see the trash talk spread around. I think Billy Lund and Hutchinson are still fair game even though I heard they did accept cash last weekend. Naegele, Johnson, Mitchell, Thong Le???? Don't forget Jake the Snake, Coach, and Red. This year I might focus on my arch nemesis Trey Landers., but then again there are a lot more pictures of Wise that can be altered in Photoshop so if anyone has any ideas, let me know.

Thanks Furdog. I think in the past, there have been different divisions for women, just like any other tournament, but that's when it was sanctioned. Last year, however, I'm pretty sure there was just one division of 10 women...we all played together and in one division. It was a good time because it was laid back and not too competitive. No big deal...I just wanted to know the plan.

Callling All Basket Owners:
The super crew of Joyle Deering, Tony "Sky" Walker, and Billy Juby will again be setting up the 18 hole alternate course at Chandlerstock this year so I am looking for people who could volunteer their baskets for this great event.....Please don't make me have to bring out my Ching basket. :(.....They got the inside track on some already but more is more and it doesn't hurt to have some standbys just in case. I know the famous Forest "Hangin" basket will be there so if you have one or know someone that loan or bring one for the weekend please let me know as soon as possible so I can get a list going.....Please make sure that it is marked in someway so it can be identified and returned to it's proper owner.
Also, I am looking for someone that can bring a open trailer so the baskets can be collected at the end of the day and brought to a central area where they can be supervised and/or locked up. Pick'em trucks work ok but a trailer could carry more so if you got one let me know. :)

Also, trash/sponsor signs are still available for sale. All money goes back into the tournament. Protect yourself. Do what Wise does and trash everyone just to be safe. :).....Need help on what to say??? Text message Twoputt at 1-800-I-LIKE-SHEEP. Or send your idea to me and I'll see if I can come up with something. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Jake, Donkey, Hutch, Lund, and just about everyone else is fair game. Kevin, ultrasound baby pics are ok. :)
Tie dye shirts are going in next week. If you can sponsor or help in anyway, bark back at me now. I have already notified NASA that the night golf for this event will be able to be seen from outer space due to all the "Shiny Happy People". :)
Moose sightings are happening everyday due to the migration of a rare herd that are attracted to loving, peaceful people playing disc golf high above the Tulsa skyline. In honor of them, this year, Moose-a-gans will be available. :)
Let the fires of love begin this weekend at Duncan. :)....
And then carry that flame back with you to Chandlerstock.

Who's got a fever for some cowbell????
I'm beginning to worry that because I don't have a leader board to follow the lead cards around, nobody is going to know who the leaders are.....So I'm thinkin that, starting on the second round, all leaders of their respective divisons should be required to carry a cowbell on their bags so they can be truely recognized as the leader of their pack. Should there be more than one in a division then they would split carrying it until the round is over. If Froto can carry the weight of the ring to Moordoor than surely the division leaders can ring the bell till the cows come home? :)

If interested please post and maybe we can get some casual games of DDC going.

Ok you little mountain creatures. Four days left until Chanderstock Eve!!...Joyle Deering and Tony Walker laid out the alternate course yesterday and I now have official distances. Basically I started on the hill and threw east for a CCW rotation this year. Wherever my disc landed so be a basket there. :)....This one should be a piece of cake. Mostly easy course but with a whole bunch of trees in the way. :o...A fine example of why drunk animals and course design don't mix. :o....But, it shouldn't be any problem for Superpros, pregnant ladies, and parking lot plastic peddlers should they decide to play. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif....
You can pre-register starting around 4pm - 8:30pm Friday night and get a special dog-treat. :)...Saturday registration will be from 7:30 - 9:00am.
This year, there will be an option to purchase a maximum of 4 mulligans at $1 a piece at registration only. You can only use one mulligan per round. Five bucks will get you max mullies and one throw for a chance to win a DGA Gold Mini basket. It's $85 retail not including the shipping and this one has a custom tournament stamp on the number plate. Right now the plan is to have a throw off for it BUT, you will be throwing a mini to win it. NO METAL OR WOODEN MINI'S ALLOWED AND YOU MUST HAVE YOUR NAME ON THE MINI!!!
Does anyone out there know how to throw a mini??.....
More details to follow......

The weather forecast for this weekend is drying up a little more each day I check it. YEAH!
I will get me my five mulligans for sure. I have thrown a mini or two hope I can put it in and get a another mini basket.
DDC - you need a partner and there are two frisbees that start in opposite courts and you and your partner do not want to have both frisbees in your court at the same time or have a frisbee land in your court. Very simple explanation - come play it you will love it - great exercise with a frisbee in your hand.
Furdog - the kids had a blast at Mooseville on Saturday - thanks.

The donated plastic need not be "premier" plastic. Bring out your used plastic and preferebly the more beat up the better since they will all be new players. As we all know, getting the disc to flatten out is one of the hardest things to learn at first.

Thanks Wayne for spreading the word about collecting used discs. In short I am on the recreation committee in Tulsa for this project called Impact Peace. There will be a big rally on Saturday May 12th at 46th and Cincinatti to help get at risk youth out of gangs and into a more productive life style. Jose and I will be teaching these kids and their mentors how to play disc golf (in the upcoming months). My plan is to not only teach them the sport, but also the things that go along with our sport, such as having fun, complimenting others, showing good etiquet, taking care of our parks, making friends, etc. What better (and affordable) game than disc golf?!
I will have a box labeled for Project Impact Peace at Furdog's headquarters this weekend at Chandlerstock. Thanks for your interest and donations!

THANK YOU, Furdog, Marie and all of the volunteers that made this event possible. And a Big thanks to Joyle Deering and crew for the temp coouse and getting the baskets out each morning.
I know for fact Furdog spent many a night thinking of ways to make this a great weekend for all that attended. Like Saturday's night golf, moose hunting, rings of fire and many giveaways. He even provided tournament security that was on duty Saturday night. :D
I do believe he was Successfull. :D
Probably the first tournamnet I've been to that I never heard one complaint, about anything. ;) Well maybe one........
Danielle was voicing her feelings for the wind on Sunday morning. :DI'm not sure it was realy a complaint, all I heard was her screaming for it to STOP! :D
Furdog, thank you.........You continue to amaze me and you continue to be one of the best friends a guy could have. ;)
Job well done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

GREAT WEEKEND OF GOLF AND FRIENDS.
THANKS FOR THE ROC JOE....WHO KNOWS WHERE IT WILL GO.....EVERYONE KNOWS THAT I CAST NO STONES....AND I DON'T THORW ROCS....

FUNNY..... In Texas we would have called that a tornado. And the wind is not a good listener.

Furdog, thank you for running an outstanding tournament...awesome job!!!!
It's tough trying to hang with those open players but it was a really fun time anyway. I'm glad I still have plenty of MA1 days ahead of me.

Nice shot guys!!!!! ;)
Congrats to you guys for the ace$$$. I was very pleased to be on the card when Martin, my doubles partner spanked #12. It was great.
I do have one lasting memory from Chandlerstock. An unnamed couple from OKC, Kevin and Becky, planned and ran a scam on me. They roll up Friday and we played a casual warm up round. Out of the blue and with no warning, they lured and duped me into a wager.   This operation was so well orchestrated, I had no idea that I was being played.    Needless to say, hole #7, the scene of the crime, was a whirlwind of artful scammery and financial loss. :( :( I still cant belileve it.   Well kiss 20 cents goodbye. I guess I didnt need food money anyway. Other than that, Good Times for sure! Good Job Furdog and Furdog's Staff

Sorry K Mac for cutting into your take but it was my first ace ever in a big event and it was SWEET !
Your shot was much harder and should have been worth 2 shares but i am not giving you a refund from mine!
Maybe Matt aced an easy one and will feel guilty about it but 12 was not!
THANK YOU Moose and Dog and Kim and everyone else that checked cards and entered while i was out playing YOU and not me ARE AWSOME!

Why did i get into your wallet? i think you hit yours after the money was in my hand!
FYI i hit the shortest hole for the weekend
#3 ALT 151'
but there was a tree 3 feet right in front of the basket
thank God too it hit the ground rolled up the tree and then flipped over back into the basket
I never, and i do mean, never, have anything to brag about so thanks for sharing

Thanks Fur Dog and everyone who helped put on this tournament/festival. It was fun, it was groovy, it is what I would call a disc golf family get together :)
Special thanks out to all those who donated discs to Project Impact Peace. There were 47 discs donated! I will post with an update when we start using the discs with the kids. I think the support and enthusiasm for the project by the golfers this weekend just shows why I want the kids to play such a great game and be around such wonderful people. Let's do it again next year!

Wow!!!!.....What a weekend. I want to thank all 136 players that showed up for my first big tournament. Big high paw to the 90 some that pre-registered on Friday night. It sure made Saturday morning a little easier. Special thanks to Joyle Deering, Tony Walker, and Billy Juby for waking up early every morning and putting out the alternate course. Also thank you very much for all the jumped in and helped with checking and bagging cards and keeping me from freaking out.
Friday started out a little stressful but it all got a easier as the weekend when on. One thing I found out about driving an RV is that people get out of your way. Maybe it had something to do with that student driver sign I put on the back. I am very surprised by the early turn in from everyone on Friday night. By 12:30am even Naegele was sleeping.
Some of the funny things I saw last weekend.
Night golf.
Ill tell ya. Looking over the short course at night and seeing groups of slow moving glow rings in the distance was cool. Look for those to be a standard at all future Chandlerstocks. I vote Dave Wise for the best glow tent award and Jose and his family for the glow jump rope competition. A couple of people put them on their dogs which I thought was really cool. I missed most of it but Tony Sky Walker cut one open and poured it all over his shirt. I wish I could have lit up the baskets a little better. Ive still got a ton of glow sticks so Ill have to test out some new ideas before next year. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
Sharpie Steve Survives
One person that was in contention for the Moost Fun award was definitely Steve Naegele. Saturday night I went to let Swaggie out the gate and when I came back I heard a conversation going on by the fireplace. It turned out to be Steve talking to himself. Everyone else had given up on waiting for him to pass out with his shoes on and went to bed. I talked to him for a few minutes and then went to bed. Unfortunately I still had to listen to him outside the RV for the next hour talking to himself and yelling 2 minutes. :(
Ranger Twoputt
Friday there was a group of non-disc golfers camping by hole # 5 tee pad that were giving me and some other people crap including Big Nic. Why anyone would want to give Big Nic crap or anyone else is a mystery to me. Enter Ranger Twoputt who arrived on Saturday morning and proceeded to move that trash off the course. Later him and his deputy Barney Treat helped collect some camping fees from those that camped behind the mound. From what I hear, those campers were more than happy to pay their fees. Some of them even ran off into the woods in an effort to find more money to donate. :o;)... Thanks Twoputt and Barney. Twoputt, you are the official winner of the Most Devious Dick Dasterly award. Total raised for Tulsa Park Friends was $535. All that money goes into a special account for Chandler Disc Golf only. Thanks to everyone that did the right thing and pay the camping fee. :)
The Breeze
Now I know everyone complained about the windy conditions but look at it this way. At least it didnt rain. In high school they used to call me The Breeze for all the air biscuits I would float but I have to tell you that Mr Twisted Joe Rotan is the new breeze. He was the only one outside staff, that I let use the bathroom all weekend and if the rounds seem to start late on Sunday it is because after he was done, LilMoose, my staff, and I could only stay in the RV for as long as we could hold our breath. The radiation from his event was too great for us to bear. Thanks Joe. You really know how to mark your territory.
The Golf
I really didnt get to see any golf due to the location we were at. The only thing I saw was when someone shanked one into the HQ parking lot about 40 feet from the RV. What a shot. I hope everyone enjoyed the alternate course. Maybe someday well have a permanent second course installed for you.
Many Thanks
To all the sponsors and people who helped make this happen. As stressful as it felt at times, there was always a top notch group of professional TDs around to help me avoid doing something stupid. Special thanks to Marie (aka: LilMoose) who convinced me to leave the vodka at home. Without her I never could have done this. For those that are interested, all the moose came back home and she did not lose a single one.
Final Thoughts
All and all I can not think of too much that I would have done different. I can think of only a few regrets. One would be missing KMs ace. Sorry Kevin. :(.... One of my score checkers must have been hitting the hootch. Another would be having to pay Twoputt cash..... That was really tough. :(.... It wasnt until later that I thought of the following:
1) Give him a empty envelope.
2) Give him an IOU
3) Give him a note saying Thanks for the donation buddy.
I never got to throw a single hole on the alt course. Next year Ill have to find a way to get out there and throw a couple. Thanks to Joe I now know how to dump the RV poop. Either I do it or they would have charged me fifty bucks. Thats some expensive crap. :p
Im already looking forward to next year but Im glad its still a year away. I now understand what the other TDs have to go through to get their events up and running and Ive got to say that I have a lot of respect for those guys.
Mark your calendars now for April 19th and 20th of 2008. The shelters have already been reserved for us and I hope to see all of you again for two days of peace, love, and disc golf on Furdogs Mountain retreat.
Woof!!!!

Calendar marked!!!
Some of the most fun I had all weekend was sitting up front with Big Nic at awards and just cutting up on any and everything that come up - I laughed the whole time. Oh yeah, you know that someone is not right in the head if they are going to single out Big Nic to pick on.
